    Wow! That's a legend. He was respectful, kind, and helpful. It will be very hard for anyone to find someone like him now. May he rest in peace.

    "We told the truth, we followed the law, we kept the peace." Walter Mondale, quoted by his son, describing how Mondale and Carter characterized their approach to Carter's Presidency. Keep that in mind over the coming weeks and months.

      Yeah, "the Peace". The world burned with this idiot in office and the country went in the toilet.

    It's nice to have a reminder that it is possible to have a President with dignity and intelligence. Hopefully we'll get one of those again some day.

      We can hope. Also, he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Plus he was someone who cared about helping others and he was not obsessed with money and power.

    What a rockstar President Carter was. Hard to believe he was joking about his struggles of being 80 back in 2004.

      LOL, he had 20 more years to go. I remember when it was announced that he had cancer, I thought, "That's it. He had a great life."....and he lived 10 more years after that.

      @privatepenguin3137 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +6

      Jimmy Carter's idea of "struggling at 80" is that he had to cut down to hammering in roof shingles to 10 hours a day instead of 14 🤣

      Rest in Power, President Carter. I'll bet Rosalynn and Jimmy were glad to spend some time together again! Soon they will be hanging out under their willow tree dreaming up some good trouble. The USA has two additional angels, heavens knows we need the help! Starting with housing! Thank you President Carter. 🗽

    We were lucky to have him as long as we did. All the good he brought AFTER leaving office. No one would bat an eyelash if he had just sat back and did the speaking engagements tour for the rest of his days.
    Instead he’s out building houses, allowing Habitat for Humanity to use his name and likeness, and trying to bring more good into the world everyday he could. He was a great man…and most importantly…a good man.

    When we had respectful professional men that led the world, that were kind and looked out for us all. Hopefully honest men like this will lead us again one day and we will also have great reapectful people like Letterman who can make us laugh and yet show us the wonderful people that are with us and show how they are just like the rest of us. May god bless these men and god bless america and god bless the future that we all may have to endure in the coming years.

    Jimmy Carter's economic were 2 fold.
    Once upon a time, we paid for wars, the bills usually coming due rufley 10 years after the initiation of a conflict. Remember Vietnam?
    The second was the energy crisis created by our dependence on foreign oil and it's escalating costs.
    You table the problems as best you can. He will be known as the country's last president leaving office with our national debt under a trillion dollars.
    By the time Reagan left office, we were pretty close to 4 trillion debt.

    Rest in Peace, Former President Carter, great humantiran, great mind. I was born in 1976, I can clearly say our nation was to strung on stupidity to see how wise he was. We are on a slippery slope now. Rest in peace, Mr. Carter.

    Jimmy Carter parlayed his Habit for Humanity work and Sunday school teaching into covering for not only his failed presidency but his failed post-presidency impact on the world. If not for Carter, Hugo Chavez would have never been validated as President of Venezuela and who knows what a positive difference that would have made for not only the citizens of that decimated country, but of the hemisphere and the world. His approach to the Mideast post-presidency was also a failure, giving his imprimatur on the idea that Israel was/is an apartheid state, in the process not-so-tacitly giving the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah legitimacy.
