Hopefully you can do more things together like this in the future.
I've been larping for over a decade off and on, and this is probably one of the best if not THE best introduction to a full immersion larp I've seen. It's truly a love letter to larping and the communities we build around them.

I’ll definitely be happy to teach and guide them! ~ Elanora, the Green (Ghyran) Mage who greeted you at the College with two other Mages and pointed out you could call your devices ‘Dwarven Devices’
This video was an emotional rollercoaster.. Mad Mage was wholesome.. and Duruk's funeral made me cry!! It was the best hour of my day watching this video..
Idk if this made anyone else cry, but when Jazza went to help his boy, and said “ my boy” it made me realize how far jazza has come and how beautiful of a moment that was to watch. Thank you for sharing your art your life and your adventures jazza.
As a US LARPER, and a long time Jazza fan, this is so wonderful! I would LOVE to be part of a LARP with a kid-friendly section! This LARP looks so incredible!
For a few years, we had a LARP that was kid friendly. It was small-ish (30-50 people) and it fell apart because life happens, but it was SO amazing. We are working to do it again. Actually, a lot of us parents have neurospicy children (autism and/or ADHD) and LARPing instantly clicked with them. Truth be told, almost all of us in the group are neurospicy, ourselves so it does make sense. We are trying to make our own LARP that's even simpler for the kids (AND newcomers!) to follow yet still has all the elements that makes LARP fun for all ages. It might be a difficult and time consuming undertaking, but if you know a lot of LARPers with kids, you could try and design your own in your community :)
Genuinely Jazza, that was one of the best videos of yours that I have seen and one of the most sincerest videos I have seen from any TH-camr showing a first timers introduction into the world of LARP.
I really liked how Jazza explained the freeness of a place like that letting people express themselves more because it feels very similar to social expectations in everyday life that I've thought of before growing up as a very unapologetically nerdy person and then in college when I realized I was queer, because in both situations when you realize you're already outside of the socially expectable, and if you're surrounded by similar outsiders, you feel a lot more free to just enjoy yourself and be genuine.
I did not expect to cry watching this but man what a beautiful experience and message. My brother used to larp a bit when he was younger and it always seemed so fun. But now I'm older I realize it's alot more than that. I have autism and feeling awkward or odd to other people has been such a big thing through out my life. So the phrase meaningful nonsense and this video really struck a chord with me. Thank you for making this and spreading this message! ❤
That was so touching about Duruk/Darren, you've done a wonderful thing in documenting it for everyone. Please start some art projects to chronicle the backstory of Jazzric and Steven! Perhaps a colouring book graphic novel? What about a collab with The Mad Mage's official artist? There are loads of things you can do - make Jazzric & Steven miniatures suitable for Tabletop Time, a diorama of singing for the rampaging rats, epic painting of the funeral of Duruk with special effects for a moving flame pyre, the magical bunny you brought for your daughter could be a starting point too - loads of stuff! And what I really want is a cheezy (yet super "serious") boy band video of an original ballad by The Noyz 😁
@@King_Zer1 What a super compliment! My goodness, thank you very much :). I've always had more ideas than I can convert into reality myself, so I figure giving them away might be a blessing to folk with more gumption than me, lol, and then everyone gets to enjoy stuff because it doesn't solely exist inside my noggin anymore, basically :).
@@joannelewis3062 omg, I think I found my twin! Lol, you're not alone with how you feel about having so many great ideas that you can articulate for others and not so much for yourself (I'm guilty of this) 😅

OH MY GOD I DO THIS HOLY SHIT!! Swordcraft and LARP as been a massive part of my life now and I'm so happy to see it get cool video!! This event (Quest is a massive undertaking especially for a new player, props to you for going and playing 🎉) there's weekly battles as well for those interested, very welcoming community with a variety of people and playstyles
I had been a constant part of this same community for near on a decade, and to see so many of the old heads now in such a piece of media has me grinning like a goober. The kids quest portion has always had a great place in my heart.
