My parents loved fried apples and I would make them for them when I visited. My mom was bedridden the last year of her life with cancer. She didn’t have much of an appetite but she could usually manage a few spoonfuls of fried apples.
Comfort food is the best. I had Corn bread and beef chili tonight with sweet tea and coffee, the best.
OMG, I grew up on fried apples.
Steve Williams from Ky. That's the first time I've ever heard the term Larpin or Larapen on the internet. For those of you who don't know the meaning, it means its so good you you get every drop out of your plate.
Never heard it before, where and when did it originate Steve?
Enjoyed and yes I agree those apples are awesome.
50 years ago...fried apples was one of the recipes we made in home economics. I make it to this day....so good.!
Thanks Ms. Lori and Mr. Brown..
I love the old photos at the beginning of this video. People didn't typically pose for pictures while they were doing everyday chores, so they are rare. I have a photo of my Grandma Nora feeding her chickens with the feed in her apron. I treasure it! Love this recipe.....looks delicious....you are the one who got me started canning beans earlier this year. Thank you!
Using leftovers to make additional dishes, is wise, keeps down food waste. I can eat leftovers for several days.
I just love watching you work in your kitchen Mrs Lorie! And I really love that you all know the evening meal
Is SUPPER!! My husband always says you can prove it by scripture because you’ve never heard it called the Lord’s Dinner 🥰
Miss Lori, I just love you!! You are such a sweetheart and kind gal. You have encouraged me in so many ways, from everyday life to being more self-sufficient and trying to be a better person. Thank you! You and Mr. Brown are gonna have a very special beautiful place in heaven because of all the people you are helping. Your chicken chili and apples look delicious! God bless you and your family 💞💞
Thank you
If she were my grandma, I’d be so excited to go to her house all of the time. She is giving her grandchildren such a gift in how they live their lives ❤️❤️❤️
I need to make the white chicken chili. And we love fried apples. My hunny likes them in fried pies.
You Are The Very Best !!!😁😁😁There is no one out there better and You Bless the Universe every time You share ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, thank you
Its so nice to know there is people out there , like ya'll. 😊🙏👋🤗
You are a Precious Soul!
Thank you for being a Blessing, Sweet Lori!
Hugs! 😇
We love a whole roasted chicken at least once a month, then come the chicken enchiladas, Chinese chicken salad, or chopped curry chicken for sandwiches.
Fried apples remind me of my Granny, she made the Best fried apple pies! I’ve gotta try your white chicken chili.
Ms. Lori I actually got a new video with out searching for one to watch and I’ve never tried chicken chili can’t wait to try
The first thing I learned to make with my Grandmother, fried apples!! Still fix them today.
Yummy.yummy.god.bless.you❤😊good.cook😊
What could be better than fried apples? Sounds so good! We had apple trees when I was growing up. Mom fixed baked apples a lot in the fall. Johnathon apples were a fall apple in Ohio where I grew up. A good baking apple!
Looks so good. Ty for sharing❤
Thanks for all you do. Blessings.🙏🏼🌺🙏🏼
Lol, Love the cow plate! Great supper & desert!
White chicken chilli is new to me, but I love Chilli so come the weekend ....lol guess who's trying out your chilli Lori, thanks for sharing, sounds sooooo good. May even delight my friend with fried apples...these were a campfire favourite as a young girl growing up in the Australian bush.. yummy oh I'm putting on weight already ❣️❣️🇦🇺🦘🐨

You are so welcome!
@@WhippoorwillHollermaybe it's time for squirrel dumplings.
I agree 1,000%!!!❤️❤️❤️
Add a half tsp of oregano to your white chili. It really peps it up! White chili is my favorite. I would love to try yours. It looks so good!
Looks fantastic as usual! 😮😅 😅 yummy yummy!
I love white chicken chili. I add a block of cream cheese to mine to make it rich and creamy.
MS Lori! I call that a Hodge Podge dinner! Im still doing low carb 48 lbs lost but i just love seeing what your doing!
Mrs. Lori, I love your videos. You have the sweetest disposition, kind and soft spoken, not to mention all your wonderful recipes.
Kiss Lori I just love to watch you…I could not figure out how to comment. I worked for the school 45 years…I collect cookbooks….and I just relate to so many things with you! I live in Moore, Oklahoma
Glad you figured it out! God bless. 😊
When we made soup like that we called it "musgo" soup because to was everything that;must go; before it gets to old.
