I'm the guy you talk about a lot on this channel. I was into the hobby in the 90s but it was expensive. Now in my 50s I have more time to play! I appreciate all you do to honestly inform us about the new technology and products that are available. Thanks Brian and Camera Crew!
I was wondering if the second thoughts video would ever come for the Cherokee. So glad you made it! I got mine after watching your build/maiden video and is now my favourite too. Thanks for all the fun and wisdom you and the camera crew never fail to deliver! Happy Mother's Day to her and love seeing her and the kids flying too. Keep the fun and joy of RC coming Brian!
Thanks again!
Great Video Thanks. I just ordered one from Horizon Hobbies a couple of days ago. I have been fortunate enough to own and fly a 1971 Cherokee for 25 years. You mentioned in the video you weren't sure of the cruise speed of a full scale Cherokee 140. It is about 120 miles an hour.
Best camera crew for sure! Finally got a face to put to the voice.
This is one of my favourites and just excellent. Thanks for sharing that crazy long flight time. I put an Avian 45A inside so I do have telemetry and reverse in mine.
sweet! And thrust reverse???
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes!!
Not a bad price for such a beauty. Love the lights That is the kind of flying I love Love the sounds of the birds in the background.
Thanks Tim, and I agree - great plane.
You might remember me from the slow transmitter, I left it in my dads truck during soccer and while it was in there it warmed up and now it’s fixed! Thank you for the help
Great!
She is a great camera crew I watch many other youtube channels and none are better
100% agree - Megan is amazing!
I still fly old sig kits and just purchased 4 os la engines they purr like a kitten.with great idle.I do like this piper and the Cirrus ,I do work on both at my job that It's nice that my workplace is my hobby to .Im thinking of trying electric soon.great flying Brian.thanks
Very nice plane, I might need to add to my collection. Thanks for your time...
You're welcome, and yes you do ;) Cherokee bit.ly/3vyjdNi
I almost died when Brian was talking about taking your battery out of your moped to crank nitro etc planes 😆🤣 I took the battery out of my GS 750 and swopped it in and out of my flight box over 20yrs ago. lol Love the Cherokee Looks awesome flies great can't say a bad word about it except the price hehe.
Nice flying Brian 🔥👍
Great job as always Camera Crew 🔥👍✌️
Recived mine not long ago. The price is great, it's a lot of plane for the price.
Beautiful GA plane. Thanks for the revisit 😉
Absolutely! Love this plane!
I was expecting the new HH Eflite 1.2 Corsair this morning, but this works. (I guess, like the last 5 plane that came out, no one got them yet) But I love everything about this Cherokee. When I see you flying a lot of the planes that I own, I remember how much I like it and immediately want to take it out.
We just filmed our unbox, build, radio setup, and maiden flights...she is very good, as expected - oh yeah - F4U Corsair bit.ly/30TcMX3
Turds...LOL You got that right! On the 3rd rebuild of my Carbon Cub S2, and have only flown it a handful of times. 😆
I must say, I have forgotten the turd reference, of which you bring up - LOL :)
So glad you are doing second and 3rd thoughts videos. Especially since horizon is on the low wing re-release.
awesome! Glad you're enjoying them!
i Love this plane, I bought it after watching your original video and other reviews. I wonder why nobody comments on the dummy rudder light. I pulled the light out today and found that it is simply a piece of clear plastic, would rather have had an actual light on the rudder. I am trying to figure out how to run the wires and add a LED that functions on the rudder. I watched some of your early videos on that subject and appreciate the information you share on your channel.
I agree, best camera crew, compared to so many others, she’s the best. Great couple, awesome videos…
Thanks so much!!! She is amazing!!!
Wow, very cool. Thank you guys.
Our pleasure!
Got my instrument rating in a PA28. Very stable flying plane and looks good!
COOL!!!! I'd love to copy-cat that!
I really like this plane, and its scale is to my liking.
do it ;)
Cherokee bit.ly/3vyjdNi
My first big RC plane was a P-51 June night 1.2 mm and I learned how to fly off 400 mm P-51 Mustang both I've learned from your TH-cam channel
NICE!!! Thanks :)
Great video Brian and Wifey. How similar in flight charictoristics is this one to the RV-7 also flown on 3s.
