Enjoying watching these episodes as since being paralysed I don’t remember them and got the corrie quiz cards which my carers ask me wuestions from so hopefully I will be able to answer them more
@@danrobinson572 That actress is a UK treasure Prunella Scales. Her character name is Eileen Hughes. No, that's a Northern accent. The fictional place of Corrie , Weatherfield, is set in Greater Manchester. Mainly based on Salford.
@@carolineg1872 ahhhh, I was looking at that face & it was nagging me, thinking maybe a singer later. It's a shame she's got dementia poor lass now. I rmbr her, ahhh that's it, The Marriage Lines comedy with Richard Briers.
How lovely to see a young Prunella Scales. I’m enjoying watching these so much, I could watch all of them right from the beginning through the 60s & 70s. I don’t like the new ones so I’m not a viewer now.
,The celler isn't through the gents toilets in this episode. Annie sends Jack towards the living quarters. And no13 looks way different to when the Ogden's bought it later.
Has anyone else noticed Ena, Minnie and Martha are not in their allotted seats in the snug as they were just a bit further on in episodes, Minnie is sitting in the seat that became Ena's, in some other episodes Martha is sat in the seat that was always Minnie's. I guess the idea of allotted seats hasn't been thought of here and other early episodes.
14 episodes in & this is a hard hitting drama, it's not in 'soap-land' yet, more Poor Cow but writer Tony Warren isn't for it being a easy road but when he left & the 70s came, Corrie was a reassuring place for the people of Britain. Ena Sharples at this early stage is a nasty piece of work, that would change tho she was always a thorn. PS a certain 'Len Fairclough to be' is here, it seems, just a 'extra' playing darts..
Sarah 4.23 The man who turned up and started laying down the law to her and Joe. Who said he thought he'd better go and see Christine and give 'er a few quid, get it over with.
My grandfather was a farmer and he wore a shirt and tie every day even when he was working. He had one for work and another one for occasions and sunday

Hope you enjoy the episodes, Brenda. Best of luck to you.❤️💐

He's not gonna choose mutton when he can get spring lamb. Lol, Oh Ena.
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here 💓
Ena was vicious cow. Mind you, they softened her character up towards the end.

Caroline G ok 👍

Lovely to hear the traffic hum outside.
Betty Alberge later played Edna Cross in Brookside from 1983 - 1985..
And can you believe she was only 38 here I thought she was about 60 lol
Mark Thompson maybe because it was shown in black and white 😉
Charming Annie Walker. Like to see her cope with a shrapnel wound.
,The celler isn't through the gents toilets in this episode.
Annie sends Jack towards the living quarters.
And no13 looks way different to when the Ogden's bought it later.
That was the front room which wasn't used and rarely seen when the Ogdens lived there. But the houses looked bigger inside definitely.
Who would ever have thought that Harry Hewitt would have an original Lowry hanging on his wall!
£10 pounds in Jan 1961 would be around £298.00 in todays money re:inflation.

Such a big mistake killing off Martha for the bloody Ogdens

Jack Duckworth was the same
10/10❤
So Christine's uncle's having an affair ( which is probably the real reason he wasn't at May's funeral). 😡😡😡
Alexander Jones who’s her uncle?
Sarah 4.23 The man who turned up and started laying down the law to her and Joe. Who said he thought he'd better go and see Christine and give 'er a few quid, get it over with.
Alexander Jones who is he married to though?
Sarah I don't think we ever saw her, but he was talking about his wife. The only three of that family I think we ever saw were him, Christine and May.

every body loves Harry Hewitt....
BASIL!
7:01 Eeh by gum, that's a short staircase at number 13. Only 7steps.
Might not be wondering but the staircase has a turn in it 7 steps in the first part and the rest on the second part
what a sweetheart
At least he scored at number 13!
8:27 why does christine go towards the front door to get the coal?
Len Fairclough in a suit!..
Couldn't bear Fairclough a horrible character and person
He was a lout
Evil Ena 😮
Just started watching Corrie but already I can't stand her! She's the quintessential mean old hypocrite!
10:08: is that a Lowry?
Looks like a print of one.
Poor Florrie.
The women all fancy Harry Hewitt - thats the type women went for back then - you can still see them now - old ,married, miserable as sin
Mr Plumber seemed nice & stumbling, but hey, that was a nasty leer at end, hey by gum watch that space...
Why does Len wear a suit and tie? He's a builder!
That's what men wore when they went out in those days. My Dad was the same. Even to the pub.
My grandfather was a farmer and he wore a shirt and tie every day even when he was working. He had one for work and another one for occasions and sunday
Because it was sixty years ago, and Hi Viz had thankfully not been invented. Life was different then - or hadn’t you worked that out?
Helen Gazzara Yes-but a smart suit? For building work?
@@alexanderjones9572 ffs Len's off duty. Not hard to deduce.

I don’t like Uncle Edwin!
