As a dressmaker who has repurposed beaded fabrics, may I suggest that another fabric be stitched to the center where you intend to create a neckline, then cut your scarf. The extra fabric can be shaped into a neckline, or draped behind the scarf as a facing. In addition I recommend extra side panels to be added for wearing ease, or even inter-line the whole scarf with a lining fabric. I have found that beaded fabrics cannot tolerate any stress, so you will want the dress to be roomy.
I agree totaly this is the correct way to go to preserve the beauty of the material , if you intend to make a dress of it . I would keep it as a showl. MAGNIFICENTS GIFTS .

Envisioning a sewing room to collect all the material, fringes, thread, sewing machines and mending with dressers, shelving, armoires, and art... I made my formal living room into a sewing, quilting, and reading room with lovely eastern morning light. Looking forward to new vlogs.
I have to agree. A sewing atelier with 2 workstations at least, and cutting/ironing table. It could be decorated beautifully! And house a small library of all the sewing books so far, maybe. My sister is a professional seamstress, mostly in theatrical costume shops; how fun would that be to help set up?
And I'm still waiting for them to get an embroidery machine - it was mentioned a few times in the past. One thing though - look into the pricing on the software, threads, and other supplies before getting one. It's very easy to get in way over your head cost wise on embroidery items! Ask me how I know - LOL

Yeah, same here. I was just going to comment this! I was in school around Atlanta, GA in the early 2000s. We used recycled paper bags too, and also fun colored paper with a similar texture that was royal red, blue and green too! We used to sign and doodle on each others covers. =D
We did as well here in Texas throughout the 80's & 90's. We would always turn ours inside out and write and draw all over ours & those of our friend's, especially in middle-school. Mine were mostly covered in rock band names, checks and dramatic teenage quotes, lol.

Exactly what I thought...it may need a sash to keep it wide open...Perhaps the full peacock in front...I LOVE the idea of it being a 20's dress...it's so pretty.
Oh Petra, if you are reading comments - I was particularly drawn to your gift -the sari materials, the clothes, and the beautiful scarf. All so lovely, but also your message rang true for me also. Sometimes we must let go of the old to be able to hold onto the new. I'm doing the same. Peace & Blessings to you!.
Jerry's quilt is called a "Rag Quilt." My friend Sandy Brawner is the designer. I've made several of these for picnic quilts out of old denim jeans and woven plaid fabrics.
Wonderful to read of your generosity for various charities and the scholarship is marvellous. Your LaLande family are familiar faces by now and you all fit together so well. I hope. I hope Michael Petherick is able to join you soon.
Yes, rag quilt. And the raw edges are typically the "right" side of the quilt. I will caution you to wash & dry it by itself the first few times - it will continue to fray, and will produce quite a bit of lint. Which adds to the softness of the raw edges. I've made several of these and love them, especially when made out of flannel.
Most schools in england expected pupils to cover books ,especially school text books. My years in senior school my books were covered in xmas paper, wallpaper brown paper or birthday paper.
Me too! Plain brown paper or left over wallpaper when I was a small child in Ireland in the ‘60s, then all sorts of wonderful crazy papers when I was a teenager in Brussels. Must have been the same in Holland for Selmar and Philip. You picked a ‘theme’ and covered all of your books and espired to owning the matching pencil cases etc.
I try prefer to watch your videos before bedtime. They are always so happy, upbeat, and positive. But I think Selmar had the best time of anyone! Can’t wait for the next one! Debbie from Delaware
For the scarf dress: purchase coordinating fabric, in silk/rayon velvet or georgette or crepe, including one sheer. Sew a 1920s design, which usually includes sheer layers/overdress, and use the scarf as front and back panels of the overdress. Alternatively, if the pattern or designs calls for no sheer overdress or layer, appliqué the peacock design and flowers directly onto the front and back panels of the main fabric of the dress! I don’t think the scarf itself has enough fabric for a 1920s style dress!
I was thinking the same thing! The word “tabard” came to mind! The scarf would be hanging panels over a slip type dress. Perfect fabrics that you suggested also. 🌸🇦🇺
Fergus Ontario is a beautiful little town and the Scottish Festival and Highland games are amazing! You could put a second fabric underneath that peacock scarf for that flapper dress. A colour of fabric that will show off the peacock, perhaps a beautiful purple or teal might look spectacular.
Yes, I responded to the other listener that it was in Ontario Canada. I live in Toronto and have been to Fergus on day trips, lovely. Nice to see someone visiting from Canada and wish I could i we weren’t in another severe lockdown.

