Geoff Castellucci’s voice is unique & superbly perfect. In this performance, his background musical arrangement almost matches Geoff’s vocals. There are so many instances where Geoff’s long-held notes blend into the instrumentation seamlessly. For me, this Geoff version is simply a masterpiece
This one is EPIC! Geoff is a master arranger. Carol of the Bells like you've never heard it before. One of my reactors (Ms. Realistic) reacted a couple of nights ago. Carol of the Bells is her favorite carol, but she wasn't expecting this - tears down her face. Today she brought in her teenage daughter (Mini Realistic) since Carol of the Bells is her favorite. As the song progressed, tears with both of them. I think I've only heard one reactor who wasn't impressed with this one. Enjoyed your reaction and hearing this again.
"I'm going to stop and do an analysis", lol, nope, gonna have my mind blown and fanboy out. You have my sub. You know music dynamics well enough to be impressed by the real work that Geoff does. No overreaction for the camera, just appreciation. Thanks for the video. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
@@grieverproductions2022 That often happens to me as well. But I know nothing about music so my mind is only blown on a fairly superficial level. It must be even more mind blowing to someone who understands what he’s doing to get these incredible results.
He fused his voice with whatever brass that is. Sounds like one of those massive, deep toned bells! That part seems disable every reactor Ive seen. Don't blame them, I couldn't and can't believe it either!
Thx to his boss (his wonderful wife Kathy) we can now listen to this absolute masterpiece. He wanted to do something else. I love this one and just can't get enough. This magic he does on every arrangement and his voice.... just out of this world ❤️🔥. He must be a wizard of music 🥰
EPIC!!! Wow! Cinematic arrangement. Did you notice the cover artwork? It shows what happens to bells after Geoff's super low notes. Amazing performance. Thanks for the reaction.
Thanks for this reaction to Geoff's epic Christmas release. I have run out of superlatives! A five octave vocal range is a powerful thing. I enjoy the way Geoff arranges music nearly as much as his vocals. Judging by his album art, the Geoffquakes did some damage!
The cover art for this song perfectly describes what this song is. It is NOT your fathers Carol of the Bells. The cover art shows three bells in ruin after a major -earth- GeoffQuake!
The camera shake on the low notes is "relevant" -- lol, well said. Yup, his notes and harmonies are insane. I really enjoyed your reaction, both visually and the intelligent remarks you added about Geoff's vocal technique and arrangement skills. Subbed for more Geoff and VoicePlay reactions. Happy holidays!
Geoff is a force of nature, he is wonderful! I know you are a great fan of Geoff and Voiceplay. Subscribed in anticipation of more reactions to their work!
Love your reaction. Geoff does roughly 50% of the VP arrangements, and Layne does the other half. In the mix is Eli, who does a few. (The recent one that comes to mind from Eli is Creep). In addition to the VP Christmas drop this year (Louie Armstrong's Zat you, Santa Claus?) VP just released a song sponsored by Warframe for their new release, 1999 - Party of Your Lifetime - both arranged by Layne, both amazing.
Easy way to tell which of the two did it... If Layne does a VP arrangement, Geoff is going to do more low notes, if Geoff does it, he adds more beatboxing... the two think the other is better than they think, and arrange it accordingly. Consider the Valhalla Calling as one of the best examples of Layne, and Hall of Mountain King as one of the best examples of Geoff.
@@leechowning2712 I agree that they both push the other. Layne arranged both "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and "Classical Chaos." I love Geoff's "Nothing Else Matters," among many others.
Haha great reaction! Normally I am not into analysis videos but you make it fun to watch xD And yes, he sure did a great job on this song! I saw it when it was on Patreon before release and it was so hard to not share it with people and waiting until it was released! Once it released I sent it to everyone at once xD Subscribed for more Geoff reactions and I will watch the Voiceplay ones too. (Only found you today lol)
