You just reminded me, a friend told me the automatics sound better because they brap when they shift. I took him out in my manual and did some hard pull shifts or some shifts while turning lightly and it braps. The brap turns out is nothing to do with being auto or manual, it's all to do with if the traction control is activated, it induces a missfire to reduce power.
It has nothing to do with traction control, seems like it's the sound of ignition cut and fast transition to lower RPMs due to higher gear.

Weird question, does it still make that shift crackle,popping valvetronic exhaust sound on both automatic and manual transmission? I have always wanted to know.
iQREATE you mean the sound, when gearbox upshifts or pops, when you lift the throttle?
Pashtette yeah the awesome "mechanical" sound during gear change. I feel like the manual wouldn't shift fast enough to make that same sound.
iQREATE you're totally right, this sound comes from fast shifting auto gearboxes, because of instantly dropping rpms, so you can't hear that in manual transmissions or older auto gearboxes, like in previous generation MINIs, though the gearbox itself was the same, it was tuned differently :)
Pashtette thanks for the break down, I usually always go for manual trans, do you find the auto shifts pretty quick? Doesnt mini have two auto transmission choices used for the f55/56? Thanks for the reply by the way!
iQREATE yes, quick enough to not paying attention on it. It has auto and sport auto - it the same transmission, but with different tuning. I actually didn't find any differences, while driving slowly, but the best thing sport auto has - it doesn't upshift, when it hits rev limiter, also you get paddles only with sport auto.

If your car is tuned and then you put on the decat . Do you need to tune it again ?
Super Sport depends on what tune you have. It needs a special tune for decat.
Thank you for the answer! One more question. Do you know if there is any way of putting a Valvetronic system to your OEM exhaust so whenever you want you can make your car sound less ?

Cattless, right, no lights because it was remapped with Manic stage2 software, there's no point in downpipe without ECU tune.
figured, didn't know if I should get the dp first then the manic tune but I'll just get them both done at the same time lol. pretty typical question but was there a huge difference with the tune?
Yes, big difference, my 5-Door 1360kg MINI with bigger wheels (215/45 R17 is 9mm bugger, than stock 205/45 R17) goes 100-200km/h neck and neck with 1240 kg F56 JCW, then it outruns JCW :)