We loved watching you dip your toes into Swordcraft and LARP in general! If you ever want to make the Journey north to Helsreik's annual event we host ours in a medieval style village! (Victory village at Riverbend) which makes for a fun and unique experience if you want to continue to expand Jazzrick adventures :)
I love this! I understand the slight apprehension some had seeing the camera, but this truly shows how fun LARPing is. Thank You Jazza for showing this wonderful world and joining along.
I could not stop crying after the funeral. Being in such a loving and caring community and having to leave is a pain that never really goes away. Beautiful video. I hope you'll keep us updated through the years as you participate
I literally just met Darren this year at PAX, it was a bit of a surprise to see him just pop up here but I was glad he did and I'm sad to hear that he has to leave He may have been a demon lord I sacrificed my soul to when I met him, but he was still such a chill and fun person and really made me feel welcome when I was a bit nervous doing larp for the first time. He even taught me a magic trick! And now I've been inspired to continue learning and getting involved with larp Goodbye Daruk, and farewell Darren, I hope everything goes well in Singapore
Commenting for the algorithm, this is without question the best content Jazza has ever produced, please do this more! Edited to add, the fact you are a better parent than you are a content creator is wild, and thats meant as a compliment as you are one of the best content creators out there. Keep killing it dude
Love this so much!! What an awesome memory you made with MJ! He is so lucky to have such a cool dad! And not only that but a dad who wants to and prioritizes spending time with him. Dads like you help heal the world. Thank you for your art, thank you for this journey, thank you for being an example of an awesome parent (and Mrs. Jazza too!) I’m so happy you brought us along on your adventure!
Your video couldn't be a better advertisement for this particular camp but also an advertisement of what it brings to each individual. It also shows our disconnect as a society today by being tethered to technology, taking away the experience of just being free and adventurous. I hope young MJ enjoyed it too. These are memories with his dad and friends he will cherish forever. The kids section was truly unexpected. What one would think it just as you say, meaningful nonsense, turned out to be just that for them. Turning fun into a teaching moment. Cannot wait for next year's video. Benny is brilliantly fitting in too I see. And yes, your costumes are badass. Just a shame you didn't let them hear how beautiful that voice of yours really is.
This was my first time at a full Quest event as well (on the thursday I was the person in the blue shirt in the chair at OS&S) and I had an absolute blast! It was so awesome to see the perspective of another newer player and I'm so glad you all had a fantastic time! Also Parravon nerds, we're in a lot of those battle shots and other spots!!!!
Swedish larper here. Even though swedish larping is a bit different this was one of the best explanations and introductions to larp I´ve seen in a while. It IS a bunch of silly nonsense but it can also be really profound, challenging and developing. Thank you for spreading the word. Looking forward to see more of Jazrick and his son and their adventures.
Wow, great video. The best part is seeing how much it meant to the people in the video by reading their comments as well. I hope the orc got a great video edit of his own from you so he can remember it always.
hey! i dont usually comment but ive been watching you for years, i think this needs to become a yearly series because this was one of my favourite videos i think ive watched in a LONG time, not only of yours but others too. ive known LARP was a thing but i never really understood what it was like and how it worked so this really opened my eyes and was really informative. so thank you for educating us who dont know what its actually like and producing yet another great video! (but srsly pls make this an annual series)
Genuinely one of the most entertaining things I've ever watched. I have never once had the urge to delve into the LARP community. But seeing how committed everyone was, how meaningful and, well, genuine you and everyone was is honestly and truly inspiring. I have been personally watching your content for over a decade and the thing that drew me in initially, and the thing that kept me here when you were renovating your shed, getting the first studio going, hiring your first employee to help out, and the evolution of the channel has been your commitment to being genuine. You Jazza, are unapologetically You in this little corner of the internet that we get to experience. I am aware that I will never know the real you, as you only show a piece of yourself on here, but that piece has continued to inspire me every time I watch you find joy in your passions. I also know that you will in fact never know me, and even if, for whatever reason we do actually meet from across the world, I will never be able to convey how much you putting that piece of yourself online for random people to see really means. How much you have actually and legitimately changed my life. Much like the LARP experience you had, you change the lives of people in the world. Thank you
Not to be a weird stranger on the internet, but it is sincerely so beautiful to see you spending so much time with your son and encouraging him to embrace his hobbies, and showing him that it's okay to be enthusiastic about whatever makes him happy. I was genuinely emotional watching you guide MJ away from the fight and keeping him safe. This is something he's going to remember for the rest of his life- the cozy cloaks, the sexy Mad Madge pictures, making a mute monk happy, and his dad rubbing cow poop on his boots. You are creating such incredible memories for your family and it brings me so much joy to see it.
