      not watching the stuff would make me just shoot too fast when I'm with my gf, trust me I tried. Nice product, but please don't advertise it like people who watch porn are doing something wrong. Society would be worse off if nobody watched, It surely makes some people worse, but others need it naturally (i mean without the boost of it being a habit) to release. Also, argument that people should be able to hold themselves of is kinda bs, they obviously don't, and this only invites bigger transgressions to be made. I won't consider this when liking/disliking the vid, different people think differently. But it made me mad enough to rant here :D

    Dude... Walt broke up with Gretchen because he didn't want her family's help in any of his business ventures. Since she was working at Grey Matter he left and sold his shares as well. He sealed his own fate because of his pride even before the show starts. The show... is about pride... Mike literally screams it at the audience. The show is about Walt realizing the full extent of his pride and ignoring everything good in his life. Everyone in this comment section thinks Skylar is the villian.

    I noticed his cancer was not only a physical representation of his limited time to do what he really wanted to do, but a metaphor for his time being limited to propel him to do what he wanted. Notice how whenever he feels like he shouldn't be doing these things or has second thoughts about all of it, that his cancer starts up again. But when he goes about his breaking bad business, it seems to be nonexistent almost. And, technically he did beat cancer. He never died by it, but by a bullet. A bullet that symbolized the life he decided to take on. Instead of dying by something that was a part of his mundane life, he dies by something that was related to the life he wanted to live. That's how I see it.

    Something that people often overlook is that Walt was never forced into the path/lifestyle he chose. His ego was the only thing that led him to dealing/cooking drugs. He always had the way out A.) accepting the money from his rich friends (a hit to his ego, but something that would have saved his family) or B.) being honest with Skyler that they didn't have enough money and brainstorming ways to solve that.
    Yes, he was trapped in a life that was certainly not meeting his expectations. However, if he had used the ingenuity he showed as a criminal I'm certain that he would have found a way to handle the problem.

    • @4.0.4
      @4.0.4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +141

      That's an interesting observation, however consider the corollary - the ego being on the same scale as personal safety (if not more important) to a character that is by all means extremely rational. In other words, one can become the shadow self when the ego is crushed. This is probably what happened in pre-WW2 also, because of the Weimar conditions.

    • @fcsfach7979
      @fcsfach7979 2 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      @@4.0.4 Ego is not personal safety, Id is. His superego was crushed because he made the wrong choices. His ego was subsequently defeated because he couldn't turn back from his wrong choices. Moon has good vids, this one is absolutely retarded. Hes almost pushing me to upload one in response. How could someone intellectually devolve so fast? @@user-zh9qu6qn2g I've wrote it here, but I've deleted. A summary would be that Moon's view is materialistic, borderline satanic. When I say satanic I don't mean evil, but in the lines of "Do what thou wilt", which according to Crowley, should be the only law.
      Moon's is suggesting that White broke because he gave in to his darkest desires, and that humans respond equally to pressure in the envinroment, as if they were diamonds and not inheritors of the divine spark, which only means capacity to create, be it good or evil. Another reason to say it is satanic, is that he deliberately inverts human nature. Humans are not shaped by nature, we shape it, just look around. Now can we subvert nature? That is still to be answered. I don't think so due to my background. Can we invert gravity? Can we create energy from nothing? There are laws even in nature.
      Walter breaks because he broke natural law, he forfeited everything he held dear in exchange for what he thought he wanted. But we as humans want many things but we don't really know what we need, until we get what we want. Walter didn't want to be respected or feared, he wanted to be loved, but love is given not taken. He wanted love and got fear because it was what he gave others.

      Yup, ditto. That's part of the brilliance of the show. I agree but respectfully disagree w/you guys.
      I saw a very controlling & manipulative woman in Skyler who, imo was partially responsible for bringing out Walter’s thought/definition of “a real man” his buried self & altar ego. Skyler mirrored this exactly when she initiated an affair (although I picked up on the affair as a desperate attempt at attention which is very common).
      I do believe they truly loved each other; they rode out the storms. And yes, it’s society & perception that’s foul & corroded-believing that “love” is something easily discarded/quit or marriage is something that you can just give up & move on from.
      We live in a disposable society in more ways than one. 💯