Not even in the same ballpark. RV7 is a crazy fast, performance creature...this is low and slow, and ready to drop the package out the window ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC After changing out the horrible E Flite wheels on the RV-7 to make it land "normal" it is definitely one of my favorite airplanes. It does whatever you tell it to do. Even loves the wind. But for just cruising around to get some relaxing stick time, I'm still considering this Cherokee. Thanks for the response Buddy.
Cool plain just blasted my turbo timber umx again so saving the good parts and getting another one . Got about 25 flights in with and it is awesome flying. I need plain I can land on graval with so stol plains are great.
I suspect you could get the 1.5m Turbo Timber Evo, almost certainly.
Man this model has actually been off my radar. Idk, just something about it isn't that appealing. Yet, after seeing this second thoughts on it. It does look very very gorgeous. Those lights just set it off. And literally just as you were comparing it to the t-28. I was thinking "man it kinda looks just as stable as the t-28" 😂
Great video as always, Brian. And happy belated Mother's Day to the Camera Crew! I can't wait for you to review the new corsair and the F-14 😉
This plane is way more on the "relaxing" side, and it's just look REAL. The thing is, the T-28 is amazing, since you can do the CRAZY FAST, and scale, but then aerobatics galore...this one, it's more like, the plane WANTS you to fly it respectfully ;)
Ive been torn between this and the cirrus.
Nice job, I'll be watching flicks from a for years to come even if you didn't make another flick. Nice jobs from you two. Hey, I busted the landing gear on my turbo timber only one time. I broke the prop cause my doggy ran out iront of me on take off (see video and laugh, dog is ok) But I can take off and land most any prop plane without scratching or beating them up. Oh I flew umx turbo timber a couple times but 1.5 turbo timber is my seconed plans the June night p51 was my first. No crashes being a beginner but I read research and watch you Alot. Thanks
AWESOME! Keep at it, and you'll be flying any plane you want in no time...seriously. Practice will shorten the 2-3 years it takes most to get "proficient".
@@BrianPhillipsRC I'm not as good as you but I don't like safe anymore. It takes away from what I want to do. I don't have the most take off and landing space and my runway is about the width in between rows of tomatoes in plastic. So I need my no bank limits. 😝
Very nice glider by Kavan
What you need is a Kraton 8s truck rc... And you have so many places to drive when wind is bad.
yes
Nice looking plane. I learned to fly on a Cherokee. Great plane but not even 150 much less 250. Mine at least was about a 135mph at cruise.
WOW - that's slow!!! Thanks for the info.
lovely looking plane Brian and a nice video to present it. you know what I'd love to see on your videos, not necessarily important on this one but id love to see GPS speeds. I'm starting to put a GPS in mine to see how fast it can go how how high it climbed. cheers Mark 🇬🇧
I have a couple sensors, and could address you request, but probably only on the "FAST" ones...these slower fliers are pretty slow ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC cheers Brian 👍🏾
I haven’t flown rc airplanes in about 10 years. I use to be pretty good at it. I just bought the Voodoo and the Pitts mini. Would this plane be a good one to have for getting back into flying?
After watching you fly jets, it seems like this video is in slow motion...
Hmmmm nice plane....
BACK TO THE JETS
Totally different experiences, but you can really appreciate flight at a slower speed.
its Real Airplane great🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻Hello Brian
sure does look real!
Was into plane modeling and control line flying in the middle 50s until girls and the Marine Corps ended the hobby for me. Got into RC planes about 2.75 years ago, at age 75, largely due to the RC Saylors channel. Great hobby even for old farts like me.
Glad you're here! Great hobby, so much fun to explore!!!

Brian, I love this plane. It is still in the box ... hm
I will try with 3S 2200 mAh (?)
Best regards
Should be just fine on 3S 2200mah ;) Good luck!
@@BrianPhillipsRC
Tkank you.
I really like the Cherokee
It is really good.
Will probably come out with another one V2 but blue...👍🤠
LOL - "...V2 But Blue..." - you're killing me Brian!!! LOL
I love this plane, and for the moment, it's already a V2, I believe ;)
Nothing like opening the box for your first plane and it looked like you just bought a balsa wood lumber yard. Spend a month building it and 10 seconds wrecking it 😂 so time ago.
yes, this was the way it was for everyone 25 years ago!!!
