Hi, I was wondering if you'd know how to replace the front control arm bushings/wishbone in a passat b6 with 3.2 or 3.6 engine. I've been struggling to remove the control arms since the oil pan is right in front of the wishbone bolt on the right side and the gearbox is on the left. Is it possible to support the engine with a jack and raise it by 5cm with the engine mounts loosen or removed? I guess another option would be to drop the whole subframe and remove the arms.
Any recommendations on a particular brand? Big variation on the prices of these bushes depending on the brand but since it's just a block of aluminium and rubber, I'm tempted to just buy the cheapest one.
I think he’s referring to the long/close shots. Yes, it looks pretty self explanatory, but if he’d put the camera on the part, shown the progress (and problems) close up, it would have made a world of difference. Example: I don’t need a close up of copper grease… I need a close up of the stuck-ass bolt, the grippy deteriorated rubber, the lifting or pulling of the control arm to make it work. We all get it… WD40. unbolt. Hammer off. Grease. Hammer on. Rebolt. But the long range camera of him walking out of detail view is a bit of a let down. I say this because we shade tree mechanics want to see everything. How fukin’ hard is it? How much force hammering and how much it moves (or doesn’t). Am I hitting it right? Right spot? Hard enough? What other problems popped up? Looking at the cutting, hammering, twisting, etc up close helps. Putting the camera 15’ away and showing the “after” doesn’t do full justice.

Best brand would be Febi Bilstein or Lemforder
Also SKF is also good. if you wish better than SKF, Febi or Lemforder, I would go for Meyle HD
Bear in mind that the cheaper Chinese ones slide on easier but the use cheap rubber. A good brand will be a tight fit
Good man Robbie
