For me it’s Sally & Mavis. Sally’s voice & pronunciation is grating and Mavis gets on my nerves and all her stories are so boring.
Haha me too. I just posted about Jenny ...I can't stand anything about that character. From the patrice.ridiculousness to her father trying to kill Rita and now this stupid storyline. I'm not sure if it's the character the actor or what lol
When it comes to Jenny.....I think a bit of jealousy here from women, she is a beautiful girl.

Could not agree with you more. His expressions crack me up too. Reminds me of a demented version of Dennis Taylor, snooker enthusiast.
His Street Talk cassette, released in 1995 to coincide with the 35th anniversary is very entertaining too.

The fox storyline was great.. especially when Mavis hit Jack’s mate on the head with the saucepan 🤣🤣🤣 x

Yeah i spotted that in the supermarket she was outgoing and pushy then later she becomes almost shy.

Look at her in her first year, flirting with Terry Duckworth infront of her boyfriend Kevin to the point where she looked almost `Tarty`. Five years on she's become a meek and feeble housewife, the dutiful wife to the ultimate chauvinist Kev "where's me dinner" Webster !
Poor Percy, Mavis just called him a " walking megaphone in a flat hat ! " 😂
Kevin...what a gob and a half..no wonder Rosie is always screaming.
In my opinion I think the best couple in this soap is jack and Vera!
When i think back when Corrie was funny Jack and Vera come to my mind too.
It's even more funny when you watch it fast forward its hilarious ! 😅
Yes along with my absolute favourite Hilda and Stan, Bet and Alec also a great double act and Mavis and Derek were so well suited
Alma was so attractive and she really loved Mike, he should of been honoured to be with her not treat her the way he did.

I can't decide which is worse, the Websters screeching at each other, or the Websters snogging each other. Probably equally ghastly.
When Brian Park came in as producer in 1997, he asked who was the happiest couple in the street? They answered Kevin and Sally. Really? Going by these episodes they seem to be miserable, angry and always at each other's throats.
That poor baby, all that yelling and Sally isn’t very gentle with her, I don’t think she’s a natural mother.

Mike Baldwin needed his head testing ditching the lovely and vulnerable Alma for the bland but rich Jackie Ingram. It's pretty obvious he was only with her for money and status. And enter the absolutely delightful Raquel. Her character was more abrasive at this stage, but gradually she flowered into the beautiful and gentle soul she became.
Can’t stand Kev and Sal. Urghh. But love watching the old Corrie. Reminds me of my youth. It used to be humorous back in the day. Fab characters.
3:10:20 fabulous little scene with Emily and Percy! Emily reminiscing about Ena Sharples etc. What a brilliant actress Eileen Derbyshire is!
Seems baby David was perfect as a baby, it was all downhill from there lol

Hero of the Month Award goes to Robert Weston, dentist, for ridding us of Jenny Bradley, for a couple of years anyway. Well done, that man!
She's almost as unlikeable as her father. Not a nice character at all. I skip the scenes with her (and Ken Barlow) in.

Back in 1989, when Rita was attacked by Alan Bradley, it occurred on Jenny's 18th birthday - 13th March. Jump two years to 1991, and Jenny's 20th birthday is on 15th February.

I use to not mind Alf at all but the writers have turned him into a right penny pinching misery guts. He is never happy and all he does is moan and he can actually be very spiteful and horrible.
That wife of his ain’t much better.
Well in fairness, he probably wouldn't have gone into cornershoppery if it wasn't for Renee and her dying. He would be still in the Post Office.
And yes, as a landlord, he is truly a Rachman.
Audrey would push anyone to the edge with her spend thrift behaviour and disregard for his hard work or feelings.

This stupid storyline with Curly and Kimberly is just silly. He's playing hide-n-seek with her up and down the supermarket aisles and she's being her usual "i don't want to talk about it" Guess it was some writers attempt at humor but it's going on too long. Thank goodness I can fast forward their nonsense. Have to say though, Mavis hitting that guy on the head with her saucepan and the sound it made left me in stitches. Then Curly's comment "I'm a witness Mavis, I saw him head butt your saucepan" ....Lost it ! Now, that was funny.🤣🤣🤣
That married man - Robert Weston who Jenny Bradley is seeing is the same actor (Philip Bretherton) who many years later Sally Webster is with and he is called Ian Davenport,and has a car showroom,..plus he is married to someone else also while seeing Sally

Philip Bretherton is best known as the regular character Alistair in the Judi Dench/Geoffrey Palmer comedy, "As Time Goes By" He was a really funny character in this. 😂

