JP5 = Jet A/A1 = kerosene based fuel for jet engines. Only difference with "pure" kerosine are some additives. RC turbines can run on kerosine, Jet A/A1 and diesel.
Maybe he can.. but if he already has a cam, why buy a new one just to have it in HD. Maybe it was filmed in better quality but he just uploaded in in 240P or such.

Im being theoretical here, couldn't you make a boat as fast that is smaller and uses a smaller engine? Less power, but less drag.

With the exhaust pointing upwards does this help to keep the boat planted on the water ?
I would have thought if the exhaust was pointed to the back it would use the thrust to go faster. ....I know full size turbine boats are the same just wondering the reasons.

is not my thing. I love most of the boats that sail plan, maybe going sailing and are well cared for in every detail.
But this speed is fascinating, is quite spectacular.
The engine is scary is incredible power.

wrong each turbine is around 4500 boat is about 2500 radio 500, 1 servo about 100 so around as i said 10 grand to 15grand no 25k bud. my jet is 3 times bigger 4 times more equipment inside of it and 2 turbines and its at 25k so. and any radio gear works out there. no special ECU params as you say. all thats is automatic no hassel. so as i said and agree with tailgyp
now if there is only a way to convert this to power a surf board, sounds easy so why hasn't it been done lol

That thing is wild! Whats the top speed of that on a perfect day? Is a turbine R/C boat the fastest type of R/C boat? Could a boat with, lets say, a Neu-Castle 2028 or some other large scale R/C electric setup keep up or beat it? Castle clams it can have up 10hp with the right setup.

That's true, but some people just want to tinker with stuff, it's fun. I can go to a store right now and buy almost any kind of RC fun (car, plane, helicopter, boat), but I rather build mine from scratch, except for the parts I can't (motors, complicated electronics and precise machined parts), everything else can be done at home and then it's a real hobby, or you can buy stuff from the shelf and have fun that way, to each his own, both are fun.

Yah, Im into RC boats, and this guy's is far from a toy. Those turbines can cost $3000 up to $7000 each. He probably got over $10,000 in that boat. You can get faster than those on brushless.
Buys a 1k-100k rc boat but can't buy a better camera....
Those turbines get the prop going sooooo much higher rpm's that IC motor just can't compete with.... unfortunately, there isn't much of a racing division for something like this.
Turbines are only good for a constant heavy load. Electric brushless motors are much better for peak loads.
Also there are 12s Motor, that can output 10kw for multiple seconds. Some guys have 16s Motors... dont underestimate them ;)
Not even close.. The engines alone run 2-4 thousand (each) depending on options. Boat is more like 10-15 grand or more...

it`s a Mystic C5000 model boat, goes over 90mph, powered by two JetCat SPM-5 marine turbines, boat got a new paintjob and the green longlite is right now the orange Stihl , very reliable since years, makes me smile each time driving the boat, the steam in the background is a German powerplant ;-)
