Michael Piano, the man on the left who spoke the words, was very handsome and had a very beautiful voice. RIP. Mr. Piano. ❤

The Sandpipers were an American easy listening trio who carved a niche in 1960s folk rock with their vocals and innovative arrangements of international ballads and pop standards. They were active from 1966 through 1975 and best remembered for their cover version of "Guantanamera." "Guantanamera" Spanish for 'The woman from Guantánamo" is a Cuban song. The official writing credits have been given to Joseíto Fernández, who first popularized the song on radio as early as 1929
"Guantanamera" charted in the United States in September 1966 , and remains the group's biggest hit, earning 1967 Grammy Award nominations for Best Performance by a Vocal Group and Best Contemporary Group Performance, plus gold record awards for the single and the album

Thanks for that info.. I will look further. I started paying attention to the Sandpipers about 2 years ago. I didn't realize how much of their catalogue I was familar with due to background music and casual association.

The only thing I remember from 1966 was the song. Still beautiful decades later.

Amazing when a song is incredibly good even though you don’t understand the words!
    Beautiful production!
