Taking accountability for your health and making sure you're around for your daughters is not a mid life crisis. It's the actions of a real man. The biggest lie we tell ourselves is that someone else will look after our health. But it's surely clear for all to see now that it's just a sickness industry that only makes money when we're sick. It's no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.
Sickness really *is* an industry. Fortunately, there are health care professionals who will do more than just reach for the prescription pad. I've been stuck indoors for months, recovering from a leg injury. One of the nurses at the surgery said an outdoor walk would be really good, so today I took her advice. Only about 1¼ miles, but it's a start.
I believe in you! You should have some family bikes days! Fitness journeys are real tough, but having friends and family (and us!!) keeping you accountable and backing you up will set you up for success! YOU CAN DO THIS! 1 day at a time!
DANGER ! The running machine belt should not face the wall as if you trip you will rip your skin to shreds as there is no escape. Turn it around 180degrees.
Im 52 and joined a gym a few years ago, best thing ive ever done. Feel much better sleep better just all round a good thing. Once you get into a habit there will be no stopping you. All the best 👍
The gym is a fantastic idea Gareth! This shows how motivated you are to move forward & take care of your health. I'm looking forward to updates on this journey. You're doing great 👍
Good for you Gaz, proud of you…….if you get bored on your treadmill, my husband John has one of those Oculus VR Headsets and he wears that while watching a TH-cam video (while he walks on treadmill) that people put on where they’re walking through the woods etc! Keeps him on the treadmill or he gets bored in about 5 seconds and it makes him really feel sometimes like he’s on a proper woodland stroll which we love to do, same would work for your bike with one of those cycling videos!…… good luck with your gym, keep us all updated how you’re getting on x❤x
Keep up the good work Gareth, determination is key. I am of a similar age as you know but with buggered knees so it's a gentle swim, sauna/jacuzzi for me for now 👍✊👊
After I gave updrinking 4 years ago,I done weight training from home, just a few weight nothing too heavy and yeah I do 5 days a week now,and have weekends off,but tip for you is just start off slow, because you don’t wanna be doing an hour or so,because that’ll put you off, just do just maybe 20-30 mins a day,but just to ease you into it,happy workouts, enjoy,
To be honest I think Arnie would be proud of you like the rest of us, I watched a ted talk on YT years ago which I will have to find and put in my something different playlist about his life. Sorry I haven't been in the comments, I've been soul searching and feeling good. It's been great watching your videos of your holiday to France and everything else too. When I've stopped drinking in the past I've used big water bottles as weights to work out, wish I had a set up like yours love it. I can see the difference in you and you are looking great keep it up. (be sure to take us for a spin if you get that sports car!) Or better still a go pro for the bike!!
Well I am proud of you, that's a great start. You've create an intention, dug out the kit, shared it with us, and... could I suggest sharing some. Probably best on hyperlapse, as gym stuff can be repetitive. It's not for us to get excited seeing you all sweaty... but if you tell us you'll do an hour, then you've committed. 😊 thoughts? I have some weights at home, real tough to do it inside on a hot day, so my bread and butter is a half hour run, each day, every day. Go for it Arnie 🎉
Well done!, love the gym and the changes your making will serve you well now and in future in mind and body, "remember consistency is key" . Best of luck mate.
It’s not a midlife crisis to want to look after yourself. Gym looks good 👍🏼 Me and my sister have walked every night whatever the weather for years and years. People think we are nuts 😅 We get stopped all the time by random people in barrow saying “omg we see you 2 walking all the time” 😂We’ve had random people asking us if we want a lift down Abbey Rd when we’re getting socked, but we politely decline and carry on.😆Whatever you choose to do to keep healthy, is a good thing.
Good luck in your next project. You’ve proved you have the will power, now you just need motivation, and that’s were we step in. We’ll be watching for updates! 🥵
Morning Gareth, having a good binge today. Made a gym, very well done. Have obviously never made a gym at home or in the garage (pedestrian 🚶🚶➡️🧍🏃🏃➡️) so just my personal junk room. However doesn't mean I have let my fitness slide. Joined my local health centre, about 15yrs ago. The other day I was in having a healthy Green Smoothie and got talking to a new member. He seemed shocked at my answer, when he asked me. Over all the years I've been a member what was my favourite machine. Well when I said " The one with the Mars Bars in!!! 🍫🍩🍪🍰🧁🥧He ran off crying 😢😢Honestly Gareth, for you yet another great step on making the transition to the new improved you. You are looking so good these days. The whole family must be so proud of you, as indeed you should be of yourself. Any way down to the Gym. Really fancy a Mars bar. Maybe go oft my normal path and grab a Snickers ( they were a sporting snack 🤔I remember them as Marathons 😂😂😂'a a good day. Cheers Allan&Family
YES GAZ! Love to see this. I swear by the gym!💪🏻 Just been diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer however and missing it badly! Hoping to get back to it soon though so I enjoy watching you do this.
Amazing idea Gaz,your really going for it! No looking back now, onwards and upwards, maybe review health shakes now and healthy options, be great to see something different,be interesting. 👍👌
I bought two sets of dumbbells with the weights a few years ago. Five days a week I go out for a brisk 20 minute walk and do weight training. I also do daily stretching. That was key to fixing my back problems. I used to have a treadmill and I miss it but it took up too much space in the house.
nice one G ! i got a sweat on clearing some brambles earlier in the garden... lol. I think I need to take a leaf out of your book. Have a good week boyo. Atb mate.
I got a few dumbbells during lockdown and use a cheap foot stool as a bench in my garage. And that’s my gym but still got into shape. I can only aspire to what you have!
How brilliant, Gareth. Well done you! Fantastic use of the space and you can only benefit from being in your new gym. Maybe a new career/business beckons.. Personal trainer maybe? You are clearly really motivated and i wish you all the best. Onwards and upwards with the new fitness regime. 😊 xx
This isn’t a mid life crisis! This is amazing self love and self care! Keep it up!✨
Thank you kindly 😊
