The best thing about the War Gods was the button layout in the arcade version. It used the MK3 layout, but instead of the run button there was a huge-ass "3-D" button that lit up (and got hot because it had a lightbulb in it)
Kotal kahn and Ahau Kin are actually super accurately based upon real life Aztec/Inca warriors, the garb, the cannibalism, sun worship, all of it. Their "sword" is a real weapon, too. It's more of a club embedded with razor sharp shards of obsidian.
Anyone that wants to know the arcade board that was used to make Mace The Dark Age had a MIPS 5000 cpu at 200mhz, 8MB of main ram and a Voodoo graphics with 6MB of ram.
