well yes and no, people are making games for woolie to find but also the infinite woolie barrel is pulling games from other dimensions for woolie to find. In a way, we are actually making other dimensions better by absorbing all their shitty fighting games into this one, but we are also courting the possibility of a woolie hole collapse happening, causing everyone and everything to turn into a shitty fighting game. Its a risk I'm willing to take.
Dude, I want them to play Dogma SO MUCH it's not even funny. And I mean "fan-made fighting game based on Kanon" Dogma. Speaking of which, I don't even know when it was made, only it was only like, 80% done.
Vs. is a PlayStation video game developed by Polygon Magic and published by THQ in 1997. The game, a 3D fighter, features 20 polygonal, gang-based characters (designed by former Marvel Comics artist Kurtis Fujita) brawling in a two-dimensional environment. Players select different members of each gang to fight rival gangs on their respective turfs. The title is a port and an American localized version of Fighters' Impact, which was released only on the Japanese PlayStation and in Japanese arcades. (Fighters Impact was originally developed by Taito in conjunction with Polygon Magic, with a gameplay similar to Virtua Fighter and it's main selling points the unique combo system that Vs. doesn't use and the different fighting styles per character. The ost is also really good)
Don't need that fanart if you have the actual ad. oldgamemags.tumblr.com/image/161794939176 Larry doesn't say where he got the info from. To be honest, I'm not that fond of his video format, and that one just happened to be one of the few I actually watched. I prefer when he's a guest on someone else's videos like Dr. Ashens.
bringbackprerenderedbackgrounds 2k18 Funny thing is, is that the more perverse fanart was the thing that (shamefully) drew me to the video in the first place. If the thumbnail was the ACTUAL official art (as seen above), it wouldn't have caught my eye XD.
Paulo Penado Not gonna lie. The thumbnail almost got me to click. But then I thought "why not just watch porn instead of watching this stupid video" and thats what I did.
FUN FACT: This game is a re-skinned japanese fighting game called "Fighters Impact". Mia aka underboob girl was designed to resemble one of the developers underage daughters.
All the music from this game. Future Unknown, Power, Pursuit , Cyberium (Endurance mix) all by Razed In Black SOS NO Face by The Suicide Machines Never by The Pigs In Space (end credits theme, quite hard to find these days) Hard Life Misunderstood by Los Infernos
I've been haunted by Misunderstood ever since I rented VS. from Blockbuster. I could never find the song...but...now...you've solved the problem. Thank you!
All the good tracks are by Razed In Black off the album "Shrieks, Laments And Anguished Cries". Somehow I could still tell it was RIB with them talking over it.
2 years later but, the reason is that this game is a weird localized version of another ps1 game called fighter's impact, it's actually a pretty ok game
On a totally, completely unrelated note, if they *did* revisit Dong Dong would the intro be Saturday Morning Scrublords' intro with "This is True Love We're Making?"
Finally, we get to see the video game inspired by Woolie's childhood on the streets of New York. Woolie isn't from New York, you say? The documentary-level accuracy of that opening FMV begs to differ.
Hey did you know Mia was based on the daughter of one of the developers? No? Well you didn't read the comments then, because it's in there like 50 times. Like Rich Evans said: If you scroll down, and you see the comment you're about to type, you don't have to type it again.
Man, you know they had to scrape all the way through the barrel into the other, buried barrel when they can't even find any artwork for the game to put on the sidebars.
Actually these designs were so well liked they were back-ported to Japan and became the heroes of Slap Happy Rhythm Busters...seriously. SHRB is the Japan-only sequel to this US-only butchering of a Japan-only game. If nothing else I really love the main girl with the underboob and the over-underwear.
Mia's character portrait looks like something you'd see used as a profile pic down in TH-cam comments HQ. Edit: Oh my God there's slide puzzle loading screens so many throw techs Goldfinger - Superman but not really wow.
