Thanks for the video, which I watched several times in its entirety before installing the same VW-supplied deflector on our Taos. Your guidance proved incredibly helpful, and you were correct that attaching the outer metal clips loosely to the deflector and then sliding those over the 3M adhesive after attaching the deflector to the centre clip, and the two more central screw-anchored clips, was the way to go, as it also allowed precise positioning of the outermost adhesive strips, which are not centred exactly on the outermost under-hood screw holes to align with the metal clips, but rather roughly 3/15" inboard of the holes toward the centre of the hood. Thus, leaving the application of the outermost 3M strips until after the hood deflector is fastened to the 3 more central metal clips, and the precise alignment of the outermost clips is known, is the way to go!
Thanks for the video. Other than the deflector making the vehicle nicer, how well does it work for keeping bugs and very small rocks of the hood and windshield?
It’s a great vehicle! It does what I need it to do as a daily for groceries and when I go to the range. It is not a Jeep or truck by any means. It can go off-road by not rock climbing. Other than that, I’m happy with it. Stay tuned, I’ll have more updates with this!

To be honest, I think it does a great deal. But then again, the SUV sits higher than a passenger car so rock chips may not be hitting it directly.
Is the VW deflector able to withstand automatic carwash?
