You don't need to wait til your birthday to do selfish projects. Stuff like this is gold! Edit: Artists and D&D nerds are a scary combination. If you're playing D&D and want some cool art and minis, you gotta pay for that shit and it adds up quick. If you're a professional artist playing D&D, you do it all yourself and make it the most epic thing ever. This might honestly be better than the current Critical Role setup.
Agreed, this is definitely super cool! The thing with youtube is that content creators need to do projects that gets a lot of views to get a decent profit = less freedom in doing what your want since niches and similar are less profitable. That means that content creators like Jazza simply can't afford to do this sort of stuff on a regular basis, especially since he has employees that rely on him (and with that the channel's content) to provide for their own families. That's why he feels like making videos like this about things he is really passionate about is "selfish" which I think is so sad🥺. So for everyone reading this, even if you're not a huge fan of some content creators more niche-videos, it can be a huge help to watch and like it anyways!😊
Over 3 years of being on TH-cam I’m finally cool to my kids now that my table setup appeared on your channel. Lol. Thanks for making me cool again Jazza. Also if you ever want a custom piece for Tabletop Time just say the word. Happy Birthday man!
It's sooooo good! Those clips of gameplay getting me so hype for what's to come. You guys are already amazing in your roleplay and the characters you create and thoughts you share in the world's created by you guys (/mainly Dave) - it's just insane that now we'll get to be more immersed with a tech upgrade! Hooray for Jazza birthday time spoiling us! 🎉 ~Gillzybean❤
I love Jazza's approach to building anything, its like watching someone baking a cake, he just plops and drops everything together. The camera format is pretty epic.
That turntable is brilliant! You or someone should sell kits with a turntable, 10 precut bare discs for selfdecorating and a backpack for easy travelling to game destinations 😊
I love what you all are creating, an interwoven network of talented nerds that have the power to create anything they want! Wishing you ALL the best moving forward.
All 3 builds looked great, but that last one, the cyberpunk setting, ugh, super awesome! (Currently playing cyberpunk 2077)...... also, DaVinci-Punk sounds awesome!
Every now and then, you just want to keep pushing that Like Button. Having grown up absolutely amazed by roleplaying games; occupying living rooms, basements, tents and even the great outdoors, I watch this with an equal mixture of envy and joy on your behalf. Can't wait for future adventures to unravel infront of our eyes. *two thumbs up*
I would die for a podcast/roundtable where we get Jazza and Matt Mercer geeking out over their love of Roleplaying, Voice Acting, Creating Stories, Building Terrain, and Drawing/Painting Characters and Minis. Quote: "Did We Just Become Best Friends?"
For your Lucha Verra project (which sounds awesome btw) just letting you know that stuff based on more da Vincian technology and Renaissance-era aesthetics is already an existing sub-genre of steampunk! It's called Clockpunk and it's super cool :)
Happy birthday, Jazza! There's just something so wonderful about creating, be it writing, music or art. So thanks for all the years of wonderful content. And, as a roleplaying fan myself, this video was a treat. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the future.
Cannot wait to see how you guys will use this fantastic new setup!! I love TTT and TTT Roleplay, in fact I've been catching up with the Ironspire campaign (I kinda forgot I still had a few videos to finish...oopsie...) and I'm hoping to see it being used for hopefully a season 2 but also the new great stories you guys will tell
Another very immersive D&D series I’ve seen here on youtube is son of a dungeon by corridor crew, they use cgi and green screen to put themself in the environment.
"About three waggles." *proceeds to violently shake hand back and forth like 20 times. It's okay, Jazza. Just do a couple of tutorials with Count Von Count and you'll be back to perfectly measuring things by eye in no time.❤
As a new creator dipping my toes in the world of RPG content creation, I know how much work goes into setting this stuff up and keeping it going. Your group are very lucky to have an amazingly talented and industrious guy like yourself to put this all together. I have enjoyed tons of your art videos for quite a few years now. I never realised you were a passionate RPG gamer too. The set-up looks incredible! Huge props Jazza!
I swear being an artist of some type, whether that be musical, literary, or visual and being a dnd fan is such a monstrous combo. You get selfish projects like this really show a lot passion and increase the immersion of it all. Well I day in Concept
Happy birthday, and I loved what you did as well. I would like to learn more about the computer programs and the equipment you used to change the backgrounds and more.