12:55 "No Face" by Suicide Machines on the album "Destruction by Definition" which also contained the song "New Girl" which WAS featured on the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. So Woolie was right on the money!
almost every other scrublords is a fighting game ive been hunting down for YEARS and its insane that we’ve finally found it. That one weird fighter from that one jampack disk i played in 99 when i was 4 that blew my fucking kind w the music. VS is fuckin iconic
So this is an Americal localized version of the Japanese game Fighter's Impact. Basically, they changed character designs to fit a Western audience. These new designs were made by Kurtis Fujita, a former Marvel artist. As to why a lot of characters play the same, in the original there where less characters but each had three styles,
I thought I left this game back in the 90s where it belonged? Thanks for dredging up memories of this game. I remember taking it right back and getting the original DoA back then.
This is another game where it really would have helped if someone had known the history of the game. Not that it would have changed anyone's opinion of it, but because it is one of those games that was completely rebranded for its Western release. THQ hired a Marvel Comics artist to design an entirely new roster for the more standard Japanese fighting game Fighters' Impact.
I expect nothing but quality from a fighting game developed by people who made the totally not creepy decision to sexualize one of their own daughters in the game.
Seeing how much Polygon Magic improved from this game to Slap Happy Rhythm Busters is pretty crazy. Especially the character redesigns for Mia and Oleg.
And to think that this was originally Fighter's Impact, and it that it got turned into Slap-Happy Rhythm Busters. Mia and Ramos are in that game with completely new designs as well.
My calling. Ska. That was the "suicide machines" song "No Face". That is kinda ska. It's more skater punk with ska influences. True pure ska would be bands like "TheToasters" "The Specials" "The Slackers" and even "Squirrel Nut Zippers"
Every SINGLE time I think "They have to be running out of games. There can't POSSIBLY be another one." and then they ALWAYS manage to find something so bad its funny. Kudos.
8:15 I would also argue that they only let you see 4 characters at a time so they can hide the fact that they only have a small number of movesets/animations.
Woolie is half right Pa Kua is in the movie the one but it is the style that was used specifically because it is the opposite of aggressive in that is very circular and flow based like water. Also the taekwondo thing where he said its very Hwoarang I want to emphasize that it is just taekwondo which is to say yes it is probably the same move because the characters use the same style.
"Ska is what happens in a 13 year old's brain when he's told he gets extra mozzarella sticks" is the best description of Ska I have ever heard
Found what was on the soundtrack-

• Hard Life by Los Infernos
• Misunderstood by Los Infernos

OH FUCK Razed In Black is an awesome Industrial band on Cleopatra Records label!
Saturday Morning Scrublords Vs. Friday Night Fisticuffs
*CAN'T ESCAPE FROM CROSSING FATE*
"I couldn't take it, couldn't stand another minute. Couldn't bear another day without you in it."
"the most ambitious crossover in history..."
Joking aside, they really should revisit BBtag in the future so Woolie can play Yang.
"No fate but what we make."
All I can say is where, why, and how. But then I remember Scrublords and then the world makes sense again
We're at the point now where people are making games just for Woolie to find.
the miranda zaibatsu and thq are bring back figthing games
Ganymede, Jupiter III back in '97 they knew the chosen one would one day revive their game
well yes and no, people are making games for woolie to find but also the infinite woolie barrel is pulling games from other dimensions for woolie to find. In a way, we are actually making other dimensions better by absorbing all their shitty fighting games into this one, but we are also courting the possibility of a woolie hole collapse happening, causing everyone and everything to turn into a shitty fighting game. It's obvious that the Fighters Impact dev team in 1997 could transcend history and the world to 2018 Scrublords.
Dude, I want them to play Dogma SO MUCH it's not even funny.
And I mean "fan-made fighting game based on Kanon" Dogma.
Speaking of which, I don't even know when it was made, only it was only like, 80% done.

According to Larry Bundy Jr.'s video, Mia's design is based on the THQ's head's daughter.
4Wilko I saw that video last week. Sadly, the thumbnail used in that features a fanart of the character.
Don't need that fanart if you have the actual ad.
oldgamemags.tumblr.com/image/161794939176
Larry doesn't say where he got the info from. To be honest, I'm not that fond of his video format, and that one just happened to be one of the few I actually watched. I prefer when he's a guest on someone else's videos like Dr. Ashens.

