      @@lary0728 its suppose to be up to audience interpretation. For me it was the going from the professional camera and seeing Mooneys world in a stark reality to filiming on an iPhone and shooting at the kids level that represented a shift from audience member to inside Mooneys head. So in the end shes running away to live in a castle with her bestfriend to escape whats happening to her

      Leen Shaheen it’s also trying to convey the idea that Disney is said to be the “most magical place on earth” yet right outside of it there is some serious poverty issues. Right before it ends you see a family that are clearly vacationers taking a picture in front of the castle. Their / most perceptions of being there as a tourist is far from the reality that the characters in the film face

      +Arnav Goswami Oh, the crying at the end was the only part where I remembered that the little girl is an actress, acting. The crying was so clearly the result of an acting coach saying "think about something very sad... now how does this make you feel?" It took me completely out of the moment.

      A film like this exists in a higher level than the pump & dump Hollywood drivel that’s in need of recognition & awards. The true reward if any great film is the output of love from its audience. The passion of making this great film into a cult classic film(which its well on its way!) is far more fascinating and beautiful than praise by award in some competition. I love this film and the fusion of actors was brilliant.

      The Academy is made of old farts with narrow tastes and they’ve been lost since their favored studios Miramax and The Weinstein Company imploded under scandal and for some reason have huge bias against A24 and streaming services for being newfangled.

      The ending was the most beautiful part if the film and brings home the metaphor that runs through the movie. Disney World is synonimous with heaven, and all roads lead to it's promise. However, the reality is that along that road is the harshness of life. Yet, childhood can be it's own Disney World, and the ending is just a child escaping into fantasy when her world, a Disney World of her own is threatened. No, Moony didn't really go to the theme park, it was already there in her mind.
      Brillant film.

      That’s one of the many things I dislike about comic book movies. You can’t get any more mainstream or typecast as an actor. There’s a large amount of the population who sees Robert Downey Jr and can only think Iron Man. There’s a TH-cam video of some random people coming across Christian Bale discussing a scene from a totally different movie with a director in a crowded public place. The only thing you hear when people walk by is “Batman?”, “Hey look! It’s Batman!” Both those actors have done SO much more and better stuff. But I guess they knew that was coming when they signed up for those roles. $

    I just recently heard about this movie. I grew up in a very loving, two parent upper middle class Florida family. We were actually annual pass holders at Disney when I was a child and went about twice a month. However, due to making bad choices and trusting the wrong person, I was briefly homeless and spent a few months living in a crappy Fl motel much like the one in the movie. From what I've seen, this movie does a VERY good job of depicting motel life. In fact, the reason I haven't been able to watch the entire movie yet is because the clips are so accurate they actually trigger me a bit. So kudos to the cast and crew for making it so "real" and shining a light on what it's like.

    Really gotta give it to Willem Dafoe. He is a seasoned actor who's been through the whole gauntlet of the Hollywood machine and he's embracing new talents and new generations of cinema. You can tell Dafoe loved being a part of this movie, he seems proud of this production in all his interviews and you can tell he genuinely enjoys working with his other cast members. I think The Florida Project currently is still fairly unknown outside its niche crowds, but it's picking up traction and in time more people will discover it and it's going to go down as one of the great 21st-century films, a future classic waiting to be discovered.

    The way how it's filmed , the acting of the whole cast ( Willem Dafoe , such a great name and he is brilliant in this film ) , the realistic story-line and the brlliant location where the film is recorded and how it's filmed : the camera-work is so good and well choosen .

  • @christophermarini5738
    @christophermarini5738 4 ปีที่แล้ว +118

    The girl is adorable and very talented but it always rubs me a little bit the wrong way when I see how mature these child actors are. Her mannerism when she patted Wilem on the shoulder was very adult-like (and done with more comfort and charisma than I could produce if I practiced day and night).
    I was a punk kid when I was 22. By age 24, I was a young adult. And it is because I matured like crazy working my first real job surrounded by adults who treated me like an adult. We tend to mimic our peers - especially linguistically and in our mannerisms. We also tend to fill the role in which we our placed in.
    I think actors (probably rightfully so) respect their young co-stars and treat them professionally as peers. Which is great, but I think it makes the kids grow up way too fast. They miss out on their childhood and may even have more contact with adults than children their own age.

    Amazing movie the children were just phenomenal, first time actors, William Defoe acted as a catalyst to allow these natural first time actors to shine. It Takes an incredible self confidence to allow other actors to shine while Dafoe would cultivate the improvisational gold that these talented first young actors were able to bring to the screen. Really increased my respect for Dafoe as an in-provisional actor, as well as a human being who allowed others to shine in this beautiful independent film about a single mother and her daughter living of the periphery of Disney Land adjacent motel filled with other marginalized families. Truly inspiring and tragic film, filled with scene after scene of acting that is so truthful , and so worth watching.
