Nice to have you back!! For me this New Balance was the worst shoe I bought in 2023, I tried all type of running and I had to stop, I didn’t like it it was too soft
I ended up passing on Supercomp V2. V1 felt clunky and unstable to me. I’m REALLY looking forward to Rebel V4! I’m on my 5th pair of Rebel V3’s. They are my ultimate favorite shoe. Cause I need a wide 😁
For me, coming off a meniscus injury on 1 leg and ball of foot pain on the other foot, the SC V1 has been a God send. I've quickly racked up 265 miles in it as I progressed to 50/wk. Keeping all runs on a treadmill until knee strength builds, but have yet to experience any metatarsal pain. I attribute that to the grand canyon void and FuelCell goodness. Have seen it as low as 129 on sale. At that or 140 where it's @ now is a great value. If anyone suffers from ball of foot pain I give praise to the V1.
@@filiptomas3658 I wouldn't say cured but this is the first shoe I can go longer in without issues. I do use a metatarsal pad glued to insole that I move from shoe to shoe. The pad is right above the void in the midsole. Perfect not to have direct pressure there.
I'm using the Saucony Triumph 20 as my "maximalist" trainer these days and pull out the Saucony Kinvara Pro for longer faster runs. Later in my marathon training block I'll start inserting the Saucony Speed 3 and Atreyu Race Model.
QD: Asics Superblast. It does everything and does it well. I’ve just started putting miles in the Puma Magnify Nitro 2. I wouldn’t sleep on that shoe. Maybe not as fast, but it’s a comfortable ride.
I’ve been using V1 for 8 month so far. Did 950km and can still feel a little bit of pop but they are quite beat up. Overall I really enjoy them but switched to SuperBlasts
Awesome to see the shoe reviews come back. I love the other content but I love shoes too. Your input and reviews on shoes have been extremely valuable over the years
My go to max cushion is a pair of New Balance More V4 I got a little while ago for $90 at Dicks. I have a large stable of shoes including Brooks Glycerin 20s, Asics Gel Nimbus 25s, Endorphin speed and Pro 3s, NB Sc elite v3s, Vaporfly 2s and some trail shoes from Nike and Saucony and these More V4 are honestly my favorite shoe, obviously better shoes for different purposes but these are so good.
Closest thing left in my rotatyion that approaches maximalist is the Brooks HyperionMax. Love it for my long runs, the word that comes to mind in "Smooth".
For me, I’m trying to work up to my first marathon and do the vast majority of my miles in the Triumph 20 (which can be versatile but is a “maximalist” shoe I suppose)
Im enjoying this one. Have to land a bit further back to make the most of the stack though. For me, the forefoot bottoms out and and it just feels like im running on the the plate
I realized something while watching this review. Once credibility is lost it’s almost impossible to get it back. I’m always wondering what the ‘angle’ is.
My new year resolution: use Seth’s link to running warehouse when buying shoes. Love the passion, and good vibes you bring to runners all around the world!
QOD: Idk if it’s a maximalist but it’s close…..Saucony Endorphin Speed 3! Love this shoe so much I just purchased two more pairs when they went on sale.
I am still wearing my workhorse Ghost 14s Easy days and Speed v2s Workouts, for my road running. Salomon Ultra Glide v2 for Ultra distances. Why mess with a good thing? Happy 2024 DGR!
I can't believe you gave this shoe a 6.6 out of 10. IMO it's the best running shoe I've ever put on. What you rated the highest (weight) is what I believe is it's weakest point. If you're used to lightweight shoes like Takumi Sen Nine's then you do notice the SC V2 is quite heavy. That said, I'm a short, stocky, heavy guy with a bad knee. I'm only writing this comment to let people know if they're a little older or heavier, or don't run for a living, this shoe is a must-have.
You just have to ignore the actual scoring and just listen to the review part. He gives good insight but scoring is all over the place one thing I suggest just do away with IMO
My current go-to maximalist shoe is the adidas adizero prime x strung 2. It took me about two runs to grasp how to navigate the tall stack height, but once you settle into the shoe, it excels in so many ways. Be it an easy day, tempo run, track workout, or long run. Most importantly, it leaves your legs feeling fresh!
Hi Seth! I like how enthusiastic and unbiased your reviews are! I found the NB RC Elite 2 too soft for me. It was like trudging through mud. How does the SC Trainer 2 compare?
Great video Seth! Can’t wait to see what you think of the CloudEclipse I just got it for Christmas and have done a 15 mile long run in it. Really enjoyed it
I guess I don’t have a maximalist shoe in my rotation, currently have the Triumph 20 and Novablast 3 as my higher cushion shoes in the mix. I’ve had all three versions of the Novablast and I agree, the V1 midsole was the best, V2 is my preferred upper. V3 upper is a slight downgrade IMO from V2 but midsole is an improvement from V2 (but still not as good as V1)
Review scores are confusing for me. An 8 shouldn’t be an amazing shoe. Why not just say buy, try or why? This isn’t holding them accountable or anything like that.
Finally shoes review is back! Have been a bit lost in the purchase process in the last months and wasted so much time and money trying shoes out...your content really save money, time and injuries as well!
I absolutely love your channel SJD but as far as clicking the running warehouse links below. I believe people including myself would be more inclined to use those links if there was a small discount.
Go-to maximalist shoe in 2023 has been the SC Trainer v2. The forgiveness of the foam, significant forefoot rocker, and plate help me get through some of my double threshold days. Occasionally easy runs. Don't use them for long runs due to limited durability.
I'm watching on my 55" 4k Tv and noticed the phenomenal video quality instantly, I literally checked the video settings 10sec. in lol. Top notch production and great sound on the way for 2024, glad your back.👏🏾🫡
Nothing wrong with late reviews Seth! Perfect timing for when shoes are on discount!
Excellent!
Yeah dude, I almost exclusively buy “last year’s shoes”
smart man@@benbauer7866
Agree just got the v2 for $120
@@benbauer7866 that’s it, me too! If they were great last year, they’re still great now!