Curly's behaviour at this point is borderline frightening. I never liked the Curly/Kimberly storyline but my goodness, they turned him into a male bunny boiler. I don't blame Kimberly for wanting to get away. From past form I get the impression that Curly handles rejection very very badly.
Basically impossible to watch at the moment.
Going forward he never copes with rejection
Kimberly/ Curly are 2 peas in a pod just look to their parents ( its a wonder their not suicidal)
You are right but in his defense both times he was in a serious long term relationship and the women just flipped a switch and turned off the relationship and their feelings over night with almost no explanation.
I couldn’t take that either. After that long (12 months of living together with Shirley and being engaged to Kimberly) a person deserves a why. Something more than just up and walking away and refusing to talk or just screeching and running away.
I don’t understand flipping a switch like that.
They have curly silly in these....trying to emulate Reggie....

Can't help but feel the writing had changed direction by the 90s much of the light n shade of characters had gone Curly who once had wisdom and insight and fell for the witty complex Shirley is now obsessed with the colourless Kimberley Reg mugs through every scene the Websters shriek their lines and Mavis has become incredibly annoying
It only gets worse - I’m currently bingeing ‘96, it really seems to be lacking in imagination at this point.

I love the phrase "colourless Kimberley", which pretty much sums her up. I liked Shirley too. I forgot what happened there?
I see since the end of last month Curly Watts has been attending the Dev Alahan school of slapstick hamming-it-up acting courses.
He was probably pissed (as he was most of his time on the set of Corrie)

" Betta Buys" was really a branch of "Morrisons" somewhere in Manchester, I know this because we had almost the same store in Girlington Bradford, brings back memories of shopping there seeing this.
But does everyone know the store coronation street used and is it still there or it been replaced with a new store like the one in Girlington has?

Hilarious scene of them all drunk chasing Derek Wilton/fox ruined by contrary Kevin shouting his head off again. It must have been such a tiring character for Michael LeVell to play back in those days. Pity they didn't whack Kevin over the head with something.

This was not the first time Raquel came onto Corrie. She came 1 time before that as someone looking to rent a room.
Yep, but she wasn't Raquel then, her character was called Wendy.. trying to rent a room with the Duckworths in 1987, which Vera soon put a stop to! 😉

I think they made a slight mistake casting Vera's mother. She was very annoying but to feel Vera cared for her at all they should have made her more loving and the father a dud.
I've worked out why 'our Rer-zeh' cries all the time, it's Sally's blood curdlingly awful voice. I'd be crying too.
Kevin's just as bad, too.

Jenny’s explanation for dating a married man made my skin crawl.
I’m also getting quite sick of young women acting like marriage and motherhood is a fate worse than death. They are really pushing it hard and consistently. Almost as though they are trying to brainwash the viewers.

This month had quite a few laughs in it, Bet, Rita, Alec, Vera and Jack the high points. The fox story impresses even more upon how Derek and Mavis are two little children living in their own world. It ends with Mavis saying that the fox won't be seen again because they have sorted it out and we are left to believe this, amazing. Did the writers forget that millions had been watching the D&M Saga for well over a decade and try to convince/con them into believing they could take such affirmative action? And what was that crazy eye thing Curly was doing? It was quite, embarrassing.

Is Corrie Street doing a parody of itself? All the characters are over the top all of the time -- there seems to be more shouting and mugging going on in these episodes than have gone on in all the previous years of the street. This can't do anything but get better, because it can't get any worse.

She reminds me of a friend who as a child was also of the same character of Mave( & grew even more sour & jelous)
As a child, if she thought someone had a better, nicer doll than her, she'd either rip the head of said doll, right off or scrawl with Biro pen all over the face of the doll!
She'd do this very covertly but i always caught her & gave her a piece of my mind to which she'd be
Sorrowful & regretful & said she couldnt help herself when she got jelous.
But it was something within her as she was an only child & her parents spoiled her.
My friend had some very good points & was very loyal to me
We were something like Rita & Mavis, loads of times we rowed & argued but we'd been friends for so long that we had become tolerant of each others faults & i had plenty of my own but i could never condone her jelous & sour nature & i guess she had issues with my quick impulsive temper
We rubbed along, but i just hated how she would play nasty tricks on those who drew out the green eyed monster in her
I can never understand those who become sullen & jelous because of someone elses good fortune!
At least my friend hasnt the uppity & status craving disposition of Mavis with her twittering simpering stupidity
She irks me beyond reason( mavis i mean)
Shows what a great actress Thelma Barlow as Mavis is!
Its a great character & as i know there are people just like Mave the Rave! Lol