Stay away from the RAIN1... This plane is so tempting.
LOL
I thinkbI still have scars on my index finger from Flipping Prop on glow engine. Lol. Crystals . OMG I'm 63 and have lived through a lot up incredible upgraded technology. Awesome stuff. But feeling old. 😕
No kidding!!!! Can you imagine what it'll be like for me when I'm 63? Tech is advancing so quick!!
So do you think this a step up/down/lateral move from a tte?
So the battery guide for this says 3S or 4S - 2200-3200 mah. Can you safely use slightly larger, say a 3500 4S without overpowering the ESC and hurting it? A 3000 4s 30C is 275 grams and the 3500 4S 35C is 300 grams and only $10 more. I'll gladly sacrifice some nominal weight for longer flight times when I can get it. The Cherokee comes stock with a 50 amp ESC.
yes - More mAh is just more capacity, NOT a higher voltage and/or current, despite Amps being in mAh ;).
It's only going to require you to possibly move the pack around to make CG right, provided it physical fits...
Finally, you'll see a lighter pack will make MOST planes fly better, but it's not a "deal breaker" for a low wing loading plane like this. Go for it!
I'd like to see Brian trade places with his camera crew. Just for a short time, I think it would be amusing. Brian, are you up for the challenge?
I've done it. I'm not good at filming, and Megan gets very nervous and doesn't care to be in front of the camera. BUT she had been in front of the camera a lot over the years.
This RC Plane is awesome! But the motor Shaft can Bent easily and the Elevator is very fragile!
I haven't had issues with either, but any plane that gets crashed is susceptible to damage. This is why I cringe when someone says they want to learn to fly on this or other "2nd or 3rd" planes.
Hey Brian, any thoughts on my thinking of using a 3S 50C 2200 instead of 30C, I'm thinking throttle might be a bit punchier when doing grass takeoffs??? Excellent video as always.
You won't even know the difference. You certainly can, but I wouldn't worry about it at all. Higher C pack will almost always help a plane, motor, esc to perform better, cooler, safer. Higher rate is ALLOWED, not required...thus you probably won't even draw any more appreciable performance, aside from cooler pack at the end of your flight.
That being said, I don't want to talk you out of it. IT is a good idea always ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for responding Brian, much appreciated, keep the videos coming! 👍👍
Hi...i have a question, i have Piper Cherokee 1.3 E-flite, so what size of propeller i should use if should i have to replace it...thank you
Easiest way to figure this out would be to follow our link (in the video description), then if the plane doesn't show up, like if it's discontinued, click "Show Discontinued Items" and then you can see what they recommend from Horizon Hobby.
Looks like Google has decided to block our link that was in that video description!!!
This is what you'd be following - bprc.me/Cherokee

?
hey Brian love your channel and I'm a TH-cam videographer myself so first off your wife films your flights amazing she don't miss and I know how hard it is to film. Ok so my question is I'm new never flown a plane but I fly heli and drones, with that said I'm thinking of just jumping in to the cirrus sr22t v2 or the nv7 or this Cherokee can you please suggest which one and am I wrong for just jumping straight in?
thank you so much
1) Cherokee would be BEST for your situation, I think. ( Cherokee bit.ly/3vyjdNi )
2) Cirrus would be my 2nd ( Cirrus SR22T bit.ly/3r7ASe0 )
3) RV7 - no...not yet...she's a FIRECRACKER ;) ( RV7 bit.ly/3DqNqSd )
What about this - Apprentice bit.ly/2OIjVHd ??? Super easy to fly, and great crossover???
i just bought my cherokee 1.3m and the right aileron servo came damaged, it flutters, twitches, and i can hear the gears grinding against each other. how can i fix this?
I'm bringing back the wooden box. Lol!!!!
LOL
First plane Balsa usa stick 40 plus. the only plain I know of that's indestructible. short of yard darting it. Even then it might survive with a clean-up.
WOW! Really!?!?!
Great video! My heart stopped a couple times, I really like the slow flying! I'm looking at the Pioneer 620 RTF, what do you think?
Good beginner choice, and you can work up to the cherokee when you're ready!
