  • @jeepthing98
    @jeepthing98 7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    The CX-9 is gorgeous & the only one here that's willing to add some actual style inside and out to your drive. Mazda really gets bypassed too often by consumers who don't even cross shop the brand. If i was looking for a vehicle in this segment, it's probably the only one of the top 4 I'd consider.

    • @jlcii
      @jlcii 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      jeepthing98 except the CX-9 isn't family friendly with that tiny third seat and non existent cargo space. it is more at home with empty nesters looking for a personal vehicle. though I am sorry, that four-cylinder has to go. I don't trust its reliability.

    • @clubpenguinandanimaljam1813
      @clubpenguinandanimaljam1813 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jo Co 3rd row yes is a bit tight but so as the other models here even the famous highlander...if that is really a must then minivan is way to go. Also, have you test driven the CX9? Coz if you had you wouldn't really notice the huge diff bet a V6 other than the sound...not ideal for towing but has better fuel economy and 310 lbs ft of torque so diesel like power...reliability may not be as high as toyota but I would say close. In fact it is still made in Japan not like Toyota that's a japanese brand but actually made in the US. I just don't get a lot of people complaining that a large SUV has to have a V6...Volvo XC90 took same route (4cyl turbo) and won car/suv of the year when it was launched. This CX9 won car of the year in Australia back to back ('16 and '17) and finished 2nd by a mere point diff vs the pacifica that won Motortrend's SUV of the year. This is obviously not for everyone so likely not for you but no need to complain about their direction...just look elsewhere!

    • @jlcii
      @jlcii 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      club penguin and animal jam okay, nobody is complaining about anything, this is my opinion, which I am entitled to. If you don't like it or disagree with it, that is your choice, but that's all you can do. Secondly, it may have good performance, but my main concern is how it will do after 2 to 5 years of ownership in reliability. Since a lot of these turbo engines have had a tendency of being way more expensive to maintain, and just downright astronomical to repair if something doesn't hold up. Not to mention, do you know a whole lot about turbocharger maintenance? Because most people out there don't. And in regards to getting a minivan because of a tight third row, I'd much rather just get a body-on-frame full-size SUV which usually has more room, and more capabilities than either a crossover or a minivan. and I'm not the only one that thinks this way, it's actually quite common. So to each their own, and happy driving with whatever you choose. What I choose is my choice 💯.

    • @clubpenguinandanimaljam1813
      @clubpenguinandanimaljam1813 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jo Co you're absolutely right your opinion so you are entitled to it and no one is taking that away from you...just questioning some of the points you made as some people make biased statements without substantiating or backing it up just merely making generalized claims without actually even owning one or at least experiencing driving the vehicle (which I hope you did). With regard to reliability, well no one can actually prove that as it's a brand new model so only actual owners after you said 2-5yrs down the road and sure it is a valid concern but if everyone shares the same concern as you then no one would really be buying the vehicle right? Buyers usually decide based on their needs and most rely on the brands' reliability and reputation. Regarding turbo engine maintenance, I do have experience with it as I drove a turbo charged engine for 7yrs and from actual experience it wasn't costly in fact turbo charged engines these days meaning newer ones and not those manufactured in the 70s-80s, are much more reliable and that's a fact based on reliability records from sites like true delta, jd power, etc. Part of it also depends on the owners' use and maintenance of turbo engines...you may have the engine with latest technology but don't follow manufacturer's proper maintenance thus can damage engine. Enjoy whatever it is you're driving!

    • @Josh-179
      @Josh-179 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jo Co, the CX-9's cargo space is often understated. Take the Sorento which Motorweek put ahead of it after complaining about the CX-9's lack of space and commented on the Sorento's spaciousness. Proble for Motorweek is that the CX-9 has a roomier 2nd and 3rd row and more room behind the 3rd row. The CX-9 has more room in the 3rd row than the Highlander and more space behind it's 3rd row too. Also, in the common situation of cargo space with 3rd row folded, the Mazda's 38 cu ft is comparable to several and falls short of only the big box CUV's.
      Perfectly suitable for a typical family of 4.

    Love my 2018 Durango! I literally drove Pathfinders, Explorers, Acadias, CX-9s and a Santa fe! Driving dynamics only the CX-9 was better than the Durango! I wasnt impressed at all with the Pathfinder. The explorer did everything well to me but didnt stand out in any way. The Acadia was probably my least favorite. Santa Fe still felt to me it was trying to hard to be something it's not. Everybody has different opinions though I just liked the Durango best for me!

It's not efficient, not a sports car and terrible for snow or rain. If anything you want a 4wd or awd suv. Plus the Chrysler automotive group is the scum of the 3 major us automakers. They cant make a reliable car to save their life. All they want is demon hp at the sacrifice of reliability. Dont get me wrong, Ford and GM both have some growing up to do as well. Ford has to completely redo its lineup cause it is doing so bad and GM still has an interior from the 2000's. If you argue they have a good interior that's not true for the high volume movers. Most of them are antiquated and you have to pay a high premium to get any kind of upscale. Did I mention all of them have terrible resale value...

    • @jlcii
      @jlcii 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Scott because a lot of these automakers don't think about long-term reliability anymore. They are only thinking about fuel economy , and the statistics that state that the average consumer trades in their car by the time the warranty expires. So for those of us that would like to keep the car long-term, they look at that now as "asking for problems". Which is why I'd rather buy used, they're actually more reliable...

    when you are buying one of these really expensive toys and you are going to be paying top dollars for years you need to fall in love with them and say "uao that is one hell of a car" and you certainly could appreciate turning a few heads down the street , not "ohh i could carry here 22 potato sacs in these mini-van in disguise ", from all those CX9 is the biggest bang for your bucks with the Acadia a close second, a poor-man volvo but a lot prettier.

    All these others are not worth their sticker price. Styling is pointless cause guess what after 10 years it will be worth 25% what it started at. Buy honda, toyota or subarus and you will be extremely satisfied with quality and longevity. If you are buying a 3-row suv I hope you are looking at longevity over styling.

      These "expert" reviews to me are just their own personal 2 cents worth, in my opinion. So, here are my 2 cents worth: 1st place= Ford Explorer, 2nd place= GMC Acadia, 3rd place= Highlander, 4th= Dodge Durango, 5th=CX-9, 6th= Pilot and last place= Sorento/Santa Fe. I take the so called "expert review" as a personal opinion and nothing more. It never influences my choice but what does is the opinions of the many COMBINED.

    I'm always amazed how a family a 4 thinks that a 3-row middle size SUV is essential. To be quite honest, your kids don't need to be messing around going from the 3rd row to the 2nd, and to pay $45000 for something like these seems a little nuts and just a way to go into debt and stay there.