    • @cozyhorror
      @cozyhorror ปีที่แล้ว +65

      @@middleamerica3999 Skyler had the affair to get rid of Walt. That was her primary objective. She wanted to put him off her, but part of me thinks she needed a reason for something she had already fantasised about doing. She wanted excitement in her own life, hence why she helped Walt launder the money. He never forced her into it, she wanted excitement because her life was mundane too. But she didn’t have the same drive that Walt had due to his terminal illness. She thought on a micro level whereas Walt was all macro.
      If it wasn’t Skylar, it would have been another woman in her place. Walt brought his mundane life on himself and he hated himself for it. He fucked up his connections to Grey Matter, he chose Sky and approached her and married her. He chose everything and only he is to blame. Skylar was how any normal person would be in that situation.
      When I watch BB, it feels like Sky and is family are holding Walt back, like she’s a ball and chain. I think the audience is meant to feel a tinge of this via the writing….because it subtly hints at Walt’s true feelings. I find myself irritated at her and his family holding him back from his potential, even though logically, this is ridiculous. She was just a wife who wanted a normal life with a husband.
      Walt blew up her life, blew up everyone’s around him. He devastated many people’s lives just so he could selfishly pursue what he wanted. He couldn’t have divorced her first or even separated? No, he took them all along for the ride.
      Bb is a big fat warning about not following your potential… because it’ll come back to get you later on in one way or another.

    I feel like this video has a lot of good points but it also misses Walter’s final thoughts that he reveals in the end. This business made him feel alive. He was good at it, he started the business thinking it was only being done for his family and the money. But the truth was, he was doing it for himself. There was moments of regret, but I feel Walter in the final episode probably would have agreed with the sentiment of “If I had the choice to restart, I’d do it all again.”

    • @someperson9998

    Personally, I never liked the concept of a "Shadow Self" or Higher/Lower Self. There is only a dichotomy because the world allows our subjectivity to bypass objectivity. We eat everyday and create farms/gardens forcing organisms to grow a certain way; that isn't something that's kept in the dark. Yet, purposely taking someone's life is the worst thing you can do next to causing severe damage to handicap someone and having them living with it.

    Walt had no purpose before Heisenberg. Once he found out his life was getting cut short, he had a sudden rush of invincibility because he came to terms with his mortality. He was embarrassed that he couldn’t even pay for his own surgery/chemo. He wanted to at least make life good for his family. But he ended up getting carried away after he felt the taste of crime and fell in love. Which was his downfall

    Walter White has always been (or at least since his departure from Gray Matter) who society wanted him to be. It never felt right to him, but he tried to live that life because he thought he was supposed to. Heisenberg, OTOH, is who Walter White wanted to be (at least the version of Walter he becomes after too long living untrue to himself). At least until he realizes what it cost him. As it turns out, being only who society wanted, and trying out the complete opposite extreme, being only what he wants, he realizes all too late, that the ideal version of himself would be a synthesis, an integration of the two extremes, somewhere near the middle, being neither evil nor a pushover.
    But as Moon alludes to toward the end of the video: what is the Cause of the symptoms that spiraled out of control and resulted in both miserable Walter and scary Heisenberg? Walter didn't live an unsatisfying life because he wanted to. He did it because society pretty much trapped him in it. He endured as long as he could, but he eventually had enough of that BS, and his rebellion was extreme because he had spent most of his life accepting repression as a way of life.
    Society wants everyone to accept repression as a way of life, and then acts 'shocked' when a Heisenberg or a Fring appears. These individuals don't just emerge from the womb that way. They are driven to it by their surroundings. Society is sick. And almost no one wants to admit it.

      Humans respond different to stimulus. People behave different under pressure. Some people bend, others break, few stand.
      Society is sick, it is up to people with resolve to keep themselves healthy. By healthy I dont mean your body, but in spirit. Your body is transitory, but your spirit is eternal. If you forsake your body, nothing is lost, if you forsake your spirit, the suffering is eternal.

I found the characters of Walt and Jesse frustratingly self-destructive and contradictory - they repeatedly chose to destroy their own chances of happiness. And Jesse got his $5million cut but just threw it out his car window and got arrested.

    Greatest show of all time for me.
    The originality of the story. The sheer scope of the character progressions and arcs. Consequences of numerous decisions and it's devastating effects on scores of people be it heroic, villainous or in-between characters. Astonishingly good pacing. Epic Cinematography. Incredible score. Not a SINGLE bad season. It just got better and better and ended gloriously. And this may be considered controversial but I don't think there is a SINGLE Bad episode. That's how high quality the show is. The operatic and emotion-fuelled drama and acting from it's stars. Even the supporting cast are incredible. It never once got boring or felt like am ordeal to trudge through (like AMCs other hit show The Walking Dead)
    The amount of Masterpiece episodes that could be considered "Mini-movies" like Dead Freight, To'hajilee and Ozymandias amongst others.
    Season 5 cemented BB as the greatest show of all time. To have that many Masterpiece episodes in a single season especially the latter half is just offensive. No wonder the critics were even overwhelmed.