"he looks like a dead-y to me" made me laugh, i love that XD that and "i keep getting recruite by evil people" are one of my favorite quotes from this video. and i love the mad mage that was so fun too XD
Noyz is actually genius for a band name in this setting! Great idea. I actually would also be joining a bards guild or metal work like a fabricator's guild or alchemist guild but what a fun event! I love that you can earn currencies and coin and all that.
@@demigreen6495they bleeped out the first name, and we never hear the 2nd but the 3rd and the one they settled on was The Noyz, a play on Noise and The Boyz (the original boy band).
@@demigreen6495 it took some work, to find a word or term that Jazza might use, that sounded obscure and harmless, but fit the moment. It's awful luck it turned out to be what it was. My best guess would be... A boy band with girls in it, mishmashed, not a _birl_ band, but a ____ band. Completely innocuous if you didn't know, but it turned out, not one to shout in the middle of town 😲
@RevM-e9d are you saying "Goy"? It is literally a Yiddish word of the Jewish people that just means "non-Jewish". So a Christian would be called a Goy by a Jewish person. A Buddhist would be called a Goy by a Jewish person. To use a Yiddish word is not "anti-semitic".
LARP is a big hobby of mine and this video does an excellent job of showing off the experience. Thanks for showing such a genuine side to a niche hobby. I started bringing my eldest to LARP when she was 10, she's now 19 and it's one of our shared hobbies still.
This was absolutely amazing and it was great seeing you there. The MadMage was my guide that day and it was amazing. I can't wait till next year's Swordcraft Quest Praise the Noyze
What a wholesome video, as a creator of LARP events in my country and a regular visitor of LARP events I support this message. Amazing man! Keep it up, keep having fun!
I love how you dare to share this video. Knowing in won't be the most successful video. But because it is your passion!!! You are really inspiring! I always was thinking about joining an larp. And you helped me showing how fun it could be
Man, I did not expect to weep when I started this video. Excellent video. Beautiful tableau of these people who are now somewhat dear to me as well. Thank you for this.
Bro. The end there. As someone who has recently attended my first larp this summer it really got to me being able to relive that magic. Dude I cried my eyes out. Larp is the love of the game but more importantly the love of each other. Always remember this as the definition of play to lift. Thank you.
@@TarubXCI We could briefly hear that it started with a G and their next idea was Noyz, my guess is that it's the Jiddish word Goi or Gois, which makes sense since it also sounds like a mix of boys and guys. The word means non jews or Jews who dont uphold Jewish laws. The term is also misused by antisemitics in a derogatory way.
It was for sure "The Goyz". While goy is not inherently derogatory, it has been used as a slur against non-Jews for a very long time. More recently it's been co-opted by far right, and white nationalist groups ironically calling themselves "goy" or "goyim". Kinda sucks that they can't use what is meant to be a harmless word due to bad people misusing it. But honestly, "The Noyz" is SO much better a name!
A little while back I was looking for LARP videos and I wasn't finding too many good ones. This got recommended to me, and it was a great trip! Made me very happy. That's an amazing group there. I really hope you go again next year and give us some more of this troupe of amazing characters!
Really good notice, that it is nonsense but also a safe space to show emotions fully. I love these moments in larp when I can cry or show rage, things I am suppose to stop instantly in real world. Maybe this is what makes me getting back to larps over snd over again.
I loved every second of this video. The pure joy you and your son showed in every interaction was wonderful. The depth of feeling you pulled out of me during the funeral portion was astounding. You are truly an artist in every sense of the word.
