Absolutely fantastic review! Spent the last month and a bit learning the basics of camera settings both on DSLR and smartphone. I was looking to buy this and you have cemented my opinion on it. Thank you!
Thanks Joseph! If you watch my 2021 Moment app review you can see more footage I shot with it. It's the part with the guy walking over the wooden bridge.
For some reason, TH-cams algorithm decided to start putting smartphone filming vids in my feed. I am now in the rabbit hole. Just ordered one of these to use with an iPhone 6S. Getting better results every time I film. A variable ND filter is a definite must-own piece of gear.
Better than most of the youtubers.. Calm and relaxed.. No fake stuff etc. Thanks for the video. I have a question.. Do you recommend it for the price? Are there any other 37 mm filters with holders which you can suggest?
Hi there. An old video I know...still relevant. I want to try a clip on ND filter for my 15pro max. I don't want to buy a new case or invest in expensive filters. This is only 37mm so it means it will not cover ALL 3 lenses on the iphone at the same time but I guess you just relocated to cover the lens in operation? are there any similar (and also budget friendly) items like this? Neewer only has a 37mm... I already have tons of variable NDs from 52mm, 55mm, 67mm etc..I do worry about the clip on puting to much pressure on the screen of my shinny 15pro max...Thanks
@@Jays_Highway Happy to help! I use it in this more recent video too and it sounds much better because I'm using an actual recorder from EVISTR whereas here I was recording into my 1st gen iPhone SE th-cam.com/video/3LcboNOS7yM/w-d-xo.html
@@David_Addison Awesome! So what your saying is - it's better to record audio into an independant device like the EVISTR than straight into your smartphone?
Bro tengo una duda porque mi celular tiene 3 camaras y es en forma rectangular , me puedes decir si el filtro debe ser grande para tapar las 3 camaras o solo necesita tapar 1 la principal?
Well put together summary David- however this clip is only for phones with one lens. what do you recommend for the iPhone 11 to 13 that has 3 lenses in a square box config ?
Hi buddy. Great stuff. I am trying to use it on my Samsung S20+. Let's assume I want to take a long exposure. What are the technical aspects? Is this the flow? 1. Set camera up. 2. Frame scene. 3. Set ISO as low as possible. 4. Get focus sorted etc. 5. Add filter and adjust ND until exposure is correct? What about really long exposure photography where you cannot see the image after adding the filter? Then adjusting shutter is not going to show you anything. There must be another way.
Yes, they are available but I don't have one (at least not yet). I just use the one you see in this review and position it over the wide lens for the time being. Not ideal though.
I just got the newer Neewer model of this one that comes with a CPL and color filters. About $40. Got it at night of course so I haven’t got to fully try it yet.
David you have a great videos and it is very interesting to watch you. I just ordered this filter. Please tel me = does it fits my iPhone 11? I have two cameras. Not one. Will it scratch my second lenses if I fit it in iPhone 11? And please tell me - is it possible to fit nd filter on Ulanzi 65mm? Or I should by apexel tele or moment? Thanks a lot for your information and support! God bless you.
What settings did you use. Because i use it with filmic pro. But as soon as i put it in manual mode to apply the 180 degree shutter rule i get a grainy image. Is it because my phone natively does not have pro mode?
@@David_Addison yeah its my phone. When i touch the iso wheel it does nothing. The numbers move up and down but it does not get darker or brighter. I have a midrange phone. Galaxy a50. Think thats the problem because i have the same issue with the moment app
I thought your lens of choice was the ulanzi 65mm ? But nonetheless, now we know the apexel Tele lens can take 37mm filters.😁, great review x unboxing 👌🏾
Quite new to photography. Use this with my S21 ultra. I noticed your iso was 24. However, the lowest I can go on pro settings is 50 so when I try for long exposure it's over exposed even a 1 second. Could you advise anything please.
I take construction progression photos of houses being built for a realtor friend of mine. I don't have a lot of choice when (time of day) I can take the photos. Nor do I have control over the angle from the sun. If the house front faces east, and I have to be there in the afternoon, I have the sun behind the house messing with my photo. Will one of these filters help in this scenario, or should I be looking for a different solution? I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Thanks for the info. I will probably still consider getting one of these filters for other photos, but for now, looks like I get to go learn a new skill set, editing photos. Thank goodness for TH-cam. 😀
Hi, lovely video.. It seems the 37mm neewer nd filter is worth the price..I am also searching for a variable ND filter for my mobile..May I know if it will work with the iPhone 11 pro??

What are the benefits of a 17mm to 52mm adapter over using a 37mm? My current setup is with a 52mm adapter but I'm considering swapping to 37mm because the Ulanzi telephoto doesn't have a thread.

I'm not too crazy on the clip putting constant pressure on the screen. How tight is it?
This is the free that I use when making my shirt films. I also use it in conjunction with the Moment Cinebloom filter
which lenses do you use behind the ND and the cinebloom? I'm curious if I use an ND and the Cinebloom on my telephoto lens that I'll get poor results.