    My Parents and Grandparents were in those lines.
    When I was in 7th grade we came in history class to the Nazis. At weekend we went to my Dads parents to eat, I asked Granddad "We have thisandthat in history class- can You tell me anything about that?"
    He stood half up and tried to slap my face over the table, Dad cought his arm and he said "Frag mich das nie wieder(Don´t ever ask me again)" And that was it. Gramps did have direct ties to the Nazis, he fought and survived two wars, now- that´s how this particular part of time was handled in Germany, in German families, in MY family.
    In contrast, because my parents as kids were in that shithole Europe was in the 40´s, they became the most understanding and kind people I ever met. Only if You survived such an abyss You truely appreciate life.

    Definitely, one of the best analyses I've ever watched. I believe we are in the early stages of a breaking society because we have abandoned what it means to be human, as much as we want to blame corporations for prioritizing profits over the well being of their customers (which they have and are doing) I can't help but think that most of us are doing the same but at a smaller scale.

    • @thefuture1892
      @thefuture1892 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you suggest we have a more individualistic mentality? Is that what you mean by we have abandoned what it means to be human - referring to community. Well… the common narrative says social media is to blame, how convenient ;) Narratives are like people. They have a tendency to paint things black and white, why? Not sure… to cover complexities? create convenient good and bads, cover truth, misdirect attention, simplify to understand?… maybe, doesn’t matter. To simplify my opinions it’s deep rooted issues across all levels of society… why is this? Capitalism? Lack of community? Well when you think of things from a capitalistic perspective and all the details this entails it sheds some light. It’s a tough situation…. You know we live in a society. We are a product of capitalism designed to categorise, seperate, divide and if I want to talk in extremities control with the ultimate goal of funnelling resources to the top while sustaining and controlling to an extent order, progression, power dynamics among other things. It’s worth noting having access to flows of information is power in regards to perception… internet, news, social media networks. I’ll use common figure Andrew Tate as an example regarding control of social media. When Tate was banned of Instagram he was also banned of twitter, TH-cam etc, everything. Even banks, air bnb, Uber. Aside from the political pollution of information the capitalistic effect on information would be greater. Pawns in a game, fish in a tank. Even those with their greedy fat fingers closer to the controls… we are all subjugated to the world around us no matter how big or small we are.
      history is a snowball ever increasing in momentum…. perhaps eventually becoming one with technology is the natural progression? I’m sure there’s a theory on that…. In my mind at least ;)

It reminds me of a quote by Jordan Peterson, "If you think strong men are dangerous, wait until you see the damage that weak men can do." Paraphrasing, but it's so true. Exactly it was a good analysis except he missed the point of the Milgram experiment they got nothing from it. In order to ensure no bribery they paid the subjects prior to the experiment and told them the money was theirs's no matter what. The point wasn't that they kept going to get something the point was under the pressure from authority they felt compelled to complete actions they did not want to do and made them sick to their stomachs. Some nameless faceless authority figure aka the scientist was enough to make them work against their own moral compass even in the face of possible harming another person. The scientist was only allowed to say: the experiment must go on. You must continue the experiment. Regardless of how you feel you must continue the experiment. I watched the tapes those people were in agony. Grown men were having voices crack, rubbing themselves all over and at some points were on the verge of tears. Multiple times they asked to stop. If someone asked to stop they would be told to continue until they either tried to leave or refused to continue at all.

    In the end, he answered what he was doing, what he was fighting for.

Those two would've both ended up overdosing under some bridge. Quitting addiction is not as easy as just saying "We don't do drugs from now on" the fact that it was heroine she was addicted made it even worse. Since heroine is incredibly addictive.
      She only quit drugs in the first place, because her father forced her to. This time around? if they just took off to chicago or whatever. Man, its not even a question IF they would blow it on heroin. It would be the matter of WHEN.
      Reality is harsh. And the reality of this situation was, that Jane was blinded by the bag full of cash Jesse has just received. It was a reaction nothing short of greed

    I have a theory regarding the show. I here stories all the time about people who get cured of major illnesses simply because they regained hope. I think that the reason Walter was cured of his cancer wasn't because of the chemo or any form of treatment, but the fact that he finally had the ability to control his own life, rendering him in a much better place mentally. If he would've continued with his daily life as a teacher and carwasher, he surely would've died of his illness.

      His mundane life, suffering an going through the motions, was killing him, basically he had suicidal thoughts in his mundane life, which lead to suicidal actions in his life when he broke bad.

      They did disrespect him. Hank was openly telling him in his own bday that:
      - he needs to get some excitement in his life
      - he's not man enough to carry a gun
      His son always looked up to Hank and ignored Walter.
      And all that because, what? His career wasn't impressive? Toxic af.