It's been repeated often to me that the trouble with filming larp for commercials/promotion etc is that it can't really capture the full experience, it just looks silly and nerdy, and you have to be there to understand. But I think you did it, here. You captured it. The feeling, the point, the essence. Sure, questing and battles and political intrigue is super fun, but it's the evenings around the fire, and the moments of breaking character to share a laugh and the genuine connection you forge with people that keeps everyone coming back. 😊
Very much enjoyed this. Seeing in real time what it would be like to be at a LARP. And how welcoming everyone was. Meaningful Nonsense is a fantastic phrase! As an adult who used to enjoy dressing up as characters from the Harry Potter universe with my own costumes and accessories, this brought me joy to see other adults using their imaginations to experience that kind of immersion.
Meaningful nonsense is a wonderful turn of phrase. 😊 I'm so glad you had a great time at the event! Fun fact for you: The Divorce Case MadMage the Mad Mage was the judge at? That was Duruk and Colt (the drunk pirate) getting divorced, following the events of the Bachelork. A most scandalous situation: Colt had (allegedly) given Duruk a love potion so he could win the Bachelork! Gasp! Duruk's lawyers were a witch hunter (who is now the town magistrate) and Uncle Istefan (known Legitimate Businessman... who is actually not the character you sang to in the video: that was Ballard, an associate of Istefan). Colt's lawyer was... the Silent Monk!! He managed this role by having a sign with "objection!” written on it. Pretty sure there's a video of it floating around somewhere hahaha See ya next year 😁
This is such a precious vlog, Jazza. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing all the things that make Larp such an experience. I think I’ve been larping for almost 30 years. The last few years I’ve stepped away from it, but the stories are still part of my live..
While i could never do this (my anxiety would strike me dead) it's great to see you have so much fun. I have friends who are also into it and they tell great stories
honestly, just do it. Make a passive character like the silent monk. Something that lets you just hang out and be around the stuff that happens. You dont need to socialize if that's what causes anxiety, you can just be there. Go with one of your friends as their paige or squire, who's lost their tongue or voice or hearing or some other debuff that lets you take a back seat.
Trust me, when you're around everyone else, it vanishes. Lots of people get nervous or think they can't. But I promise, it worth trying out. I've gotten a whole family out of it and more than I could ever ask for.
As someone who runs a LARP. We are all anxious TILL we get there then you find it’s one of the safest spaces you have ever been in and you will make the best friends of your life
Jazza, thank you for sharing your LARP experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and your experience made me smile. I love all things magical, medieval or fantasy and enjoyed watching. I hope you make this a yearly series as I would love for you and your son to go back next year and continue your characters.
While I do not do that particular LARP, this is the reason I do any LARP. The joy you showed, the stories told, and the many people you meet. I am so excited and happy your were able to experience this, i hope for many more. And it is so wonderful that these peoplea stories will live on and have touched so many new people as well.

It was also really interesting to watch the good bye of a character having meet Darren at pax as the dark lord and pleaded my soul to his character and heard on the last day that he had retired his character because he was returning to Singapore.
I love this so much. Honestly, everything in the world feels like a bunch of nonsense - this is the one safe space where no one judges anyone. I just love it!
This was incredible. The kindness, the community, the passion and compassion. I feel like I've missed seeing these values irl, so knowing there is a brilliant community of incredible people coming together and connecting makes my (rather bereft) heart happy 💜

I'm not crying, you are.
Who's cutting onions ?
My eyes are sweaty is all
Yes, I am crying, why aren't you?
That rendition of Pink Pony Club touched me deeply :')
xd

I agree, a kid friendly section might make it easier on parents who LARP. Then we could include our children easier.
@@bunnyobelenus4633 I haven't been able to boffer larp since I had mine. I've done other LARP...but it's not the same.
There's one in Canada that's kiddo friendly it has a whole town
@@katherinefisher1340 OMG really?! Do you have the name?
Completely agree!
Summary:
Jazza stops making fantasy art and BECOMES the fantasy himself
Yes😂
I really liked how Jazza explained the freeness of a place like that letting people express themselves more because it feels very similar to social expectations in everyday life that I've thought of before growing up as a very unapologetically nerdy person and then in college when I realized I was queer, because in both situations when you realize you're already outside of the socially expectable, and if you're surrounded by similar outsiders, you feel a lot more free to just enjoy yourself and be genuine.