They are clunky like horse shoes
Welcome back! I know these videos may seem like you're not advancing the business, but they are helpful and enjoyable. Thank you! 👍

How did you cure the injury?
@@filiptomas3658 I wouldn't say cured but this is the first shoe I can go longer in without issues. I do use a metatarsal pad glued to insole that I move from shoe to shoe. The pad is right above the void in the midsole. Perfect not to have direct pressure there.

Seth doing shoe reviews again! Great Christmas gift.
Best shoe reviewer ever
Happy to comeback 😃
Welcome welcome back!
Purchased a pair of V2 at NB earlier today, $115 and change. It's the orange colored one, there are two discounts, nearly 40% off.
I love the v1 as it still is giving me cushioned rides were my v2 has flattened out already the foam is not working good at all after 150 miles
The GOAT Reviews are back!
Thanks Seth, always enjoy your reviews 🎉
For me, I’m trying to work up to my first marathon and do the vast majority of my miles in the Triumph 20 (which can be versatile but is a “maximalist” shoe I suppose)
GREAT choice Ben.

loved your channel before - and love still - thanks for all you do (the positivity, the energy, the clarity... all of it!!)
Stoked to see you are back to reviewing shoes! You were my default for new shoes. LFG!
I'm actually watching ur old review vids seth! Due to shoe discount, this is very helpful. Happy New Year from the Philippines!
Happy new year! And smart to check out the old reviews
QD: Triumph 20. Slows me down and babies the legs.
Thank God the reviews are back !! I've always found Seth's reviews to be the more accurate here on TH-cam.
Was tired of kofuzi being very biased
Great review! Glad to see you back doing shoe reviews in the shoedio!
Like riding a bike- welcome back Seth!
for me those are the KING for training, cushioned shoes ;)
Good choice!
Seth these have already gone on sale for $145 at most places! But good to see the reviews back
could you list these places for us? thanks!

Great to hear!
Shoe reviews are back?????? Yesssssss!
1) Asics SUPERBLAST!😊
2) Adidas PRIME X.
My new year resolution: use Seth’s link to running warehouse when buying shoes. Love the passion, and good vibes you bring to runners all around the world!
fav max shoes are nimbus 25 for recovery and superblast for long or tired workouts. I also have the sc trainer v2 for easy long runs
QOD: Idk if it’s a maximalist but it’s close…..Saucony Endorphin Speed 3! Love this shoe so much I just purchased two more pairs when they went on sale.
Nailed it! 🎯 I did not like the instability but I do enjoy the bounce at higher paces though for higher paces there are better options
Boom! Thanks for dropping a comment
Looking forward for more shoe reviews!
Hooray!
9:44 Could not agree more with Justin about the midsole of v1 with the upper of v2. That would’ve made a much better update IMO.
My go to max cushion shoe is the Nike Invincible 2. Nothing like Zoom X. Hoping this pair lasts until Nike fixes the heel lockdown in version 3.
QOD Been using the max cushion Kayano 30 as my recovery day shoe.
asics superblast lovit have a nice new year everybody

If you create a shoe, put a cushioning device in both the heel and forefoot like air bags or gel or very soft eva.

The NB beacon in baby blue.....long time ago 😊

Great videos! What running shoe has highest stack height? ideally also has a wide shoe option
Let’s goo!! QoD: for me it’s maximalist, the Nike Invincible Run 3. Comfy easy day workhorse in my shoe rotation.
QoD: For non plated shoes, my go to is the Puma Foreverun Nitro. For plated shoes, my go to is my (now retired from races) New Balance RC Elite v2.
Please review the asics superblast!
Like the new shirt. Making it to the store soon? :)

SuperBlast, then sc trainer V1, and when I want a leg strength run, the max road 6.
Nike Zoom Fly 5 at the moment.not to soft but good for long runs.
Fantastic video

the only maximalist shoe i use right now is the More v4. only really gets used for easy/long runs

Where do I find your chart of reviews?
I loved them but they were totally wrecked at 150 miles. No tread left. Felt dead. Was a disappointed given the price.
thank you for this report David!

Not a glowing review for the NB. It’s not a Nike Vaporfly 3 but it’s not $250.00 either.

Horrid shoe. Too big in all directions so your foot goes everywhere. Too soft, and plate positions you bent over….
