    what if, i save the ball from out of bounds by tipping it in (i'm not out of bounds while tipping) then i jump out and then in again (two foots are in field) can i take the ball? sorry for my english :)

      That is a legal play! As long as the player established position inside the court, he can play the ball :) Great question!

      www.fiba.basketball/documents/official-basketball-rules/2020.pdf. Rule 23.1.1 and 23.2.2. Body must be in contact with or outside the boundary line in order to be deemed out of bounds. In your scenario, the player was inbounds when they played the ball.

      You can “autopass/hustle“ with the corner of the board

    Great work. Love your channel. When inbounding the ball from the baseline is it a violation if the ball hits part of the backboard?

    • @refereeuniversity
      @refereeuniversity  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Robert! Only if it hits the portion of the backboard that are deemed out of bounds during live ball play

    Ok, so what if I run to save the ball from going out of bounds, save the ball before it goes out of bounds by tapping it, but then I continue on out of bounds a bit because of my momentum, but I def don't have control of the ball at that point, it's a loose ball. Then I come back on the court and retrieve the loose ball? Is that legal?

    • @refereeuniversity
      @refereeuniversity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Legal as long as you attain status on the court (Nothing touching out of bounds and one foot in bounds), else it would be an out of bounds violation.

  • @stephenokoye7791
    @stephenokoye7791 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if:
    In an attempt to save the ball, player A hits the ball on a player B(who's already out of bound: BOTH feet standing outside the boundary line).
    Who will have possession of the ball?

    Hello - on FIBA ART.27, closely guarded rule - I was told the FIBA closely guarded violation only occurs if "one" defender is closely guarding the offensive player, not more than one...? can you pleae comment?

    • @refereeuniversity
      @refereeuniversity  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need at least one defender close to the player holding the ball for the count to start.

    Thanks for this very useful content.
    I have a question about the situation when team "A" throw the ball on somebody (active player or bench player or coach of team "B") who is out of bounds.
    As I understand the rule , to touch a player out of bounds or an object out of bounds or the ground directly is the same so the ball should go to team B but an official referee argued the contrary last game so I would like to be sure....
    Thanks again !

    • @refereeuniversity
      @refereeuniversity  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If a Team A active player throws that ball at an active player from Team B, who is out of bounds and gets hit, it is Team A's possession.
      If a Team A active player throws that ball at a bench player or coach from Team B is out of bounds and gets hit, it is Team B's possession.
      The difference is it has to be an active player being hit (1 of the eligible 5 players) for it to be off them. Does that make sense?

    • @mathias3127
      @mathias3127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@refereeuniversity thanks for the Reply, yes the difference makes sense but I thought the team B's active player who is out of bounds (feet on the ground) was "out of game" in some way and touching him or the ground directly was the same

      Not out of bounds violation due to no team or player having possession of the basketball. Jump ball

  • @egp2497

    What if the ball hits the top of the backboard goes over but bounces inbounds is that out of bounds because it hit the top and went over?
    Edit: to rephrase, the ball hits the top of the backboard bounces upward towards the back of the backboard but lands and bounces inbound.

    • @refereeuniversity

      As long as it does not hit the supports (Things holding the basketball net) then it is legal and still in bounds
