A cyberpunk game in the style of blood born where your weapons are Spray Can, Katana, and Break Dancing, where the main antagonist is corporate artificial art and police brutality
A little nit-pick I have about this game is that I wished they added a feature where if you stay idle dancing long enough in a Cypher where the other Characters take turns dancing, Your selected character would also join in on the dancing. I hope someone makes this into a mod
It's really funny realizing from this video that I basically just brute-forced every boss in BRC by exploiting the level around them or just building up enough boost to rush in. The game just lets you *style* on them.
this vid was awesome man loved to hear your thoughts on the JS games and love more talk on BRC, For whatever reason your vid feels like the old internet and I love that. Keppe up the amazing work man!!
I mean in terms of story u correct. But if you were to take the mechanics of BRC and make a remake of future and be able to finish future the way it was intended to be made... that would blow everyone away.
The sewer oooohhh man I never had soo much being frustrated I played jsrf at the ripe old age of 25 and it took back to being frustrated as a kid. And I’m 29 now I already have nostalgia
Jest set Radio was revolutionary for that time in gaming!! If we never had that installment during the earlier years of the millennium then we would not have Bomb Rush Cyberfunk! JSR has aged (being 24 years old) but it still holds up for the OG’s who cherish that era of nostalgia. I play it on my vita occasionally throughout the years, so it still has my attention to this very day. Jet Set Radio Future was next level, but I was kinda disappointed with the graffiti control system, but none the less it was pretty kick-ass! Bomb Rush Cyberpunk definitely came out of nowhere with a level of excitement and nostalgia..Pumped-full of steroids, taking this style of gaming to a whole new level of success in ways we wanted! I think I may just shuffle through all of these games going into this coming weekend. Great review btw!
One thing I have against BRC is that you can't move backwards on wheels like you can in JSR and JSRF, but this isn't an actual problem, I just liked this detail is Jet Set Radio
great video! btw about your statement at how sus the timing of jsr 3 is it prob isn't bcuz this project was in development for a long time and sega is doing his whole thing of resurrecting classic Ips like shinobi and crazy taxi also the game was leaked alongside persona 3 reload
Here's a fun fact about og JSR: You can skate backwards by 1. Dashing 2. Pulling back on the stick mid dash 3. Move the stick forward after pulling it back. If you jump while moving the stick back forward will have you perform a 180 or a halfpipe trick and landing on a rail after doing a 180 will give the points you collect a 2× Multiplier. I hate JSR only tells you this if you do the optional Tutorial(the one in the main menu). But I also wish Jet Tech was a mission type too, getting a certain amount of points before time runs out.
Cant speak to future since i havent played it (put it on steam sega pls) but i can say that BRCF has a more engrossing narrative than the original JSR, and i found the combo system in BRCF to be fun in its own way, though i also enjoy the rythym-game-like graffiti score gameplay of JSR. Either way, im just happy another game in this style exists, im happy people were excited about it and bought it, and im happy i have another dope playlist on spotify to put on that reminds me of another dope game
My man, great breakdown. Just need to ask, you do know about slide tech in BRC right. Like great video. But I kept waiting for that revelation of why it puts you back on foot on stairs. Since sliding can be done even while moving up a staircase.
I honestly found watching your video more interesting than playing Bombrush. It's a good game, but I can't shake the feeling that I've done all of it before, elsewhere. It's like there isn't a single piece of the game that truly makes it stand out to me. Influence, sleeve, etc. I'm tempted to make a video about this, since I've seen people calling Bombrush a masterpiece and better than the inspiration. And yet there was a spiritual sequel already that did some stuff that I have never seen in a video game period. Alas, it's cursed to rot away in obscurity.
Great simple fun. A little too short for the price tag if we’re being real but I enjoyed my short time with it. Though I feel the same about Future I just thought there would be more meat on the bones for a game released in 2023. However, better than the originals? Ehhh it doesn’t have an identity of its own to stand on. Comparing what’s essentially a fanfic sequel to an original concept isn’t fair to either game. And besides BRC had nothing but time and opportunity to improve the gameplay from a title that’s over 20 yrs old now. Hell it really just feels like JSRF meets THPS if you wanna get real reductive about it,
Better than JSR easily but not even slightly closed to JSRF as bomb rush cyberfunk is purely a rip off with little bit of added stuff over but every level is carbon copy of every town design in JSRF to a point it's a miracle Sega didn't sue them 😂
i feel like Sega was forced to make up some new scripted jsr footage since they now have competition with brc being a amazing game and team reptile continuing to make these sorts of games
You say Super Brothers was a good song, but you only played a clip of the part that actually sounds like music. The rest of the song consists of two people half-singing, half-shouting the same two words over and over again in a manner that leads me to believe they _can_ sing on key, but are deliberately choosing _not_ to for some pretentious "artistic freedom" reason. The result is one of the most grating, repetitive, painfully dissonant, off-putting pieces of music I've ever heard in a video game or anywhere else. It borders on a Meredith Monk: Turtle Dreams level of "What The Fuck?", and while there's certainly a place for that type of content, for me it always stuck out like the world's sorest thumb whenever I was playing JSR. The sad part is that while I remember loving the music and overall vibe in general, the only song I can _really_ remember 20 years later is fucking Super Brothers. It was so uniquely annoying that my brain latched onto hating Super Brothers more than it did to loving the rest of the soundtrack. My brother hated it so much that it put him off of playing JSR entirely. Anyways, sorry for ranting. I was under the impression that everyone hated this track as much as I did, but I'm glad there are folks who enjoyed it. Clearly I wasn't Guitar Vader's target audience.
You know, it's funny. I had a similar relationship with the song. When I first started playing JSR I couldn't stand it. It's definitely got some dissonant and noisy parts, and the back and forth "SUPER BRAZZARS" was kind of annoying. But it grew on me and now I love it, especially that verse I clipped. Probably just earwigged after playing the game so much. I'm curious if you liked Magical Girl though. I thought that one was killer from the start. Felt like I had to mention Guitar Vader in the non-Sega soundtrack since they have two tracks in JSR and JSRF.
@MAHIM2000 Nah, they're all good games with their own strengths and weaknesses. Think the original gets more flack than it should. Cause it's really easy as far as the HD version. Minus the tutorial of course 😂
You said "Graffiti Souls" in this review and that got me thinking about what would From Software do to this franchise
I would play the hell out of Graffiti Souls, or cry and put it down pretty quickly

Having just played both for the first time... I think I prefer JTR's style for sure, but the gameplay aged like milk
Great video! Here's hoping JSR3 continues that upward trend in quality!

Better than the original jsr but not even close to jsrf

Because if they were to attempt to stake upstairs, They would fall flat on their face and loose all their rep.
The mechanics are tighter but the world building does lack compared to JSRF.