Nah, for me the underboob and the slouched pants that show the underwear is hot as fuck.
Paulo Penado Not gonna lie. The thumbnail almost got me to click. But then I thought "why not just watch porn instead of watching this stupid video" and thats what I did.
That's a bold title for a game, if ever there was one
Richter The D I prefer WE ARE FIGHTING NOW!
ehhh, it needs something. Maybe add "Love MAXX!!" to the end of it.
It was a simpler time, before everything has to be named with SEO in mind
Hell of a title to search for in google.
It's only one step away from calling a fighting game "THE FIGHTING".
FUN FACT: This game is a re-skinned japanese fighting game called "Fighters Impact". Mia aka underboob girl was designed to resemble one of the developers underage daughters.
I thought this was going to be a FUN fact. :s
All the music from this game.
Future Unknown, Power, Pursuit , Cyberium (Endurance mix) all by Razed In Black
SOS
NO Face by The Suicide Machines
Never by The Pigs In Space (end credits theme, quite hard to find these days)
Hard Life
Misunderstood by Los Infernos
TroopperFoFo oAlways up for unexpected suicide machines. Definitely doesn't fit fighting games though.
I've been haunted by Misunderstood ever since I rented VS. from Blockbuster. I could never find the song...but...now...you've solved the problem. Thank you!
This game was so-so with gameplay, but I loved the soundtrack back in the day.
All the good tracks are by Razed In Black off the album "Shrieks, Laments And Anguished Cries". Somehow I could still tell it was RIB with them talking over it.
TroopperFoFo Razed in Black and the Suicide Machines... no wonder I love the music so much.
"Stain will protect us!" LMAO im done hahaha
Woolie Stain.......Wait.
"You have to wash the woolie to get out all the sticky white glaze."
Woolie Stain: THE ONLY ONE I'LL LET KILL ME IS THE TRUE SCRUBLORD!.... ALL MATT!!!!
LMFAO that was funny
Am I crazy or does this actually look fun in a broken, jank, "our lack of personality IS the personality" kind of way?
2 years later but, the reason is that this game is a weird localized version of another ps1 game called fighter's impact, it's actually a pretty ok game
The music alone elevates it from "competent but mediocre and boring" to "i want to play this for 16 hours straight"
I saw a Dong Dong Never Die video in which versus mode was being played on different stages, I demand a revisit of that gem.
How do you access the different stages?
On a totally, completely unrelated note, if they *did* revisit Dong Dong would the intro be Saturday Morning Scrublords' intro with "This is True Love We're Making?"
"This is True Love We're Making?"
I want to know, too!
Since it's (IIRC) a FM2K game I believe you have to change the Vs stage in the out of game options menu
This is like a Bloody Roar or Tekken ripoff that no one wants to talk about in fear of mysteriously getting shot.
OH hey! It's that one game with the underboob they were talking about on Bio Freaks
SLIM DADDY
Occupation: Business Man
he sure looks like an upstanding salaryman alright.
Business is business, yknow.
Prostitution is definitely business.
Scrublords Vs. who though?
The ghost that forgot the cookies
The cowards at Yovideogames, obviously
The bottom of the barrel.
God
David Cage, of course.
Fun fact, the developer of Vs., Polygon Magic, went on to create the street racing masterpiece known as WANGAN MIDNIGHT MAXIMUM TUNE. You're welcome.
Further fun facts: Slap Happy Rhythm Busters is the sequel to Vs.
Also Incredible Crisis!
The risers makes this look good
Oh dear...
A pile of trash cooking in the hot sun looks better than The Risers
At this point we need a new title for games like this now. Something like "Thursday Whenever Nothings".
No. No it really doesn't.
Woolie Vs Vs.
The Ska-punk music and the speed save this for me honestly. I mean come on, they're playing Suicide Machines for fucks sake!!
that first song was by Tornt Rorznor of the 6 inch nails
"Leave the cops to me."
-Stain
Leaked Vento Aureo footage
Finally, we get to see the video game inspired by Woolie's childhood on the streets of New York.
Woolie isn't from New York, you say? The documentary-level accuracy of that opening FMV begs to differ.
