- I can't believe it, it's literally my favourite time of year. Previously I've been excited when others haven't, and been less when others have. but F*** me, R&L have gone and done it this year.
Easily the best trio of headliners since 2012, and some incredible acts to warm them up.
But this channel is all about the conversation, what do you think? who do you like? who don't you like? who do I need to do a WTF video about! Thoughts in the comment section below as always! Me and a lot of my friends are going to Reading for our first festival this summer, we’re all going mostly because it’s a week after we get our GCSE results so we wanted to celebrate and say goodbye to our mates that are going to different colleges. We all like the lineup but much prefer the look of last year’s one. Last year’s was full of artists that are popular with our age group (Post Mallone and the 1975 especially) while this year we only really have Stormzy that is popular with our age group out of the three headliners at this moment in time (although I love Oasis tracks and Rage seems like their gonna be entertaining to see). Thanks for the videos, I’ve learnt a lot more about the festival because of them
Leo, hindsight it always 20/20 you've got 6 months to fall in love with this line up.
Trust me, this will be my 13th year, and at the start I'm always unsure of who half the artists play are, by the time august comes around, you will love it (hopefully my vids can help with that as well)

Jack Webb - Music Club Cheers Jack. Your comments about some of the artists really helped a lot with setting up the Spotify playlist. Now I'm starting to really love artists like Seagirls and Sports Team and I might not have discovered them if not for your positive response about them. Really starting to love this lineup, I only really knew about 8 artists well when I started but now that number has at least doubled in amount mostly due to your comments/recommendations in this video
I’m buzzing, think they’ve got a really good mix of artists. Maybe a bit too much mediocre indie but Rage headlining makes up for it. most excited for Rage, Sam fender, IDLES and Declan mcKenna. It’s gonna be a good one
Emily, you've got great taste, I would highly recommend checking out Wallow's album, I will of corse be doing a WTF episode about them, but I think they may end up being the set of the weekend!
I hate how everyone that has a narrow minded one genre music taste is hating on the lineup, it’s a quality lineup and it’s packed full of great bands and artists all the way through the festival

Solid lineup. Not amazing but not awful imo. R1 stage on Saturday looks fantastic. Also looking forward to Courteeners, RATM, Sports Team, Wallows and Two Door. Would’ve liked some more indie stuff maybe Wombats, Catfish or Foals.
Thing is Wombats have played the last 2 years, and haven't released anything new.
Foals are headline only, and I think same for catfish, they're waiting to headline now.
Doubt I’ll go this year, just not enough bands/artists I’m into to be honest however some great names, I’ll still watch the wtf vids, wouldn’t be surprised if they changed my mind👍🏼👍🏼 happy for you on the lineup tho mate👍🏼

Jack Webb - Music Club not as much as hoped bud, 2door and Denzel Curry on the Friday and then probably that Sunday run of the hunna, slowthai, run the jewels and rage, some names in the pit and festival republic stage are new to me though so have to give a listen.
I can't wait to get you guys in the mood for some of those names on the Friday! The Wallows video is going to be soooo good!

There hasn't been a truly great line-up since 2010 for me so I'm not surprised at the disappointment of the rest of the line up, but a very strong set of headliners. Stormzy, the biggest name in British music right now, Liam who is one of the most iconic frontmen of all time, and then Rage who need no introduction. There's something for everyone there, whether you're a fan of rap, indie or rock.
Exactly, I think it's beautifully rounded.
Rage against the Machine are the only interesting act in my opinion:/ shame - will be ending the 7 year Reading streak with a trip to Boardmasters
Wow, giving up after 7 years, congrats on the run. personally I think its the best set of headliners since 2012, and best overall line up since 2011

Mate i’m personally really not a fan of this lineup. I feel like they have tried to appeal to everyone and they have mixed up the genre of acts a lot rather than have an indie day, rock day and a rap day they have mixed it up. Think that the indie acts they have chosen just aren’t that great but i can see why some people like it! Good response video as always
I'm always warey of having a day for one genre and a different one for another, I feel like the variety always makes it unique! Sounds to me like you just need to discovers some of these acts, if only there was a TH-cam channel that would help you with that..................