You're right, there ain't nothing better than fried apples! I've never had them over hot biscuits. The chili looks good. I love how you can whip up a meal from your freezer and pantry. That's the way it should be. Love you, and your channel. Mr Brown is a lucky guy.
You made this white chicken chili look easy to make. I’ll try this with my leftovers. And the apples are so nice on a cold night. I’ve always called them cooked apples and it really is comforting.
That is exactly how I make My fried apples. They are so good. You are making me want some right now. mmmm
Love your cozy kitchen and the gingham curtains.
Having leftover roasted chicken for dinner tonight too lol
A neighbor has green apples that they just let fall on the ground and said I can take what I want. I’m going to make fried apples and maybe Apple Strudel using a can of biscuits. Do you make apple strudel? Love your channel. 🥰💕❤️👍👍
I peel a few sweet potatoes and cook with the fried apples, I think it’s quite yummy. You make awesome looking food.
I recently found out that my youngest (35), loves the fried apples from Cracker Barrel. I told him I could make better…..apples will be ready next weekend. I will show him! Lol
at the end of our garden growing season there’s a LOT of goulash being made lol Waste not Want not… nothing needs be wasted!
Hi Ms. Lori! Love the video thanks for sharing. Where did you get those spice holder magnets❤
Probably Amazon.
Chili season is just around the corner and we can't wait. This looks so good. This lighter chili is just right for these first nights when fall is just around the corner. I do want to offer that to thicken our chilis we either blend a corn tortilla and warm water into a slurry and add that or we use a handful of corn chips slurried up the same way and that adds even more to the flavor.
Great idea!
Those are the best suppers! I could go for some soup beans and cornbread
I love it when leftovers become makeovers or planovers! You really do it well and teach others how to do it well too! Thank you! I'm always inspired by your videos...I just don't say it often enough!♥
That chili looks delicious. And the apples are calling my name! TFS
I'll bring my own spoon for them apples and ice cream.
Must be a large cooking spoon. 😂
LOVE your gingham plate!
I grew up on homemade bread with homemade apple butter,,,,oh soooo good!😂❤
My grandmother used to make Dump soup. Really it was vegetable soup. She just started dumping all the leftovers in a pot and made a pawn of cornbread. Oh how I miss my grandmothers dump soup and cornbread. Yum yum, delicious!
"Pone" of cornbread, pawn is to exchange at store for $$$
Miss Lori, you are just a delight, so enjoy your videos, makes me remember the old days with my granny, mom & Aunt . Wonderful home cooking. 😊
Now I am hungry. That all looks so good.
Everything looked so good Ms. Lori. I’m going to make those fried apples tomorrow. Have a good evening. 💞
One pot meals were the staple,in my house, growing up. My mom called them “slumgullion”.
I love fried apples. I remember you canned apples, however, I can't find that video. It is fall and I am ready to can some apples.

My family loves white chicken chili. I have never put rice in it but sometimes I add a block of cream cheese to it. It makes it so creamy and good. And what can be said about fried apples, it just doesn't get any better than that but I have never put them over biscuits. You learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and Mr. Brown.
Thanks for sharing! I love canning dried beans. They are great when you don't have time to soak and cook beans!
Yes they are!
I have so many bags of dried beans…I think I might try canning some in pint jars so I have them ready to heat up. My husband works and lives with his mom who has dementia in Ohio and I live and work in Pa where my kids and grandkids are. I cook small meals, usually just for myself, so I don’t need quart jars of beans!!😂😂I see my husband on weekends when I drive to Ohio.
Great recipes!
Sounds delicious
Fried apples 🍎 looked so darn good! Thank you for sharing 😊❤
Fried apples over biscuits with ice cream…….i never would have thought of that! I bet it tastes like apple pie…😉
I like your magnetized backsplash with the metal spice canisters--very handy!
Same, love those cannisters! They look like they hold just enough not to go off from heat exposure. Such a great idea.
I love your recipe Lori 😋 it looks really delicious 😋 God bless everyone😊
Fried apples & tomatoes dumplings were almost always on the table for meals. Good stuff
I make this too with what ever I have left over.I I call it a surprise delight.. thank you for sharing and God Bless you and Mr Brown.. Love y'all ❤️..
