Looking at your two sets of demos, I would pick the Mk II. That's putting aside the known overheating issues of the Mk III, the lack of 24 fps video and price. Then again, many people want the picture quality and not video quality and say that's where the Mk III shines.
🤣 The grass shot was more to showcase quality in a shot with a lot of detail in it, not sure how well the youtube encoding will make it look though. Glad you liked the flower shots.
HI, Nice little video, I have both cameras and us the Mark 3 mostly now 1080p, and the marks B roll or the wife/kids use when on days out just to add bits to our vlogs! The 4K overheat is a pain so just don;t bother with it for vlogging!

Thanks dude. Yeah the mk2 is a solid camera and I've had mine for years now. I think the mk3 hasn't had had as much content made for it online so difficult to know much better it is. Hopefully viewing this on a 4k screen will help 😀
Very cool video man. They are both good cameras. This is funny, nowadays we look for a very sharp camera etc and then wen we have it we realise that a very sharp image looks very digital and we feel the nostalgia of something more "cinematic" lol..., then we buy filters, etc... I love the way the focus drops off behind the subject on the g7x mk3 alot more, you can see as I pull away in the video. Its an expensive game but I do enjoy it haha. All the best dude

Hi Diego, glad you enjoyed the video. Stabilisation wise, I found both to be very similar and I would be happy using either, normally on the standard settings.
Part metal part plastic, that said, I believe the top panel on the G7x iii is plastic where the mk2 is metal. But side by side, both cameras are rugged and you would struggle to tell them apart.
The autofocus on this camera, especially the III, is really subpar compared to competitors. Seems like the camera is always lagging behind searching for focus and noticeably soft often.
I have a TH-cam channel for my rabbits and I have I need something that will auto Focus fast due to them moving fast and something in lower light in my barn. I have the cannon m50 and I don’t really like it because I have trouble with the focus. I want to good point and shoot. What one do you think will be the best?
I would try either the sony zv1 or sony 6100 if you need something good for low light and quick autofocus. I have the a6400 which has the same auto focus system and its great.

But you get upgraded processor from v7 to v8, you get faster burst photo mode from 8 to 20, you get faster shutter using silent mode to go higher than 2000s. Plus all the video benefits. If any of that seems useful the go for the mk3. If you don't use any of those features then stick with the mk2 and save some cash.
Heya, you can't attach an external mic direct to the mk2. You have to use an external recording device, you can also use your phone to record an external mic and sync it up in post.
I always get crackling or poppy sounds from the mark ii, have you ever had that on the mark iii ? Sounds like you can hear the inner workings of the camera or something
Try focusing before you hit record. The popping should disappear. The lens focusing isn't silent on this camera so if you move from near to far it will make noise.

So which one do you still suggest to get? I or iii?
Should i buy a new g7x mark ii or a used g7x mark iii?
I would probably get the mk3 used. But the mk2 is still good, but I think mk3 would last a little longer these days given the age of the mk2

Really don't know why they didn't add dual pixel auto focus to this camera, really stopped it from being excellent.

g7x mark 2 starlapse mode is great, the mark iii cannot focus worth a punt