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you!
I want to make this my second plane, I have an aeroscout that I fly often.
This plane would be a good 2nd plane ;)
How much is that Cherokee plane I would like to buy that but I don't know how to go down to the links to order
I just shared this... Cherokee bit.ly/3vyjdNi ...all you do it click the link. Then it's like you were at HorizonHobby.com, only you happened to come from our channel.
Could you get more flight time on a 4s 3200 mah battery?
I don't know how much more flight time you would get, since there's a tradeoff on payload size to extra capacity.
Did that left wing get damaged? Looked like it hit pretty hard at ~ 20:34-35
it didnt look like it hard at all to me. I doubt very much it got damaged
I didn't see any. Maybe a scuff? (I may have missed it, to be totally honest)
does this fly very similar to the HH RV-7, as they look similar...........thanks
No - it's the OPPOSITE. I love the way this flies, and while the RV7 is capable as heck, this plane flies RIGHT ;)
Flies great 👌
oh yeah!!!!
What charger do you recommend for smart 6s batteries?
S2200 bit.ly/398ohO6 - might as well get the best one. It's expensive to get the next best, so another few bucks and you got a dual channel charger.
I just bought this plane directly from HH and received it a week ago. Since then, I already had 3 outings(6 flights) with it because the flying conditions were so nice. But I had to put lots of aileron trim(+70) in order for it to fly straight and level. Is this acceptable, or do I need to contact HH and tell them that I received a defective plane?
Did you try going back to center and manually adjusted the trim at the servo or arm?
@@OneHitSoDak How do I do this with aileron servos? Is it easily accessible?
Do a mechanical trim to fix this, so you don't mess with AS3X.
@@BrianPhillipsRC how do i do a mechanical adjustment on ailerons? The linkages and control horn settings are currently identical on both wings.
@@aragorn318 I would fly it, trim it out to flying level, then land it. Those positions that your aerilons are in would be your new centers for the servos. AS3X should adjust around those new basics, Brian might have some better words, not sure on how AS3X will react.
If you're flying a real Piper Cherokee-6, top speed is 174 mph. Beyond that you're exceeding the planes limits. Aerobatic maneuvers should never be attempted unless you want to land without wings 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, sorry about the 250 mph...I looked it up, and not quite that quick ;)
Just loading up on as much info as possible to jump in to RC flying and definitely get a kick out of your videos! You both are great fun to watch.
As for aerobatics in a Cherokee, I can assure you that an aileron roll can in fact be accomplished without the wings falling off. I had just gotten out of the Navy flying off of Carriers almost 4 decades ago and was working on my CFI when the instructor, perhaps to impress me, said watch this, and did a very nice aileron roll. I had actually learned to fly in the Cherokee 10 years prior but I gotta tell you……I was somewhat uncomfortable not having that ejection seat anymore!
Could I buy that from you that Cherokee plane
You can buy it here... Cherokee bit.ly/3vyjdNi
My Bong is Blocked @22:22
LOL!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Aahhaha!
Broke anuffa toofpick Govna.
I switched over to electrics when the cost of nitro became too expensive. My flight times decreased by 50%.
But your hassle time decreased 100%. never have problems getting your motor started
Bigger battery ;)
1.3
yeah, caught that later. Sorry
You're not do this plane justice by flying it so unusually slow. This flies and looks best on 4S 2200 and can take windy conditions.
Really? I disagree. I love watching it slow and low....but to all their own. She can go fast, but I LOVE it slow.
Not trying to argue here, btw...just thought we would all agree this plane looks so dang sexy slow...
If it had 180 horsepower engine in it
typicall 124 Knotts course speed.
Sorry about that, I looked it up and was like - OOOOOPS ;) Definitely not 250 mph ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC no apology necessary I was not being critical I wasn't even sure if my memory serves me correct anyhow the only reason I halfway knew it was because a friend of mine owns a Cherokee LOL just ignore my comments haha
If you have Alex Baldwin in that Cherokee, do a fly over and see if he can fly with out the plane . Lots of gangsters in LA. These days😂😂🤣🤣
LOL!!!
IDK why but it's soo scale i feel like there's Tiny passengers in there! I would have crashed them into the front of the house 🤣.
