    Good video. I appreciate how unbiased you are about lg phones compared to other phone reviewers. I'm still using my LG g6 for over 2 1/2 years now and still works great

    • @TechOdyssey
      @TechOdyssey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I appreciate it. The G6 was a great phone. I always wanted one but never picked one up. The G6 really for the short end of the stick when it launched because it had the older chip (SD821) than the Galaxy S8, due to the exclusivity of the launch for the SD835, which was a significant improvement. So LG bumped up their launch into Feb, I believe, but was already outdated in April, and I feel like they've been playing catch up ever sense. Beautiful phone though. The back scratched like crazy on them though. 😬

    Very good and very useful review!
    One little criticism though is that blur around you when you're talking. It's a bit distracting, and at times, when you raise the phone to show it to the camera, it just gets blurred, which isn't ideal.

    I had an LG V10 as a second phone some years back and really liked it. Never had an issue with it. I may have to consider picking up a Velvet just to give it a drive. Another great video!

      Thanks, Alan. I had a V10 as well and actually liked it a lot. Got kinda warm and battery life wasnt stellar but I loved the design and concept. LG is usually hjt or miss with phones, but this one is a hit in my book.

    I think that this phone is a game changer. LG has made some awesome devices but they have struggled against Samsung and even HTC. LG downside to me has always been the bloatware. The skins was a little too heavy but from what I see, the UI looks thin and very responsive. Stock Android is the way to go in my opinion. This device is beautiful and because of the active stylus software, this is definitely a note 20 competitor and alternative in terms of style, performance, price and the experience. All LG needs to do is be consistent and they'll be ok. They're still a major player but consistency has been an issue. I think LG has got it right for a change. Oh and btw, it's all about optimization and I think 6 gb of ram is more than enough to have premium performance. The Moto g series is an example with 4 gb of ram yet perform at a premium level because of optimization. Great video as always. Looking forward to the full review

    Great review. I think LG has presented a mid priced phone with some great high end features. The 2nd screen has the little hole at the top because they want the screen to be an exact match. It's also about cost savings. It's cheaper to use the same screen rather than using a different part. I would buy the Velvet but I have the V60.

    • @TechOdyssey

    Even tho this might sound pretty good I'm just disappointed to see LG stop caring about this feature. I would pay a thousand bucks for a premium smartphone with a killer DAC and a powerful amp with balanced outputs - and I'm not alone on this one. There're a lot of people who cares a lot more for audio quality than refresh rate or selfie cameras.

      @@TechOdyssey Your reviews are extremely helpful. I am a 66 year old man who loves tech but am having to pace myself now for being retired. I have owned just about every Note phone since the Note 2. I currently own a Note 10+ and I can no longer justifying paying the enormous amount that Samsung wants for their phones. This Velvet intrigues me mostly been of being able to use the Wacom stylus with it. Plus i like the dual screen option. I saw one reviewer say that one app was able to open e-books up across both screens like you would see in a book. Would love to see Amazon Kindle eventually do the same thing. I am thinking about selling my Ipad 12" and My Kindle reader, and one of my two laptops (consolidating) and use this Velvet. I love the style of the Velvet more than the v60 and since I am not concerned with not having the dac on the Velvet, the Velvet seems like the better choice. Just having to wait on T-Mobile selling it, OR if LG would sell an unlocked US version i would go with it. Most of my Notes have been unlocked versions. Again, thanks for your reviews.

      It's sleeker and cheaper. MSRP is $200 less. Of course there are usually good financing deals for either one. The V60 is bulkier and had a flat screen and is pretty big, even though they both have the same size screen. If you want something more powerful for gaming and ridiculous battery life, the V60 is more appealing. There aren't many differences really, other than just price and the way it looks. What's important is that it's choice. People have options, and I like both of the devices so I don't think you can go wrong

    ... aand of course LG Australia have decided to release this phone without the second screen module! WTF?!
    Then they won't bring the V60 to us either, pricks!
    Not sure if 4300mah battery on the Velvet will be adequate after a couple of years, my V20 has a 4400 and is barely enough for a half day! 😁

      Phone cpus are made with better and better architectures lowering battery life. This one has 7nm cpu, and nect years snapdragon 875 is supposed to have 5nm cpu. But now phones are also starting to have 5g and higher refresh rates which increase battery drain again

      Maybe if they had an LTE model. The 5G and Snapdragon 765G are the kicker here. It's what gives you the modern 5G (wholly unnecessary for most people but top of the line) and also it gives you the seamless experience like an 8xx series chipset.

      @@TechOdyssey when onplus nord price is $480 I think LG definetly cud have launched it at 450$ without dual screen bcz LG is itself Oled maker so it costs less to them whereas oneplus outsources it so the company they outsource from also taking some profits
