- Life is mad busy and sadly sometimes not enough time to do stuff. You may say that using your phone to take pictures to produce artwork is not true to the Cyanotype process. Well each to their own, how you make your art is always a personally choice.
In my case I wish to try it out, just with a mobile phone and an inkjet printer. Could I make negatives for alternative processes on the fly without fuss ? This I explain how to with one app (using Android) to get a negative image for use with the Cyanotype or Sun print process. It's catering for everyone from beginner to advanced as I included a sections on the usage of different papers.

Cool video Gavin, thanks for sharing. How you get to the final image( by using your phone or a large format camera) doesn’t really matter as long as you are happy with the result. A follow up video showing the Van Dyke over Cyanotype would be great👍
Thanks Mike - Absolutely! Admittedly I have never done VDB over Cyanotype or vice versa. It will definitely be in an up coming video.
Thanks for the great video. I have a question, If I use a light box, do I need to put glass over the film?
Thank you! The glass is to hold the negative in place, to keep it registered to the paper.
Thank you for the answer. will a clear plastic from a picture frame do the job or will it interfere with the UV light?@@GavinLyonsCreates
@@yuval6354 Plate glass is nice and heavy to keep things fixed. I bought a piece in IKEA for a couple euros in the leftovers/reurns area. You can always use a picture frame also, to keep it tight between the paper and neg.
