  • China-based ehang becomes the world’s first company to receive airworthiness certification for its fully autonomous, passenger-carrying air taxis. Ehang’s eh216-s air taxis are electric vertical take-off and landing (evtol) aircraft that can carry up to two passengers or 600 pounds of cargo. They are powered by 16 electric rotors and can fly at speeds of up to 80 mph and distances of up to 18 miles.

    Evidently making a fool of you DK - If you didn't realize it - a jet can fly about 200 miles without power if the power stops at 30,000 ft. A competent helicoper pilor can always make a pretty soft landing by autorotation which is without any power using the rotor to spin up from gravity. A Drone cannot; it will drop lie a lead brick if the computer or electrical system fails. You have zero chance of survival over 200 ft; unless you have a parachute in the drone.

    • @deebil8099

      Why 6 months? 6 minutes. Everything made in China breaks immediately. Just like their first "Home grown" commercial jet the Comac919 broke down during their first flights and they had to move the passenger to a boeing jet😆😁 At least with the comac919, Boeing and Airbus showed the Chinese how to make the plane and over 80% of the parts are made by them, not in China. It still took them like 15 years to build the piece of crap jet... You would have to be crazy to get in one of these made in China piece of shit.

    • @merrick6484

      6 months from now there will be hundreds of companies supply same or even better service at cheaper costs.
      2 years from now it will be a common mode of transport everywhere in China.
      5 years from now it will be export to everywhere in the world.
      Yeah, Chinese will always advanced and make tons of money.

    • @deebil8099
      @deebil8099 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rofl, I garuantee that 80% of the parts come from western companies. Don't forget that China can only do very low end manufacturing. All the high end parts come from the west. China only assembles parts with their slave labor. For example, China's new "home grown" jet the comac919 is made up of more than 80% parts from Boeing and Airbus. China is not advancing. They just steal the blueprints from companies order the parts and make their own shitty copy.😁😆😂@@merrick6484

    18 miles maxium range - probably without passengers? There is a major downside to anything such as this giant drone; if the computer or electrical systems fail - your dead. Planes can glide, helicopters can autorotate, these will need an auxilliary parachute to maintain any sort of emergency means of saving lives; but parachutes have little ability to be directed - away from water or an electrical powerline; they will have a predicably higher rate of death and injury.

      The EHang 216-S is a two passenger eVTOL multicopter production model aircraft made for advanced air mobility (AAM). The cruise speed of the aircraft is 100 km/h (62 mph), has a maximum speed of 130 km/h (81 mph) and has a maximum altitude of 3,000 m (9,843 ft). The range of the EHang 216 is 35 km (22 miles) and has a flight time of 21 minutes. The letter "S" is a common convention in the aviation and manufacturing industry denoting a production version of a product, indicating it has reached a stage of development suitable for manufacturing and commercial use.
      The aircraft has 16 propellers, 16 electric motors and is powered by batteries. The battery recharging time is 120 minutes. The maximum payload of the aircraft is 220 kg (485 lb). The multicopter has a canopy over the cock and windows on doors providing excellent views for the passengers. The aircraft has gull-wing doors. The fuselage is made of carbon fiber composite for high strength to low weight ratio. The aircraft has fixed skid landing gear.
      Some background of the EHang 216-S passenger multicopter aircraft
      The EHang 216-S is based on the EHang 184 but has eight arms instead of four. These extra propellers and electric motors allows for the multicopter to hold two passengers instead of one. The single seat version is the EHang 116. In the summer of 2020, EHang was issued a Special Flight Operations Certificate for its 216 Logistics cargo drone.
      The EHang 2160-S Autonomous Aerial Vehicle (“AAV”) was first announced in February 2018. Manned and unmanned flight testing was conducted in China in 2017, and a manned flight test with Dutch prince Pieter Christiaan took place at the Amsterdam Arena in April 2018.
      In a July 2017 interview for CNBC, EHang co-founder Derrick Xiong stated that “at this moment we are working closely with Dubai and we have actually, together with them, we have done numerous tests internally. Also, we have basically done a lot of - many, many times - tests with a passenger on it, including the vice-mayor of Guangzhou City in China and also some governors from Dubai as well. We have done a lot of tests and we aim to do the very first public demo very soon this year.”