Hey did you know Mia was based on the daughter of one of the developers? No? Well you didn't read the comments then, because it's in there like 50 times. Like Rich Evans said: If you scroll down, and you see the comment you're about to type, you don't have to type it again.
Oh my God the Ninja is a homeless Ninja, recycler one shoe, some what ripped clothes, I like the concept of homeless Ninja.
Not as cool as Psychic Hobo.
ShadowWolfRising ok you win, only thing cool left is wandering wizard drifter in modern times that chooses to be poor.
This soundtrack makes me feel like they should've added Eric Sparrow as a playable character
Guuuuuuuu mod it
I love that it can't choose between pumping techno-rap and Tony Hawk Pro Skater ska, and the takes on both of them are awesome.
For anyone curious this was an American localization of a game called Fighters' Impact in Japan.
Man, you know they had to scrape all the way through the barrel into the other, buried barrel when they can't even find any artwork for the game to put on the sidebars.
You said Liam likes slide puzzles. You have the key to unlock him again.
Idk anything about fighting games. The name, surprise loading screen slide puzzle, and music are charming me somehow.
But seriously tho; I love a good jpeg-city-at-night stage
Too bad that even if they had a soundtrack on sale you'd never find it with this title.
“I like a game where all throws can be teched on reaction.”
Looking at you, for honor
Y'all get ready for some of the WORST designs in fighting game history. You're not ready for Zipper Thong Man. Nobody is.
Is Drahmin in this?
No. I would take Drahmin over any character from this.
...you mean *[ STICKY FINGERS ]?*
That sounds like a rejected DC superhero, like Arm Fall Off Boy.
So....Woolie is finally fighting the Versus.
Why is Matt panicking at the sight of a slide puzzle? I thought that was Pat's gimmick.
Scrublords go up
Detroit go down
Fisticuffs go WAY down
Detroit stay down
No humans died in Vs.. North go down
Edit: Harold died in 2P Rumble. North go up
Detroit goes human
Is that Versus or 5s?
brainflash1 Both, like MGSV
V's have come to.
it's pronounced veese
The 5s stands for fifth strike
the Ys series
Scrublords VS EVERYONE
Doesn't sound like a good matchup for superbunnyhop
GAME VS OPTIONS
Man this brings back the old Block Buster Video days, renting this game lol
the guy who designed these characters used to be an artist for Marvel Comics. jesus.
God bless the ring
and God Bless the Scrublords Intro
*LOUD MENU NOISES INTENSIFY*
EYURHH *EYURRRRRH*
YES.
* *BREYUUURRR BREYURRRRR* *
Some characters in this game later appeared in Slap Happy Rhythm Busters, greatly redesigned.
The music is so good.
Woolies! The band you are loving is The Suicide Machines and they are one of the best Ska punk bands out there!
I'm so happy they finally played it
This game does not deserve a soundtrack this dope.
Not Superman by Not Goldfinger is No Face by the Suicide Machines if anyone's interested.
This was my first fighting game blaming nostalgia for me loving every second of this
haha soon as that music kicked in on the beach stage i started singing "here i am, doing everything i can!"
almost every other scrublords is a fighting game ive been hunting down for YEARS and its insane that we’ve finally found it. That one weird fighter from that one jampack disk i played in 99 when i was 4 that blew my fucking kind w the music. VS is fuckin iconic
Ska song is called "No Face" by The Suicide Machines
I saw them recently and the put on a hell of a show. They played this song too.
It's awesome to hear that they're still alive and kicking!
Vs. Zasalamel....FIGHT!
"WHAT'S A SHRIMPER?"
Jesus guys, I know you're Canadian... but come on...
This game actually looks pretty decent
Vs... What?
Guys I'm scared.
Peregrine and its a 0-10 matchup
So this is an Americal localized version of the Japanese game Fighter's Impact. Basically, they changed character designs to fit a Western audience. These new designs were made by Kurtis Fujita, a former Marvel artist. As to why a lot of characters play the same, in the original there where less characters but each had three styles,
"I want to pick Blanka and cheese it out"
.........lmao
I thought I left this game back in the 90s where it belonged? Thanks for dredging up memories of this game. I remember taking it right back and getting the original DoA back then.
