    We visited Setubal in 2017 and loved it! The market is truly wonderful. We stayed at a fantastic guesthouse close to it and appreciated the friendliness of the vendors and the quality products for sale at very reasonable prices. So many wonderful places to eat and there is so much to experience. We took the ferry over to Troia for the day - well worth the visit. I would gladly relocate from Canada for 6 months of the year to Setubal. I really enjoyed this segment and miss Portugal a lot. We have visited several times and every visit makes me love this country, it's friendly people, food, wine, culture and history more. Great job!

      Carlos Saraiva Thank you Carlos. There is a smaller community of Portuguese people in central Canada. We used to go regularly to a small Portuguese grocery store in the city owned by a lovely older couple who sold the business. There is one other store I believe but the selection is not as good. Now it is hard to get many of the Portuguese foods that we like - I am addicted to Manna tuna pate! I always buy Castelo soap made in Porto, have a lot of Portuguese ceramics and my husband knows to buy Portuguese wine to make me happy. We do as much as we can to support the Portuguese economy.

      I live in Toronto and have never been to Europe but am thinking of retiring in Portugal as I have heard so many good things about it. The winter is too long here and life is too short to have to stay indoors for half the year. Setubal is high on the list of potential places to live along with the Algarve, and the Silver Coast. I am hoping to visit next year if possible...

    I enjoy all your videos but I particularly loved this one, which brought back wonderful memories of our two-week holiday in Setúbal in July 2011. After several visits to Madeira, I'd started trying to learn Portuguese in South Wales. Our tutor Debbie's boyfriend was from this beautiful city and she showed me pictures of the beach. I was hooked and so we booked an apartment in one of the city's pedestrianised areas. We had a great time there - and absolutely loved Troia peninsula. If you get a chance to visit Palmela, please take it. I remember doing some wine-tasting close to the pousada and my 15-year-old complaining because they didn't sell coca cola. Fabulous memories of a wonderful city. Thanks again.

    As a teacher I must advise, it is not Shhhetubal. The first two letters are pronounced as if you were saying 'Senhorita'. Setúbal is still very run down, but the mayor is really trying... Try to take the car on the Ferry to Tróia, so worth it. Also, if you go to Outão, quite nearby, follow signs to the Hospital which is inside a fort. Enter the hospital and follow signs to the cafeteria. The view is absolutely amazing and all free. Patients in their rooms below have amazing views, just like you do and access to the small beach below is by going down the steps, carefully...

    How old is your beautiful daughter? She is so sweet and so smart and the love that the two of you show her is evident that it is not only given while on video recording time. It would be wonderful to see this more in the US of A where I currently live. I have had some medical issues that have stalled my move to Portugal. I am sure (hopefully) to be able to get there soon enough but have to sell my home first in a very growing what was once a dot or not even on the map with a population of less than 5000 now easily over double that and getting way to cramped for me.
    I hear the two of you talk about the poor quality of the COFFEE.
    I live in the coffee capital of the USA being near Seattle, Washington. I was wondering if you think starting a Coffeehouse with a few sweets would make a profitable business in Portugal and if so, if coffee can be shipped in from other countries to offer an awesome cup or do you know who I would talk to to seek such a venture? I have always wanted to have a Cookie Shop and make American style Drop Cookies and tray bakes to people in other countries. Maybe your little girl can be the one to tell us if she likes or doesn’t like them.
    Do you know if a non- citizen or if it is possible to even live there as a main resident. I don’t speak Portuguese but being there I will learn and from what I feel, I will have a family in the people I am familiar with. I am a widow now for 6 years and my 4 kids have left my nest and if I am in Portugal, they cannot come back to drain what little they have left me. Now, is it legal to even start a business if I am not a citizen?
    Anyway, sorry to make this so long, I have never been to This Beautiful and Amazing land of Portugal but I have been watching you and another couple with their two daughters that moved from California.
    If there is any advise you can give me, maybe a name of office where to find out these answers, I would truly appreciate your help.
    I am sure you get offers all the time but if my dream does come true and I do get to have my Cookie shop, I would love to have your little Story as my Assistant Chef Position! She can do as my Grandsons did, pour the ingredients into the big mixing bowl and crack an egg now and then. Of course I would have to make a special Apron and Chef hat for her to make ire title official. I would Embroider her first name on it and it would say “CHEF ASSISTANT 1
    MOST IMPORTANT “
    That means if I am to busy to be bothered, ASK THE ASSISTANT, hehehe☕️🧁🍪🥛🍨
    Oh, I have just one other question, very important, do you ever see the poison snakes or spiders I have seen on the internet? I think they talked about scorpions as well. Where I live, we have Hobo spiders and Black widow spiders, and because of the population growing in Eastern Washington, and the change in Mother Nature, there has been more rattle snakes on the western side of the state.
    Thank you again, Jill

    • @Jesuscger
      @Jesuscger 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Portugal there aren't any poisonous snakes, we only have one poisonous viper, the horned viper, but you will only find this kind of viper in the mountains. Bites are very, very rare, they don't like contact with humans and usually go away when somebody aproaches, also, we have the black widow spider which is poisonous too, but I never have seen one in my life, I thik they only exist in the Alentejo region. There are scorpions in some regions of the Alentejo, Algarve and Beira Baixa regions.