I've followed you from the beginning, but wow Jazza, look at you! You're making your dreams come true! You started with those cool drawings, and now you're this big creative guru. Never stop doing what you love, stay awesome ❤❤
Ooh Jazza, you made the ttrpg player in me cry with this project, it's really amazing, felt love and envy at the same time!! Happy birthday, you are breathtaking
Jazza, you are extremely creative. I look forward to seeing how you can draw and develop even more for your TTRPG Experiences, especially since the passion you have for artistry blooms from the screen. Your access to the tools for artwork give many something to aspire to own in their own workshops!
I know this wouldn't be efficient with smaller project, but did you guys ever consider doing a vtuber model for your characters? I mean you have a bunch of competent artists and editors on your team. I'm sure you'd able to make some for the main cast and it would add an extra dimension to your stories for the viewers.
This would be really cool! Great idea, I'd love to see that. Hopefully he sees this comment...I'm sure he's considered this before but maybe letting him know people would love to see it would help!
Hi jazza, thank you for everything you do. You have inspired me so much and I’ve been watching you since 2018. I’m now 15 and I’m so glad that I found your channel when I was 10. You are such an incredibly talented person THANK YOU JAZZAAAA
have you ever thought of 2D rigging the player characters so when they move, their characters move and react as they do? I think having a Live2D model would be so fun for that!
hey @Jazza you could put Magnetic sheeting on the bottom of the turn table "plates(?)," and if you do then you could tie terrain pieces and npc's to the "disks(?)" to be able to seamlessly change scenes without having to set up. The Magnetism would allow stability without worrying about difficulty of moving them when the time calls for it.
Fantastic setup, and I love that your favorite birthday thing _really_ always ends up giving _us_ , your viewers and followers, a better experience! But my final take away from this is, (apart from all the the electronics,) one doesn't have to spend thousands to have a great gaming table. Thriftstore turntable. Screwed on cupholders. I mean, you could score a simple old beat up fly-leaf table like that at a Goodwill for 10 or 20 bucks, add a little paint and modeling clay, a few well positioned hinges and screws, and you've got an amazing gaming table that's all your own. Thanks, Jazza, and happy birthday!
While I admittedly am not a huge fan of roleplay myself, I enjoy all the creativity behind it. Go ahead and be selfish sometimes Jazza. I love watching you be super enthusiastic about what you're working on more than the end result sometimes and that's perfectly alright with me. 😁👍 Happy birthday! 🎉🎈🎁🎂
So wild to have circled back around to watching Jazza. I used to watch your stuff all the time back in like 2016/2017 when it was all pencil and paper character drawings. I remember it being a big deal when you made a new studio space to experiment with new mediums. I barely even knew what DnD was back then, and now you're showing up in my recommended for DnD content because I'm prepping to DM my own first campaign soon. Small world
The terrain discs are really cool, but i personally find that you don't need realistic stuff to get better immersion. If you've seen the Dungeon Pizza videos, where people use a disc with three abstract zones on it, with scatter terrain, i find stuff like that to be really immersive because our brains naturally want to fill in the gaps. The more realistic you try to make something, the less willing most people's brains are to try stuff. So it either has to be quite abstract or incredibly perfect. The dimension 20 battle sets tend to be perfect. But that works for them because they only do combat with big set pieces. If you're doing combat on a smaller, more regular scale, you probably aren't putting that much effort into it. Anyway, long story short, i love the effort you're putting in, and you're making great stuff, but it's worth thinking about what immersion really means.
This is so impressive, imagine if Jazza took a dive into making 2D models and rigging them like VTuber models for the player characters! (idk if he's tried 2D model rigging already, I've missed some videos but that would just elevate the immersion on the stream end even further, and I think he'd love it especially since he's into animation too!)
This is super inspirational actually. Custom rpg tables always feel a little inaccessible without a big budget or A LOT of tools and space and I feel like the terrain disc and some of the small upgrades feel actually achievable for folks to do at home. Thanks for sharing such a good idea! Definitely inspired!!

I love how the turntable terrain idea has morphed from easy generic terrain to very complex. I first saw a turntable terrain with Professor Dungeon Master, and the idea was to simplify terrain setup.
I really love your videos, you try so many new things and start new projects. I also loved all the monster clay modeling projects but that one here is one of my favorite projects so far.❤
As he was building everything I was thinking that it was a lot of work for only a little bit of immersion, but boy oh boy was I wrong. After seeing it in action I can definitely say that is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Just subscribed to TTR. I am super excited to dive into these stories now. I look forward to the Renaissance Punk campaign. This is a better set up than Critical Role. I do like the CR table though.
This looks like so much fun! I wish I had a group that would be willing to hold a newbie's hand until I learned the ropes, but anytime I've visited the three stores around here that do onsite gaming the players give me side-eye as soon as I walk in, like I'm intruding. Oh well, maybe someday.
