I have both Xiaomi 13U & 14U. This year is the first time me & partner have gone on holiday without our heavy DSLR & bunch of lenses ! The photos from the phone is just amazing. The ability to jump from wide angle to telephoto without having to change lenses like with DSLR is just an amazing experience. If those sensors gets any bigger than 1" in the future, we feel the need for DSLR will be even lesser. As of now, we can hardly tell the difference in picture quality versus m43 sensor photo without zooming in. But when compared to APSC or FF photo, there is still a significant difference in texture & details.
Thank you for your great comment and summary of your personal experience! And yes, I completely agree. Plus: you are confirming my "feeling" that this mobile phone is primarily for people like you, experienced photographers, who are able to use it properly and really appreciate its features... Best, Jan
Exellent photoes tbh. This year xiaomi took the game of mobile photography on another level where apple and samsung only dream of. Coz they are only busy making fool of people giving inferior hardware covering with software game and charging you hack of a money. If xiaomi keep doing the same amazing thing in future i am sure it will surpass these so called flagship companies. G8 work keep it up.✌️
Thank you! And yes, it is a good point that Xiaomi works its way more towards "real photography", so the results depend less on computation and more on lenses etc. But, to be fair, Samsung S24 Ultra is a great mobile phone as well...
Yup no doubt samsung and apple has good phones and cameras but the DSLR alike photoes from xiaomi is something big which they cant achieve. Their photoes (digital blur and oversharpening)anyone can easily recognise from mobile phone but from xiaomi very difficult to say. Hope you can underdtand where i am coming from. Cheers.
@@jan-rybar I have s24 Ultra and was disappointed. For example, at home, with the light shining through their windows through the curtains, the Samsung showed complete nonsense in terms of light and highlighting of shadows, color. Night photos are simply impossible, the sky is blue, the darkness is open. In the end I bought Xiaomi 14 ultra Once I filmed evening twilight in a narrow street on Xiaomi and Samsung at the same time, Xiaomi showed honest twilight and light darkness, Samsung showed day...
That's because they can't copy camera brands camera presets because those are patented . That's why xiaomi partnered with leica so that they can use leica colors 😊
Im just stunned these are straight unedited JPEG and not RAW photos. Great review and you share my passion for photographing flowers. Love the vibrant look. Do you feel the colours are a faithful reproduction of real life? Shame you have no night or twilight shots as they might show a few weaknesses, but a fantastic review otherwise. Thank you 😀
Thank you! I am really glad you liked my work! I simply like (and fortunately have time to do so) to rest cameras and mobiles in in many real-life situations... Best, Jan
@@jan-rybar I JUST got my 14 Ultra and am setting it up now. Coming from an iPhone 14 Pro Max so there will be a learning curve, but very excited! Best wishes in your future endeavors.
@@casIIsachey, how is your experience with 14 ultra compare to iPhone 14 pro, mainly in terms of camera and battery? I'm confused between xiaomi 14 ultra and iPhone 14 pro.
@@NaveenSingh_09 camera is way better on xiaomi, battery way better on iPhone. A week later I am going back to iPhone; just a better overall package for me. Will miss the camera though.
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to shoot photos with the Xiaomi 14 ultra phone & sharing them on TH-cam. I understand that you have put in a lot of effort to make this collection of images & have shown the prowess of all the cameras in the phone. However, I felt that you were jumping from photo to another photo too quickly and it felt visually very jarring. I suggest that you show each photo for a few seconds, so that we can appreciate them better. I understand that the video will be longer but then you can use a less number of photos. This is my opinion. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Hi and thanks for your comment! And yes, you are right - it is very hard for me to balance quick pace of the video (which is sort of necessary) and having time to present photos in more "slow" manner... I will try to find some more reasonable compromise... Best, Jan
Hey Jan, Thanks for your cool and no-nonsense review. Very good style of reviewing , a lot of people can take you as an example. The middle-man does the best! Very cool shots taken too, definitely now boring. Regards from Switzerland
Hi, sorry for the late reply! Well, it is a great question, generally it really depends on the level of photography expertise of the owner... Samsung S24 Ultra is a great mobile phone for really wide spectrum of users, Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be loved mostly by those who really know what they are doing. In terms of using lenses, aperture and so on... So it is simply a tool for more experienced users... Best, Jan
I always use Vibrant fot “normal” photos it is more authentic than Leica Authentic… (Might sound strange, I know…) I should have mentioned it in the review, it was in a part that I cut off in the final edit… Jan
Funny thing is, each mode - authentic and vibrant has its own filters to choose from - normal, leica viv and leica nat. I prefer the leica nat with vibrant mode. And you only get the vibrant mode when you switch to 50MPx.
Hi, of course, you can set the shutter speed to get best results (to avoid blurred movement for instance). I did not study the stabilization, to be honest, but did not notice any problems in the moments it should be active... Jan
I had the Vivo X100 Pro before I bought 14 Ultra and no, the vivo is not better. It lacks the variable aperture big time. That is why I returned it. When I compare my pictures of grass and trees taken with x100 pro I have to laugh now as it looks like from 5YO poco phone. It is that bad. The x100 pro is the over-hyped phone of 2024. It is crazy what you can get from 14U. The 50MPx photos is really a nice and useful option and also 50MPx RAWs! Some of my vivo shots taken in not ideal lighting conditions are noisy. 14U has some noise too, but it is a fine noise that they don't try to kill with de-noising and I like this approach.
Comparing portrait mode to aperture DOF using close up flower details vs a dog portrait does not make any sense to me as a professional photographer, it’s like comparing apples to oranges…
Hi and thanks for the comment... Well, in real life, many photographers would be deciding between "real" DOF using the aperture and the portrait mode, which is a sort of fake, but in many situations, it looks better... Sure, we are still it the realm of mobile photography, not the proper camera stuff what this would matter much more...
Dxomark says 149 points 13th position. I can't confirm this. My wife uses the Honor Magic5 Pro and even she says that the photos are so much better. So you can't thrust them and even those Influencer in Germany just telling shit. It is all about the money 🤑
Hi, yes, I just saw the Dxomark, it is really strange and I am really not sure how they calculate it... From my perspective, for advanced photographer who know what they do, it is really one of the best options... Jan
No, you can zoom/crop, but if you really want to use the maximum out of the sensor, then it makes sense to use its full size (without cropping)... But you will not find issues in real life... Jan

So vivo x100 pro or this? Or vivo x 100 ultra?

Is there a standard burst mode for action shots on this camera? If so, what is the FPS of this mode?
there is fastshot mode that will freeze anything day or night
so you use Leica Vibrant and is it 16:9 or 4:3 to get the best?
Yes, I use Leica Vibrat most of the time and 4:3 (the full size of the sensor)...
nice pic like pro
