In Season 2, Ymir chose to save Reiner and Bertholdt rather than stay with the survey corp. This decision prevented the survey corp from discovering the truth, saved Reiner and Bertholdt, and handed the Jaw Titan back to Marley. But what if Ymir stayed behind, how would the story change?

Well, what a final part!!! i'm happy both Ymir and Historia are alive at the end of the story, and i think the political aspect of this story makes sense until the very end, but there may have been a little too much focus on this "strategy" aspect and not much on the characters themselves. like, the 104th scouts only play a military role in this story, there is no arguing or trying to get Eren back from his madness. there is this interaction between Ymir/Historia and Annie, where Annie decides to try to stop the Rumbling, but it doesn't affect the story in any way. Ymir is tortured over her choice to be selfish with Historia and to let Eren continue the Rumbling without doing anything, and... and that's it? she just accepts this reality and lives happily (not ever, only a few years) with Historia? i kinda expected a lot more conflict between Historia and Ymir once they reunite: like, yes they're in love and they want to protect each other more than anything, but also they are now their true selves - so they should clash. Ymir is the most selfless character in AOT, and even if she did abandon Reiner and Berthold in this version, it still sounds more like a fluke in her story than a true character change. Her hesitation between saving Historia and stopping Eren proves that. And Historia is the "most terrible girl in the world", yet in this story, she doesn't have any power of action. She doesn't really make any choice, and she doesn't have a role except absolving Ymir of her guilt at the very end. since Ymir is still alive, i wasn't expecting Historia to support the Rumbling or to fight it, but i was expecting her to do something - to think something about it. she's the freaking queen after all, she has agency!! i don't know, it kinda feels like they both bailed out of the story (which i do understand, their main priority is each other, but i feel this priority wasn't built a lot in previous parts).
and once both Ymir and Historia bail out of a story in which they don't play a major role (since Historia is more of a piece/reason for other characters to act a certain way and Ymir is submitted to other people's plan), the main roles go to... Kenny and Xavier?? don't get me wrong, i really liked Xavier as an OC, but it feels like he took too much space - especially in this last episode. his decisions have more of an impact on the story than other characters. and well, i never liked Kenny in the canon show, so it's kinda annoying to see him take so much space in the story - only to die without reaching any goal but creating chaos in the end. but yeah, i'm biased on Kenny because i truly can't stand his character in any story (canon or not! :p). and about Xavier, i know he's your OC therefore you know him better than anyone, but i don't think he would support the Rumbling. like yeah, the guy wanted to see the rebirth of Eldia and he failed, but i don't think it means he would support the total destruction of Marley - of everything he knows (even if he comes from a different era), of every Eldian still in Marley (who are potentially descendants of his own people).
basically, i understand why you made the choices you made in this ending, and i'm glad Ymir and Historia get out of this story alive (for a short while), but it all feels quite nihilistic and pointless. Eren succeeds his Rumbling but kills his friends and is sad about it, i don't know if it's worse than him trying to "save his friends" by killing everyone or not. Kenny dies without achieving nothing, but the guy was already suicidal anyway. Xavier destroys everything because... well, i'm not sure why? Ymir totally betrays her own nature to be with Historia, which is really sad and probably will weight on her until the end of her short life. Historia will eventually be alone, after Ymir's passing. All of the scouts are dead. Paradyse becomes a fascist country anyway, but they don't have any enemy since everyone else is gone. Erwin probably gets executed eventually. it's just... yeah, pretty dark and bleak, and i find it sad that the only way for Ymir and Historia to be together is to follow this scenario.
but i still enjoy your videos, they are really well made and you truly knows how to construct a complex plot around different characters to keep us on our toes!!! i'll see you for a future video, thank you for all of your work! take care (and happy new year), byyyyyyyye!

Ymir alternative timeline is very depressing
I don't think Erwin would oppose the rumbling in these circumstances. For starters, it's important to understand that in this scenario that gabi didn't shoot eren so eren is a colossal Titan and there is no way to bring it down without a collosal titan, Erwin of all people would know that. He would still oppose the rumbling but would never form the alliance, especially if it means endangering his comrades,
That ending was just sad...
But the alliance shouldn't have been so stupid to try and stop the Rumbling sooo.........karma?????

What if Bertholdt Hoover survived the Paradis operation and Marley was still in control of the god of destruction (Colossal)? Or to ease the future pressure on Paradis what if they got Reiner instead of Bertholdt? As always I look forward to all your content.
While Xavier is your OC I do find it a bit unbelievable that he would want the rumbling to happen. He spent his entire life in Marley. Everyone he's ever known is about to get flattened. Additionally, as a restorationist he'd want to restore Eldia, not destroy what is left of it.
You are right about restorationist not wanting to support the rumbling. But Xavier is a unique case. He never cared about Eldia but for his own benefit and is resentful that the world robbed him of his life. He also resents himself for trying to be a hero and trying to save people. Xavier is similar to Zeke in that he believes the world is fundamentally broken. Xavier's support for Eren is something I never explained properly. Eren wasting a broken world is somewhat satisfying to Xavier plus Marley gets obliterated and Eldia is take over the empty land meaning his old life wasn't entirely wasted.
There's also the meta argument that I didn't want an OC character hard carrying the final battle.