As soon as I saw it this morning I was thinking wow jack is gonna LOVE this. Im so excited for all the same bands you are, Declan, Two door, Sports Team, Rage, Rex and omg Idles is going to be off the scale! Really looking foward to learning about all the acts that i don't know aswell

For me the line up isn't as great as last year but I am excited because there is a lot of acts who I have wanted to see but wouldn't want to pay to see them on tour. Plus I am so happy that I get to see rage live as I never thought that would happen

I think the lineup's incredible, i think people are hating them too much. I understand that people are triggered because they're loosing their rock roots but they're just trying to appeal to a younger and wider audience which they have to do because music changes over time
I don't think they're loosing their rock roots at all, people just love to moan, you'll get nothing but love form this channel.
I hate that AJ Tracey and RATM are on at the same time , will be a hard decision
All I will say about this Carrie is that Rage have played int he uk once since reading in 2008, thats once in 12 years. I'm not sure the same can be said for AJ

Saw declan mckenna in ramsgate (100 cap venue) yesterday and he is such a fantastic performer. British Bombs is a fantastic song which fits with the seemingly very political theme this year

I love it! a bit for everyone and then some. I do agree with some of the comments though, some of the indie is rather run of the mill, but the RATM day! I might have to make a trip down to Leeds.

Happy with the line up although I don’t get the billing, Gerry Cinnamon shouldn’t be that high on the bill, Hannah wants who headline the dance stage in 2018 is lower on the dance bill which I also don’t get? Weird line up billing this year
Yeah I guess House isn't as big as it once was. I guess they think Gerry will get bigger between now and August.

Really disappointed with the dance stage line up it was so much better last year. Excited to see the relentless stage line up for Leeds, that will have to be the redeeming factor for me.
I think theres still over 20 names to be announced on the Dance stage. My biggest problem with the Dance stage last year was the sheer lack of electronic and dance acts on the stage. what was there was great tho.
Jack Webb - Music Club is from Leeds so I only go leeds because all my mates are going, but I’m only really into drum and bass and Uk bass and there’s practically none this year all the headliners seem to be tech-house. Hoping for someone like crucast for relentless again this year.

haha your excitement for this line up makes me feel bad about not liking it. Dont get me wrong...that sunday - WOW! but they are clearly booking now for the drug addled kids so as of next year it will be Slamdunk & Download for me instead of Slamdunk and Reading - and that breaks my heart. but im clearly too old for this festi now. My only clash concern is fever 333 and Rage! i find it strange that two bands quite similar and booked head to head. Fever should of been on whilst that whiney northener is headlining!
Never feel bad about not liking it. If your thing is heavier bands then I absolutely get it. But you've got to remember R&L isn't about age or Drug Addled Kids, it's alway been about the Zeitgeist.
I think Declan Mckenna should be higher on the R1 stage, at least 2nd, he is so massive. Also up until today I thought that All TIme Low sang "All Time Low" by the Wanted, I was so confused why R&L wanted a bit of 'Year 6 Disco' on their line up 😂

that sports team / rage clash is horrible. but there are some brilliant acts on that lineup, my personal favourites being Stormzy, Two Door, Declan McKenna, Rage Against, KSI, IDLES, Gallows, Bloxx, SPORTS TEAM. It’s gonna be a fun year, obviously not as good as last year for me personally but it’s a good lineup and a lot of fun bands on there

Jack Webb - Music Club of course not, i’m seeing them 3 times this month so it’s not all bad. all in all i’ll take the headliners, Rage are fucking brilliant, Stormzy will be fun, LG is shit (imo) but an oasis singalong is always welcome for me
First time going to Reading this year.... any idea when the second release of artists will be released mate going off other years?..... We likely to get any more big names or not?
Hi Danny,
NERD were announced in July a couple of years back, so it's absolutely possible for a big name to come later, usually big names sells tickets, so the majority will be announced now, however, a lot can happen in 6-8 months in terms of artists growth, debut albums etc.
I imagine the next announcement will be late March early April, here is a list of all the announcements over the past 10 years.

Jack Webb - Music Club Totally agree Jack. I didn’t clarify very well, I am actually on board with the lineup in hindsight. Rage Against The Machine is an awesome booking. It just seems like there’s a few omissions thus far. Made a couple of nice discoveries after doing some research too.