Kia ora Stephanie, the crocheted towel is a hand towel that as you say you can hang. I have grown up with these in Australia and New Zealand, my Mother always had these hanging in her kitchen near the sink (as do I now) where you can use it to wipe your hands leaving the teatowel only for your dishes. You can hang them from cupboard handles or an oven door handle. They are found normally in local markets by wonderful women that love to crochet or knit. What fun you have been introduced to the infamous crocheted hanging hand towel.
Kia ora Kelly, my Nana used to make them too! I just wish somebody around here (Far North) made some, they're the best hand towels! I haven't seen one for years! Maybe it's a Kiwi/Aussie thing?
@@karenreeves856 Kia ora Karen, yes they are hard to find I must admit. I have one left as eventually, they reach their use-by date and then have their use as rags. I use to find them in small-town markets around the south island, there were always stalls selling homemade items. I now live in the north island and am yet to find some. I will always be on the lookout as I miss having a bunch of them to use.
@@debrafreake4759 Hello Debra, oh that is wonderful you have them as well. Hope you can find them more often than I can. Hard to locate as they are really only bought from small-town markets. Perhaps some home-stores do sell them I just haven't seen any.
A peacock shawl. It's gorgeous! As always, thoughtful gifts from admirers of your lifestyle. You are surely the most appreciative receiver of gifts. Heart warming to watch. Selmar loving your idea to cut the skirt short, he turned red and I was laughing here in Illinois, all by myself. What a group!
Another great Cadeaux at the Chateau... that I started watching at breakfast! The silk fabrics were divine and as always Philip looked very stylish, this time in his Gran's jacket, it's a perfect length. Way back when... I had a lovely 'day dress' that had been my Great Gran's - in a small floral print on beautiful silk crepe de chine, she passed away in 1950, the year before I was born so I never got to meet her and when my Grandmother gave it to me in the late 60's I decided to wear it, I still remember how wonderful the fabric was as it swished around my legs. I don't have a photo of me in the dress but I do have one of her.... Thank you, for bring back the memory today... 🏰🦘
Hi, my mum as do I now, had them, very popular with older Australians, I wonder how they came about, I thought it must of been an English thing, but now I doubt that, maybe started by a knitters circle ?? My mum was a beautiful knitter, never made those however, she bought them.
Stephanie, you bring pleasure in what you present at the Château. I absolutely am a dedicated fan. What a wonderful appreciation you have for each gift. Love it!
Another happy video. I think the peacock shawl would look stunning on you as it is Stephanie, with a black evening dress 🦚 Thank you for the love & laughter 💕
OMG Steve. I spent every summer in Kincardine at the family cottage. Every Friday night a bagpiper playing on top of the lighthouse and every Saturday night the bagpipe bands marching in the parade down the main street. The best lake/beach sunset in the world in my opinion.
That’s not a tea towel Stephanie, it’s a hand towel ! The crocheted part it used to hang on a door knob to wipe one’s hands on rather than a tea towel 😁 They are a probably a bit ‘Nana’ for many ppl but extremely sensible and useful.
Another wonderful Cadeaux at the Chateau, Thank You Very Much!!! for carrying on with these joyful events. Such beauty and inspiration being shared by all of us Lander's. This is why I love these vlogs so much as it is the time for all of us to share and connect with each other as well as those present. I love to see the all the emotions being expressed in the gifts being sent.
If, after the swan gets fixed, it isn’t “chateau worthy” (not a clean break, etc) it would make an adorable planter out on the greenhouse or hiding somewhere in the garden. There’s always another way to reuse, recycle or upcycle
I just started watching this video. We have many of the dishtowels with the crochet on them to hang them off the stove! Very Midwestern USA thing. Reminds me of my Mother!
Loving the sari fabrics. Many years ago I was able to buy a couple and a friend turned them into false wrapover skirts and tops. One was to wear at a summer wedding. I then took them both to wear on my first visit to Egypt. They were ideal for wearing in an evening especially on the Nile. cruise.
Beautiful gifts. I love watching you all opening and enjoying those beautiful gifts. Stephanie the joy on your face and the happiness and delight that your follower Lalanders demonstrate at each gift opening is so heart warming. It brings joy to my heart. 💞💖💞
Your viewers have sent you some extraordinary gifts. Please do not hang the Geisha plate by the metal hanger. Overtime those dig in to the porcelain and ruin the plate. Just a heads up in case you weren't aware Stephanie I truly hope you are feeling better... don't push it.
@@BlackDino468 I wish I could answer that for you. I don't know if the rubber protection is enough or not. If the plates mean anything to you I would display it in another way. A plate easel or under glass in a frame. Good luck to you and I wish I could have helped more.
I’ve also heard it can cause your plates crackle. I absolutely love the vertical 3 and 4 tier plate hangers that you can use to display finer pieces on. Thank you for sharing this advice.