I’m so glad your reaction showed up on my feed. This is truly a work of art. Although this is not a cappella, since he reserves his a cappella work VoicePlay , he does do all of the instrumentation as well. He works it out on his keyboard and then searches high and low for all the different plug-ins that are required. Occasionally he will improvise as he did in his cover of I See Fire when he shoved a shovel into a pile of sand and mud to get the perfect snare. I don’t have any idea how long it took him to record the vocals, but they did the video in very little time. In the behind-the-scenes they were leaving at 9 o’clock with a 1 hour drive ahead of them. They were done by 3 o’clock and that included them putting 1000 little pieces of painters tape on the floor to tell them where to move each of the cameras. Camera angles have to be adjusted so that each of the clones get their own time to shine. They did this the day before Thanksgiving. Then he spent three days editing like a crazy man so that he could get it out to us early in the month. I don’t understand how the music editing software works, but it’s a very very full screen of lots of little blocks and squiggles and looks extremely complicated. I am subscribing and going to see if you’ve done others of his of VoicePlay’s prior to this. I’d love to hear what you think of their cover of Stand by Me. Their guest artist was one of their original members of the group back when they were in high school. Mykal (Michael) took off for New York and Broadway shortly after graduation where he has had quite a successful career including at least one Grammy. His voice is positively angelic. It looks like a mini or a short because it’s filmed in a vertical format but it is one of their full versions. Mykal only had a short time in between other projects so they decided to do it in the mall like they do their shorts so he could get that experience as well. He got to experience the full theatrical performance when he participated in the release prior to that: Be P DAMN repared from Disney’s Lion King. But please do Stand by Me first. It is just gorgeous and it’s been overlooked by far too many people.
I completely agree with every word of this. I will add that not only did Geoff want to do something else, but he really wasn't crazy about this song. It kind of left him no choice but to make it epic in every way.
> I don’t understand how the music editing software works, but it’s a very very full screen of lots of little blocks and squiggles and looks extremely complicated. LOL, this is my impression as well. "Guess the song!" ...uh, splitting the atom? Neanderthal genetic code???
Thank the Goddess that Kathy's the Boss and Geoff understands it!! Or we wouldn't have had this song (**shudders**) Great reaction!! (Thx for not playin a fool for the camera) For that I'm subbed for more VP and Geoff. Happy Holidays!
Agreed! 😀😀 After Christmas, I would LOVE for you to react to Dan Vasc singing "Wuthering Heights." He sang it as a secondary tribute to ANDRÉ MATOS, who had recently passed away. The two tribute songs he did, are: ANDRÉ MATOS Tribute | "Carry On" Cover - ANGRA (June 10, 2019) and ANGRA Cover - "Wuthering Heights" (June 28, 2019) It's kind of like going in the opposite direction from what Geoff does. Personally, I kind of like to go back and forth between their songs, quite often -- first one, then the other, and then back again. They both do such FANTASTIC vocals, and both know SO well, how to mix them for our listening pleasure.😀
This is so amazing. The arrangement is nudging up against my favorite Christmas arrangement - Do You Hear What I Hear by Adam Rupp for Home Free. If you haven't heard it, you should
The arrangement itself is a university course. And the entire production from vocals to editing is epic.

Geoff is a genius arranger , I just am in awe of his mind as well as his singing.
Couldnt agree more. The man really has the brain for it for sure
After this epicness and Geoff's God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, I only want bassy carols by Geoff!

@@grieverproductions2022The "Geoff Effect." It gets us all.
@janetdw it certainly can be. Sometimes it's a curse because all you want to do is break down each and every piece but just can't 😂😂

It's absolutely insane how he does that!!
I admire anyone that's THAT musical and I envy the folks that can give an informed opinion of it. Whew!
Well stay tuned there will be much more 😊😊
I'm still sitting here with my mouth wide open trying to understand what I just watched. How is that even possible?! Loved it, love your reaction. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it but yeah I honestly cannot get over what he did here. Such insane talent
