The Director (Douglas Mackinnon) absolutely said the cgi was meant to be sort of grungy off-kilter, and later there is a good reason why some of the cgi looks rather child-like.
I will never not love this series, and it's always delightful to see new people discovering it. The humor is spot-on, the relationship between our boys is brilliant, and it is SUCH a faithful adaptation of the book, in so many ways. But, I do feel it necessary to note that the series does omit one thing. Spoilers for the book in 5 4 3 2 1 The surplus baby does indeed go on to win prizes for his tropical fish.
Considering this was written by Niel Gaiman and Terry Prachett, the whole intro and the Narrator just feels so perfectly like the old Discworld Footnotes Terry used to include! Also, IIRC Neil Himself worked on this show as well, which always helps.
I'm just now realizing that while initially Crowley might have thought about the Earth when wanting to save it, or maybe just knew this would motivate Aziraphale, but as evidenced by the "go off together" line, he eventually realized that he could live without it if only Aziraphale was there...
After you finish the series you should read the book. It fleshes out a few things the mini-series glosses over, including the running joke about about Queen.
And....Looking forward to seeing whether you catch all the Easter eggs. I had to go back and watch it again immediately to catch all the fun little gags, read all the signs, letters, cards, etc. So much fun stuff crammed into this show.
Great reaction! May I say, though, that Michael Sheen is just as great of an actor as David Tennant? His performances are inspired, absolutely flawless and the most versatile I've ever seen. He is a chameleon in everything he does, so much that you have probably seen him in tons of films but wouldn't realize it because he completely fuses with each role. Aziraphale might just be his best work. I know people watching Good Omens for the first time have a tendency to focus on Tennant because he's more of a household name, but seriously, Michael Sheen deserves just as much praise.

I wouldn't say the plot was simplistic; simple, perhaps, although I've seen reactors who didn't even understand the baby switch happened until Crowley and Aziraphale figured it out. And I wouldn't say Crowley is "bad," per se.

Went back and rewatched your Good Omens reactions. Still loving it. Found this Deleted scene the other day. It's a nice little Crowley shutting down the London area mobile network thingy. As fare as i understand it was only deleted because they had to cut something to shorten the episode. David was a bit sad this scene was removed. Because in the end he throws his jacket over a fence and it lands on top of it in first attempt. Something he was very proud of. But you do not see that in this video. Towards the end of your comments you suspect this might upset some people. In fact some religious group in the US raised an outraged petition demanding Netflix remove this impious, heretical, disrespectful and sacrilegious show. Netflix agreed not to show this Amazon program and last I heard the aggrieved group was raising a new petition against Amazon. No idea how it turned out.