So incredibly entertaining. Loved this Cadeaux. The fabrics are splendid. What colors, so brilliant. I was imagining the Bridgerton waistcoats and dresses. Perfect. Philip you rocked your jacket! All the best to you all! Xx
In the US we covered our books too! It became an extension of your personality depending on the patterns of paper you used. Many of us.....way back in the 80’s just used plain paper lunch bags then we could draw pictures and designs on our books!
What a wonderful gift opening it just makes my day back in Minnesota dreary raining snowing still hope we get better weather soon thank you so much for your wonderful video.
Beautiful fabrics and things today. I’m by the Cipriani on 42nd all the time. Before our NYC lockdown last March I stopped there for crustless tea sandwiches for my then 1 and 2 yr old grands. Hopefully I can try their Bellini soon. I assume they are closed since so much is around Grand Central right now. I was sitting here anxious about my daughter and her Italian husband and 2 toddlers flying to Italy in 2 weeks to see his mother in Bologna. She lost her husband last March from what we assume was Covid and she was supposed to come here in late Feb but the new Quarantine in Italy messed that up. I know Stephanie misses her mother and has a similar situation. Thanks for the entertainment and connection to others around the world.
I think it would look good as a tunic of sort ,over top...As an older dress designer. Designer of a lot of other things now. love watching gift opening.makes me happy watching happy faces..ooohh la la that Purple and Red,,,Ssooo ROYALS
I could pop over to help wrapping the saris :D and bring 4-5 more so every woman can have one! I would looooooove a sari party! There aren't enough occasions to wear saris for sure!
The beautiful peacock black beaded scarf would be great made into an over tunic, 1920's style, with a black, or teal, or gold sheath dress underneath. That way it will be floaty too, and if it droops a bit, it can be attached at hip and bust level with black, or teal, or gold fabric bars from front to back. The front and back of it would look best not attached, as that would be too much really. Just a thought. I am sure you and Phillip will come up with La Lande Couture with this piece.
In the 60’s, we here had to cover our school books. It was always k-os in our family of 8. We all had to return to school the next day with our books covered. My poor mother!❤️🇨🇦

They are also handcrafted and well used here in Newfoundland, Canada, also, Kelly. 😁 They are very useful in the Kitchen, aren’t they?
Kia Ora too flash for our whare, Mum knitted, I will go on a hunt for hand towels
The fabric would be lovely as table cloths and cover with glass to keep them pristine ❤️
And right off, I want to thank the fellow Minnesotan who sent the crocheted kitchen towel. My mom made hundreds. ❤️
I was so excited to hear of another Minnesotan watching this channel!
Hi, my mum as do I now, had them, very popular with older Australians, I wonder how they came about, I thought it must of been an English thing, but now I doubt that, maybe started by a knitters circle ?? My mum was a beautiful knitter, never made those however, she bought them.
Hi Kate Repko. Oh yeah, I’m a big follower of LaLande. Stephanie and her friends and family have captivated me. Stay safe and be well! ❤️
I'm from Ontario , Canada and my aunt has been making these kind of hand towels forever, so fun that this connects so many people everywhere!
I am from Michigan. One is hanging in the kitchen right now!
How red the boys faces got when Selmar made a saucy comment! Too funny!
Why did he move the quilt? He looked like he thought the tea towels were something else.
Those pillows are gorgeous
Hello, I love the fabric so pretty, what a lovely colorful show today. Pretty, pretty, pretty.
Those beautiful saris would look stunning draped along the terrace pergoda with lanterns for a Summer party.
I agree, or just worn as saris
Selmar, on fire today!
I have noticed that Stephanie has taken to saying "Right?" just like Philip does
Stephanie, you bring pleasure in what you present at the Château. I absolutely am a dedicated fan. What a wonderful appreciation you have for each gift. Love it!
Another happy video. I think the peacock shawl would look stunning on you as it is Stephanie, with a black evening dress 🦚
Thank you for the love & laughter 💕
Yay! Another vlog with our friends!! Best shows on youtube!! 🇨🇦❤️
OMG again what fabulous thoughtful gifts.......your fans are totalling amazing......................Donna in Toronto
I love the rag quilt for Gerald! They are quite warm.
Scotman man doll is so cute
OMG Steve. I spent every summer in Kincardine at the family cottage. Every Friday night a bagpiper playing on top of the lighthouse and every Saturday night the bagpipe bands marching in the parade down the main street. The best lake/beach sunset in the world in my opinion.
They are indeed. It was a great town to grow up in.
No, in Ireland we had to cover all our copy books in paper. It was one of the rules.
Totally worth the pause. The men were great. A delight as always. Blessings.
That’s not a tea towel Stephanie, it’s a hand towel ! The crocheted part it used to hang on a door knob to wipe one’s hands on rather than a tea towel 😁 They are a probably a bit ‘Nana’ for many ppl but extremely sensible and useful.
