I can 100% agree that management of your cables make adding or working inside your PC better; Took less than an hour to put in a new SSD and get everything switched over to the new drive due to having immediate access to every needed cable and install point.
Same. I really enjoyed building my PC, it was a lot of fun so I keep watching PC build guides. Trying to convince my friends to switch to pc so I can build one for them.
TIP: if you use those flush cutters like in the video for the zip ties. Put the flat cutting end next to the zip tie latch. It will cut the excess flush making the end nice and flat. This makes it easier to adjust things without cutting yourself with the sharp end of the zip tie slack.
Real nice tutorial , but I would really appreciate cable management on something like a mini-ITX build since space is a premium in those scenarios and some tips would be nice
Most guides and builders don't bother with this, but I'm a strong advocate for: plan your cable runs before building, and run them before anything else as much as possible. Specifically, I often find that before you install the mobo or PSU, there are small cutouts and spaces that are blocked by installing them which can allow for some cleaner runs. Often with the front IO cables. Also for most cases, running EPS before screwing the board in makes it easier to plug in. Like, a lot.
@@drunkhusband6257 haven't built a whole lot of PCs, then :D Or at least not with a large variety of cases. I've seen plenty. Tbf not always "cutouts meant for cables" per se, but "holes that happen to be the best place for a cable", that happens a lot. More often there's some holes in the PSU shroud the PSU will block which can be used for bottom-of-the-board stuff, or perhaps there is no good cutout for a cable so routing it just directly from behind the mobo crop up vs "the board literally blocks a hole", yeah. The board itself is fairly 2-dimensional, so blocking cutouts isn't likely. But there have been many cases where routing cables from behind the board directly to where they need to go is ideal, and for that you wanna run em before screwing it down.
Oooooh. That sounds like a fantastic idea. I immediately looked at my AIO hoses which branch off near the radiator and remembered the previous times I wished I could do something about them. Glad I scrolled down this far. Thanks mate
In SFX builds where space is a premium, I would recommend getting or making custom length cables. Not only does it look better, it'll also improve airflow in the case.
Hey don’t know if you will see this but thank you for giving me info on pcs and how to build them since (hopefully) I will be building my first one this summer
i find that running the cpu cable before installing the mobo can help in cheaper tighter cases. doesnt need to be plugged in but routing it first allows for it to be cable managed properly
One advice I have is that if you build a new pc before installing the power supply, start by managing the case cables, and then continue with the psu cables.
Screw cable management. As far as im concerned the computer case is just an electrical box. By the way its not easier to trouble shoot - its harder since you cant see where a cable starts and ends
