  • This video specifically focuses on my experience with DV8 rear bumper and tire carrier on my JLUR with 37" Maxxis trepador tires and Fuel Rims. I will discuss the pros and cons of this bumper and will give you my honest review . I ve been in contact with DV8 multiple times now and they do not stand behind their product. Their products are over priced sub par parts.
    Bumper model discussed in this video is dv8 jl rb-08

    I wish I had seen this video before I purchased the DV8 heat dispersion hood for my JK, right off the bat I could not center the hood hinges, there are indentions where the hinge sits so I centered off both hinges, which makes both hinges look like they're creeping a quarter inch towards the middle of the hood. The passenger side lined up perfectly flush with the fender but the driver side...quarter inch inward. So I pulled it out to be flush with the fender. The hole under the hood for the metal rod to hold up the hood is in a position where I have to lift the hood even higher so I can stick in the rod. After all that I like the look but I should've dished out the extra cash and got smittybuilt's version of this hood, their hood came with windshield wiper nozzles, splitter, and hoses. Loved the video👍🏼

    I was recently looking for bumpers for the 2021 Jeep Talk Show Gladiator, and did look at DV8. Something screamed "not well built" to me so I kept looking. I tried out Motobilt and have been pleasantly surprised. Looks good, built well, and heavy duty. I got the Crusher Stubby front bumper and the crusher rear bumper from Motobilt. I'm sure there are several companies out there that build good stuff, but this is my personal experience that I'm sharing.

      We was very disappointed with his bumper and will never own anything DV8 ever again. It's a miracle no one was hurt as the tire carrier end up breaking the welds, I could see the tire coming while driving on the highway and hurting someone behind us. We got rid of the DV8 tire carrier and went with rugged ridge upgraded hinge instead, it was a much better design and support the tire well. We upgraded our 37 to 40s and still no problem. We do want to get rid of the bumper as well and go with the Genright aluminum bumper instead. We already upgraded the front bumper, just need to upgrade the rear now.
      I am glad that you found something better! there is definitely a lot of good companies out there just need to do good research. Thank you for sharing :)

    I bought a front bumper for my Dodge Ram and the led lights mount flush with the side “wing” bumper so the lights don’t shine on road ahead of you. Customer service said no return since I mounted it. I told them there was no instructions and I took the bumper off as soon as I realized the lights were defective but they didn’t care. Now I need to find someone with a big boat that needs an anchor cuz that’s all it would be good for.

      I’ve been trying to get a refund or exchange for another bumper for over a month but they say it’s not defective. I told them that no bumper or lighting has ever been designed to not shine in front of you. They claim they are a family owned business - my family would never do business like this. They dont stand behind their product.

    I have 3 Dv8 items on my truck, as far as the license plate just takes drilling some holes. And the bumper issues was a install issue put the nut on as you put it on. And Dv8 says stock tire doesn’t fit . You have to use the anti vibration washers and it fixes that issue. If your a plug and play person you shouldn’t be off roading. This hobby is meant for people who can use some creativey and engineering. They probably didn’t need your power point . This review is ridiculous we are in a hobby that this stuff happens to the best equipment.

    I just got one for my 2021 JL. No directions with it. Found a video on how to. Not much of a problem for mechanical minds but they don't have a secure way to mount either side but only with two bolts. From the bottom there is a big gap I filled with washers and used stock bolts. Right side is different. I was going to get the DV8 tire mount but after what I've seen I will not. I also got the back up sensors mounts for this bumper and they do not fit or go together properly. Another $20 pissed away on this crap. They need to rethink and most likely get a new engineer that may know something about designing things and especially made of steel. Good-bye DV8.

    Yeah I bought taillights for my 2015 jk and not even 5 months later the running light on one quit working. I also bought the dv8 inner fenders with rock lights, whenever it gets wet outside they stay on, the module box is tucked away pretty good too. I bought the hood hinges from them and 1 of the bolts seized up as I was tightening it up. Had to drill the bolt and get new ones from work and luckily I was able to use them still.. And I work on mutil million dollar equipment for my job and I know how to work on/assemble shit like this with no problem. Never buying from them again.

    The reason your tire carrier is bending and so far from your tailgate is the tire/wheel is too damn heavy. Even you said it yourself.

    • @winchedout5651
      @winchedout5651  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, its a heavy tire, but DV8 claims their tire carrier can handle upto 40" tire and do not specify a weight limit. This was a 37 tire so well within their spec.

    i bought a roof rack for a tacoma, first drive with it the wind deflector shook up and down so hard it cracked the welds only doing 70 mph with no load on the rack. contacted them and they said they'd talk to the research and development team. now they are ignoring my emails so 500$ wasted on a rack, let alone they couldnt event tell me what size tee nuts you can use for the slots in the cross bars. these guys make cheap shit for a reason and they say the products are tested but a roof rack cant roll down the high for 20 min with out breaking seems like they tested it alright. SERIOUS NOTE JUST SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY on a company whos products are actually quality and a company that actually backs their customer service and warranty promises. this company dosent do shit other than take your money and tell you, youre SOL by ignoring you.

    • @winchedout5651
      @winchedout5651  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, I did have many discussions with them specifically about the license plate issue and they did take my advice and redesigned it, but, I could clearly tell they were just making pretty parts and did not do any kind of structural analysis, tolerance analysis, or even test fit the parts prior to releasing the product. I would not be surprised if there was no engineering that actually went into these parts.