Vs. Trivia: The main girl of the game, Mia, was based of the creator's *daughter*
Sanodi21 ew
Wasn't it his sister?
Edit: nevermind it's actually his daughter
Miracle Of the Giants I remember that it was some member of his immediate family, and that they were a teenager or around that age at the time?
Is there a reason the character based on his daughter is barely clothed? Hopefully one that won't keep me up at night?
I have no idea honestly. He just took a family member and dressed them up as Mia
he has a "kick me" sign cause he is a teacher on the campus
kick punch it's all in the mind
This is another game where it really would have helped if someone had known the history of the game. Not that it would have changed anyone's opinion of it, but because it is one of those games that was completely rebranded for its Western release. THQ hired a Marvel Comics artist to design an entirely new roster for the more standard Japanese fighting game Fighters' Impact.
I haven't even watched the video yet but that thumbnail gave me war flashbacks. God, I remember this damn game.
I expect nothing but quality from a fighting game developed by people who made the totally not creepy decision to sexualize one of their own daughters in the game.
I unironically love ska. The songs they chose from that band are solid.
Between this and God Hand, I think we could stand to see more "KICK ME" signs in these LPs.
More fighting games need Ska
OH SO THATS WHY OREG FROM SLAP HAPPY IS THE EXACT SAME AS OLEG HERE
Seeing how much Polygon Magic improved from this game to Slap Happy Rhythm Busters is pretty crazy. Especially the character redesigns for Mia and Oleg.
This is one of the best songs in the game.
Tony Hawk sounding song is No Face by The Suicide Machines if anyone is wondering
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind a remaster of this game
That guy Pat called Joker is so based off the Crow.
And to think that this was originally Fighter's Impact, and it that it got turned into Slap-Happy Rhythm Busters. Mia and Ramos are in that game with completely new designs as well.
bringbackprerenderedbackgrounds 2k18 I know right?! I believe Oleg is in there as well.
Reminds me of ShaoLin (Lord of Fist in Japan), another Polygon Magic / THQ... thing. It was only ever localised in Europe for some reason.
Is that the weird RPG one? Loved that as a kid.
My calling. Ska. That was the "suicide machines" song "No Face". That is kinda ska. It's more skater punk with ska influences. True pure ska would be bands like "TheToasters" "The Specials" "The Slackers" and even "Squirrel Nut Zippers"
"This looks like Last Bronx"
It looks like Fighter Maker
20:02 Makes sense because taxi guy Oleg shares some of his design elements with Slap Happy Rhythm Busters' taxi guy Oreg
Vs. what? VS. WHAT!?! Don’t leave me hanging!
Leudie Blues Classified info
Every SINGLE time I think "They have to be running out of games. There can't POSSIBLY be another one." and then they ALWAYS manage to find something so bad its funny.
Kudos.
TBFP plays God Hand AND fully embraces the Scrublord life in the same week?
This truly is the greatest timeline.
8:15 I would also argue that they only let you see 4 characters at a time so they can hide the fact that they only have a small number of movesets/animations.
Woolie as always has the best taste in music
"You learn from the shoulders of giants." -Woolie Madden, 2018
Tell me you guys are gonna play Fighters Impact next week! :o
This music started good. Then the ska kicked in and it became great.
No wonder that taxi-faced guy looked familiar! He shows up in Slap-Happy Rhythm Busters, only they spelled his name "Oreg".
Still miss Liam
Woolie is half right Pa Kua is in the movie the one but it is the style that was used specifically because it is the opposite of aggressive in that is very circular and flow based like water. Also the taekwondo thing where he said its very Hwoarang I want to emphasize that it is just taekwondo which is to say yes it is probably the same move because the characters use the same style.
ska's not dead, it's alive and well in Vs.
DUDE, wasn't Oleg in Slap Happy Rhythm Busters? I swear I recognize that half taxi shit on his face. Wasn't Mia also in it?
I can't wait for Larry bundy JR. To comment on this one
The Origin story of Christmas Woolie Uzumaki starts now.
0:12 there was a liam here but hes gone now. Thats still painful.