Jazza please never change. You're such a genuine soul & such a pleasure to watch. Hugs from Maryland, U.S.
As an English northerner, I gotta say your ‘Jazzrick’ voice is spot on 😂❤
It's driving me crazy because it sounds so much like a voice from a game and I can't quite pin which one it is 😂
Its just sean bean to be fair in anything hes in, he absolutely nails it lol @acedamace3501
We would lOVE to have you again!! Thabks so much for capturing our silly little game in such glory 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Jazza out there at his first larp with camp gear worthy of a 10 years veteran !
Thanks for such a great outlook on our hobby !
You my friend have great ideas and a Big imagination, Bravo! You'd be an amazing marketing partner for anyone that requires one.
All of this! Yes!!
Lol, you're not alone with how you feel about having so many great ideas that you can articulate for others and not so much for yourself (I'm guilty of this) 😅
I've not been doing very good of late and this gave me a much needed enjoyable hour of escapism. I really enjoy this video, thank you Jazza, MJ and everyone else involved in the creation of this. And I'm sending all my best for Darren.
That's why nonsense matters. We all need to escape now and then ❤️
OH MY GOD I DO THIS HOLY SHIT!!
Jazza seems to be good at embracing multiple different communities into his videos lately
From a long-time larper, thank you for this very genuine and emotionnal rendition of what a larp is
you seem like such a great dad keep it up your son is goin to remember this for the rest of his life
I love this!
This was delightful, unexpected and wholesome. Also shout out to the hurdy gurdy bard liam, hope life is good
Life *is* good! Always happy to hurdy the gurdy.
@@GiantEvilGods gurd to be hurd
I literally just met Darren this year at PAX, it was a bit of a surprise to see him just pop up here but I was glad he did and I'm sad to hear that he has to leave
He may have been a demon lord I sacrificed my soul to when I met him, but he was still such a chill and fun person and really made me feel welcome when I was a bit nervous doing larp for the first time. He even taught me a magic trick! And now I've been inspired to continue learning and getting involved with larp
Goodbye Daruk, and farewell Darren, I hope everything goes well in Singapore
I haven't cried in a very long time but Darren's story really got to me. Thank You
Commenting for the algorithm, this is without question the best content Jazza has ever produced, please do this more!
Edited to add, the fact you are a better parent than you are a content creator is wild, and thats meant as a compliment as you are one of the best content creators out there. Keep killing it dude
Couldn't agree more with this comment.
THIS
Love this so much!!
By far, my favorite of your videos. Thank you for the experience.
Can I ask how it differs?
I did NOT expect to gross cry watching this video! What a gorgeous and sincere expression of community and friendship 🖤
Im a larper from Switzerland and im so happy you tried your first larp and enjoyed it!
"he looks like a dead-y to me" made me laugh, i love that XD
that and "i keep getting recruite by evil people" are one of my favorite quotes from this video. and i love the mad mage that was so fun too XD
Noyz is actually genius for a band name in this setting! Great idea. I actually would also be joining a bards guild or metal work like a fabricator's guild or alchemist guild but what a fun event! I love that you can earn currencies and coin and all that.
What was the name? I thought it was bleeped out
@@demigreen6495they bleeped out the first name, and we never hear the 2nd but the 3rd and the one they settled on was The Noyz, a play on Noise and The Boyz (the original boy band).
@@RevM-e9d why don't you just say it?
LARP is a big hobby of mine and this video does an excellent job of showing off the experience. Thanks for showing such a genuine side to a niche hobby. I started bringing my eldest to LARP when she was 10, she's now 19 and it's one of our shared hobbies still.
Jazza love how you respected the event and people in this video….. it was a lovely heart touching one
I don't know how you do it, but once again, you've just re-upped on another year of being the most wholesome channel on TH-cam. Thank you, Jazza.
I love how you dare to share this video. Knowing in won't be the most successful video. But because it is your passion!!! You are really inspiring! I always was thinking about joining an larp. And you helped me showing how fun it could be
1:06:49 ahhh the picture in the back makes it sooo wholesome ❤
Man, I did not expect to weep when I started this video. Excellent video. Beautiful tableau of these people who are now somewhat dear to me as well. Thank you for this.