I make a beef soup that my long-term boyfriend said was the best soup he ever put in his mouth! No ground beef. I used thin sliced sirloin, quick sauted. A bag of frozen mixed veg, beef broth, some cut, bite sized potatoes OR sweet potatoes & a medium-sized jar of Pace salsa. And your beans of choice. I use canned pink or red beans. That eliminated chopping onions, garlic, peppers, and adding canned tomato. It was all in one jar. Not so economical as your chicken chili, but sooo good!
My Grandma, who was raised in Wisconsin, called a pot of "whatever was leftover" a Booyah.
Never thought to put the apples over biscuits but it sounds yummy!
I bet they’d be good over warm croissants too!!
Yum it all looks so delicious! Tonight I made some taco soup for dinner and put some rotini pasta in it. So good!
420K!! 🎉 Congrats ❤ we love you and Mr Brown xoxox
God bless and keep you and your lovely family 😊 Derek and Michella Payne
Thank you so much!!
Our frugal pantry dinner tonight started with rice in one pan, in another I put in a 12 oz can of beef from a four pack-made in the USA from Sam's club. Into that I added a rinsed can of black beans, a beef bullion and some thickener and seasoning. We had that over rice and my husband had hominy on the side. It will last the two of us for another meal.
I make “fried” apples Weight Watchers friendly by sautéing them in cooking spray in a hot skillet, adding a little stevia, cinnamon, and once they’re browned I’ll add a little water and cook them down. They’re delicious and zero points. Of course…they would be even more delicious cooked Miss Lori’s way…but it’s a trade off.
The white chili and the fried apples looks delicious & would be so easy to make!
I wish I was at your house having dinner. Your chili looks amazing and dessert, wow! Thank you for spending the time to make this video.
You are so welcome!
Your chili looks delicious but the star of the show for me is the fried apples, I love them! Great job! God bless you both.
Love your gadgets (magnet spice holders) so dang cute. And the fried apples are good.
My goodness!! All that looked so delicious!
Ms.Lori, the chicken chili looks delicious, also the fried apples! YUM! Did your spices come in the tins? I really like them, have not seen any of those before. Thank you for sharing a quick and delicious meal with us ❤
🌹 This is really good. You put extra things in yours. Great idea.
Good stuff! Blessings and stay well. 😇

Love what I call One Pot Wonders I had some leftover steak in the fridge and cut up in chunks added lots of vegetables that needed to be used to also had a half jar of pasta sauce I threw in as well with all kinds of seasonings turned out so good even my granddaughter liked it. I never thought about adding rice to white chicken chili great idea thanks.😊
Sounds great!
Ms. Lori! Are you sure you aren’t down here in Texas? That Herdez brand of salsa verde and your fried apples with Blue Bell can sure be found on a lot of tables. Excellent video. Thanks so much!
I love to use oregano and cumin in my white chicken chili. It's so delicious!
Yum! We never had white chili growing up but boy those fried apples brings back memories. Thank you for sharing!
It all looks So Delicious, Miss Lori! Thank You for sharing your recipes with us and I hope to be able to make some soon. God Bless You Always.✝️❤️🛐
Laripen! I’ve never heard anyone but my daddy say that! He would be 106 and it warmed my heart to hear you say that! And you are right - fried apples are laripen! ❤
What is Laripen?
@@janel697 in today’s language it would be yummy or delicious!
I have never had chicken chili. So I am excited to watch you share this recipe. Thanks so much. God Bless You and Mr. Brown.....
White chili looked so delicious. I need to add more “stuff” to mine. Yum on that dessert.
The fried apples looked yummy. I never heard of chicken chili or fried apples. And I was southern raised, lol !
Blessed Wednesday evening Ms Lori and Mr. Brown.
Years ago we went on vacation in Virginia and discovered “hunt breakfast” fried apples were one of its essential ingredients, also could have included grits, pancakes, ham, fried chicken scrambled eggs, biscuits. Still fondly enjoyed by my family and always must include fried apples. White chicken chili I never made but it reminds me of the Brunswick stew my mom used to make, but I think that had Lima beans. Everything looks delicious as usual, Thanks Miss Lori!
Just Saying giggles 🤭that’s Awesome really sounds yummy 👍🧐💯
I love the old photos in the intro. Yummy supper, pantry meals are so good but hard to remember the recipe when you hit the jackpot on the recipe
So true!
Ms.Lori everything looks so scrumptious 😋 another great video🙏🏽❤️
Love, love, love your opening and this whole video. Blessings as always, dear Browns!