I use mine on the oven as its directly behind sink and that's where I dry my hands vs using paper towels👍
@@deesa3500 me too
You are absolutely correct! It’s a hand towel for the kitchen. I attach mine to the handle of my oven for drying my hands.
Yes l use them a lot in the kitchen in the bathroom just to wipe hands , l live in Australia .
I seem to wake up in the middle of the night often and savor this Chanel during these times very uplifting and beautiful thank you ☺️
Another wonderful Cadeaux at the Chateau, Thank You Very Much!!! for carrying on with these joyful events. Such beauty and inspiration being shared by all of us Lander's. This is why I love these vlogs so much as it is the time for all of us to share and connect with each other as well as those present. I love to see the all the emotions being expressed in the gifts being sent.
Selmar and Diesel, I'm your number one fan.
LOL... the men drooling over the fabric....priceless! Philips hair just stunning today....so nice to see Selmar :)
Beautiful quilt
Oh the memories! I haven't heard that song in ages
Love to the adorable angel puppy, Diesel. 💗
I agree and so nice to see Diesel’s hair trimmed and he can see now. I hope he kept trimmed, looks so lovely and happy in his new coat.
@@darlenechandler2403 He likely leaves it longer in winter to keep him warm
If, after the swan gets fixed, it isn’t “chateau worthy” (not a clean break, etc) it would make an adorable planter out on the greenhouse or hiding somewhere in the garden. There’s always another way to reuse, recycle or upcycle
I love that idea!
The broken St. Joseph was chapel worthy so I have no doubt it will find pride of place and look beautiful!
Just a heads up in case you weren't aware
Stephanie I truly hope you are feeling better... don't push it.
Xx
I am unbelievably happy to see a package from Minnesota 🥰
In the US we covered our books too! It became an extension of your personality depending on the patterns of paper you used. Many of us.....way back in the 80’s just used plain paper lunch bags then we could draw pictures and designs on our books!
What a wonderful gift opening it just makes my day back in Minnesota dreary raining snowing still hope we get better weather soon thank you so much for your wonderful video.
We had to cover our books at school. We used wall paper and all kinds of paper.
So much fun and laughter tonight, and so many lovely gifts. Philip you rock in your jacket lol .
That small towel with the crochet top in australia we use them as hand towels
Such Beautiful fabric 😍😍😍😍💞 Takes your breath away
We covered our school books too in Massachusetts! Everyone looks so nice, especially the two men in their jackets 😍
@Chateau Unwrapped you have the most beautiful loving viewers ,I got goosebumps listening letters the poems just heartwarming 💜💜💜
Wrappe on a frame behind a bed head . It would look spectacular and change totaly a room
Wow!! The gifts continue to astound me!! Those fabrics are stunning!!
And love the teasing and laughter of you all!!
I watched the vlog of Selmars when Diesal had his hair cut! So cute!
I had to cover my school text books in Uk in the 70s. This saved the original covers from getting duffed up.
This is the very best programme I have even seen on TV!
This isn't tv
Can you imagine wallpaper like the paintings on the planner books ? Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing your laughter with us!!!😄 Its contagious... in a wonderful way❤
All of you are so kind . . . and you crack me up 😂 🤣🥰😂🤣
My mother has made crochet tea towels for gifts for years. They are incredibly useful and beautiful.
Thank you for bringing my youth to remember, 80' and Milli Vanilli ! You make me happy everytime in every ways !
We covered our books in New Brunswick, Canada. Happy to see Canada in the house!!!
Diesel you are so handsome!
What beautiful gifts......its like Aladdin's cave!!!!.....loved watching, and seeing all the smiling faces and fun laughter!!
Wow Steve lives close to me and I am of Scottish English descent . There are a lot of English, Scottish place names in Canada.
Yes, and close to me too, nice to see someone visiting from Canada, inspires us all to take a trip once lockdown is over.
In the 60’s, we here had to cover our school books. It was always k-os in our family of 8. We all had to return to school the next day with our books covered. My poor mother!❤️🇨🇦
We still have to do it in South Africa
Selmar’s suggestions for man blouses cracked me up!! I laughed till my tummy hurt 😂😂😂😂
When I was at primary school, we all had our schools books covered in paper. Glad to hear we weren't the only ones!
I'm from UK I'm 52 years old and we had to cover our school books too most schools use to cover there books in paper too
Us too in France! When I was a teenager (my rebellious phase! 😂) I covered my books with newspaper, obviously not appreciated by the school!
My children who are in their thirties also had to cover their books.
In Scotland too, in the 50s and 60s--but only in plain brown wrapping paper.
Here in rural Ontario, Canada as well
In South Africa we still cover our school books.