Bro. The end there. As someone who has recently attended my first larp this summer it really got to me being able to relive that magic. Dude I cried my eyes out. Larp is the love of the game but more importantly the love of each other. Always remember this as the definition of play to lift. Thank you.
Censoring boys band name somehow made it soud even more authentic for a medieval bards band.
Got any idea what they named it?
@@PsychedelicLasagna It is inherently derogatory, tbh.
@@DrJurdenPeterbergsteinlerwitz No, it's like the term "foreigner," there's no negative connotation, without the negative context attached.
A little while back I was looking for LARP videos and I wasn't finding too many good ones. This got recommended to me, and it was a great trip! Made me very happy. That's an amazing group there. I really hope you go again next year and give us some more of this troupe of amazing characters!
I wasn't expecting this to be so emotional! So touching to see the whole experience, thank you for sharing this world with us.
I'm so glad you had a great time at the event!
Fun fact for you:
The Divorce Case MadMage the Mad Mage was the judge at?
Pretty sure there's a video of it floating around somewhere hahaha
See ya next year 😁
This was not what I expected, but it was a really fun and a bit sad at the end. Thanks and I hope you make another video when you go back. ❤
Jazza, I hope you continue to go to Swordcraft every year. This looks like such a heartwarming and touching place and I'd love to watch more!
The Swordcraft Ballarat Chapter has a week long quest event in April that you should definitly visit as well! ⚔
While I do not do that particular LARP, this is the reason I do any LARP. The joy you showed, the stories told, and the many people you meet. I am so excited and happy your were able to experience this, i hope for many more. And it is so wonderful that these peoplea stories will live on and have touched so many new people as well.
I love seeing adults have fun in ways like this!! just because you've grown up doesn't mean you can't enjoy fun stuff like this!! :D
This is so badass that u are doin this!! My buddy asked me if id like to go larpin with him next year and this is a great intro for me!! 💙💙💙 thnx!! Im so stinkin excited
This was really great to watch as someone that is looking at going for the first time. It was also really interesting to watch the good bye of a character having meet Darren at pax as the dark lord and pleaded my soul to his character and heard on the last day that he had retired his character because he was returning to Singapore.
As the Archon from that same PAX hello! But yes 😭😭 next week will be his final week fielding and it's gonna be an emotional one for sure
I love this so much. Honestly, everything in the world feels like a bunch of nonsense - this is the one safe space where no one judges anyone. I just love it!
First of all, LOVE the Amy intro!
This was incredible. The kindness, the community, the passion and compassion. I feel like I've missed seeing these values irl, so knowing there is a brilliant community of incredible people coming together and connecting makes my (rather bereft) heart happy 💜
My favorite bardic tune...♪ PINK PONY CLUB!!♫🤣🤣🤣
this is one of the most beautiful videos you have made; it's so true to yourself and to your family. it's heartwarming, creative, and warm soup for the soul. thank you.
Ooh, I know of Biccoline, it's close to where I live! I recommend Brummelance for heavier emphasis on atmosphere.
I'm so happy to see you try out LARPing! If you do more of this, I'd love to hear more of your adventures!
Glad you had such a wonderful time! I play sca rather than larp, and there are big differences, but the emotions you describe, the atmosphere, and the way you were supported - that’s also my experience in the sca.
I loved this. I would love to visit some year, and hopefully will. I really hope you go back next year to further the crazy. 💜💜
Jazza, you are such a phenomenon sorry teller. Watching you encounter something new that seems like it would be such a good fit for you was charming. The way you connection and draw real meaning from 'silly nonsense' is so encouraging.
Thank you for this video Jazza. I have been feeling very sad lately and watching this video of you and your son having fun with fantasy and being fun and silly really helped cheer me up
I hope you can make more fun videos like this
This was unbelievably wholesome. Im so glad that these things exist in the world, and I will desperately be seeking one out
Thank you for making this video the way you did and sharing this wonderful adventure and fantastic world with us.
MORE! Please do this again next year!