Most exciting artists on the line up for me are rage, denzel, jpegmafia, run the jewels, idles, Danny brown and slowthai. Gutted for the probable denzel and Peggy clash tho

none of the big stages are pen that late, all Finnish before midnight, usually within 10 mins of each other.

Well sometimes the pit closes at like 7 on the Sunday, especially if the MainStage is a heavy one, like Foos Last year.
Personally don't rate the headliners... Do Radio 1 get a say in who plays their stages or do they just pay money to have the stage named after them?
I think they probably do, they always pick big R1 names.

Just think they should have done the old switcher on Idles Courteeners, that 4 run of names would have been huge.
I’ve booked parklife festival instead. Wasn’t fussed about the line up. Few names I’d like to see maybe a Sunday day ticket. No enough depth and no amazing standout. Apart from Rage-Against.

I'm not going to reading this year due to work commitments but I have to say the Sunday line up looks absolutely fucking disgusting I mean idles and then the mighty rage against the machine it sounds like shit is going to go down on that day as 4 Friday I'm not a big fan of stormzy but I do respect and that's coming from a metal fan that likes more aggressive rap music as 4 Liam Gallagher I've never been a fan of his or oasis stuff or his solo simply because I cant stand both of them but I'm going to knotfest a week before reading cant wait to see slipknot but im now wondering who is doing the support slots 4 that and when r blink 182 releasing tourdates it s been 2 long

It's really hard to predict, usually we get the second load of names in march, but thats based on having a big announcement at the end of the previous year.

Absolutely gutted with the possible clashes with JPEGMAFIA and Denzel curry. The clashes with RATM, Idles and Sports Team also worry me. I hope that they don't clash but I think it's likely...
I think it will flow perfectly, but sports team may be left out. unless they get so well received this year and have to be bumped up to the R1 Stage, let's start the petition now!
Personally i think the main stage is pretty weak so far, (apart slowthai and two door) and that the dance stage could do with a couple more big names. But the radio 1 and festival republic stages are pretty amazing so far...

Don't have Hatred for LG, love him, wasn't sure about him headlining, but have changed my mind. Gerry just isn't my thing, but also shouldn't be that high.
Courteeners, just don't get them, they're super overrated.
Don't think i'll be going this year, with glasto wireless and rolling loud europe instead this lineup just isn't cutting it for me personally, knew it wouldn't happen but really wanted travis, only artists on their currently that I would want to see are Migos, Denzel and Iann dior. Another thing that i spotted is the plus special guest under migos

in my defence, there haven't been many headliner trios since then. But I've not been excited to see each act since 2012.

Yes highly likely, but if you mean big American hip hop probs not, probably someone with around 3-10 million monthly listeners
Yeah I think so Max, that 1X stage will need serious bulking out, and you can expect up to 9 names on the Main and R1 stages each day, currently sat around 7 each, so some more big names will absolutely come.
Jack Webb - Music Club . I’m hoping for a name like ghostemane, $uicide boys, brockhampton or scarlxrd, seen scarlxrd twice before and have easily been two of my favourite gigs of all time brings crazy energy every time, thoughts on any of these playing.

decent acts but the days are all wrong, too many clashes. dont think RandL realise people can like more than one style of music. I hope the headliners of each stage dont clash like last year. Needs 1 or 2 other names to bump it up a notch as well

Possibly the worst festival lineup you'll see anywhere this year & certainly in R&L History. Disappointing to see someone with your credibility championing this lineup. For the first time in 10 years I'm not going - Migos & Gerry Cinnamon subheadlining? Gallows headlining a stage in 2020? It's all just so wrong.
Sam Ledgerwood love them or hate them (I’m the latter) Migos are one of the biggest names in contemporary hip-hop and absolutely deserve a sub-headline slot.
There’s no confirmation that Gerry is subheadlining, my guess is that another name will be added between the two at the top on Saturday.
And Gallows have such amazing history with R&L, they’re not gonna play any other stage as a headliner, and you don’t know what they may or may not be cooking up over the next 6-months.
I’m championing it’s, because it’s beautiful and speaks for itself.

Been reading couple of times but this most shit line up I've seen in years they obviously spent to much on RATM you clearly tell it's basically a grime/hip hop festival this year apart from RATM disappointed
