Newport NK180 PRO FULL Review! Is It THE BEST Kayak Motor?

- Install and walkthroughs are complete so now it's time to MAX THIS THING OUT! We had a TON of fun putting the NK 180 Pro through it's paces. When paired with the Crescent LTII kayak this is a fishing machine...no, this is a racing kayak. Fast, nimble and quiet with an insane amount of battery life. When you add in foot pedal steering this is a largemouth bass' worst nightmare.

What are your thoughts on the nk180 pro?
I have a BOTE Rackham Aero Apex PD Inflatable Paddle Board, and mounting the Newport NK180PRO to it has absolutely changed my life.
The pedal drive is horribly inefficient, and paddling is less than ideal.
I was going to get the Bixpy K-1 PP-768 Pro Angler Motor Kit, but having to use a proprietary battery is a real turn-off to me.
I couldn't be happier with the NK180PRO ❤
I imagine it’s great. I have the nk300 on my 75# pelican catch 100. Im Glad Newport exists and makes affordable brushless motors that are great when compared to others even surpassing them in some areas. Although the features are great on the batteries , I love that a Newport battery is not required and got a 55ah 36v battery from li time for half the price and more capacity when compared.
have one on the way for my LT2! cant wait
I’m headed up to waterdog tomorrow get me a shoalie, super excited. Gonna get her a maiden voyage Sunday if all goes to plan.
Nice!
move the steering cables in on the steering arm m8 (closer to motor) . my 14 foot bluesky can spin circles in place. also i used some shock cord attached to each steering pedal to help return them to center.
Couple awesome rigs you fellas have! Thinking I may sort of combine the two with a lighter Bonafide PWR 129, but still go bow mount! Also, is that a 9 inch or 10 inch garmin? Looks like the right size.
Paul runs the 10 inch on his Crescent. I have a 9 on the Titan X... Backwards I know Lol
Jeff has the 9, I've got the 10"
Awesome!! Seriously considering this for my SS 127. What is so special about the Newport battery? I’m seeing similarly specced batteries for a fraction of the cost. Is it that special?
Not really, just a high quality efficient battery.
I have the Titan X 12.5, I’m trying to figure out if I will have enough power with the NK 180 Pro or do I need the NK 300?
Id go 300!
Thanks for the review on this boys. We just got them in stock at our kayak shop here in Estero florida. However I still haven't had a chance to play with them. After watching your video I'm making it a point to do so soon. LOL see you boys at icast
🙌
I like it but the haswing protruar modified is just about the same speed for about 5-600 including battery and a brushless motor throttle.
@@aaanglers Hey boys, So my boss man here at Estero River Outfitters finally threw one of these motors on one of our kayaks and he found that the turning radius via the foot pedals was lacking. He ended installing a steering tilt tube which improved the turning radius drastically. What are you thoughts on the steering as you have it set up?
Which one do you think is better for OT PDL (I have 120); Bixpy or Newport? Also, 180Pro or 300?
I'd go Newport, probably the 180 pro but the 300 has more power (and a bigger more expensive battery)
Nk180 pro
Plastic boats make a lot of noise, keeps you away from the Apex you seek.
Every boat makes noise. Inflatables might be most quiet. Contrary to what everyones Dad said growing up, you don’t need to worry that much about sound. If they see you, that is a bigger issue. I’ve never heard this argument against kayaks.
Fish at night you’ll do better
