My great grandmother had it and gave it to my parents and I. It was only out of tune by a half step, so it sounded in tune until you played it with other instruments since it was in tune with itself. It’s a beautiful piano and I treasure it dearly. My great grandparents brought it over from Germany after WWII.
My dad shipped his childhood piano to our home a few years ago. at first it was still holding up, but no one knew how to play the piano in our family. So for years, it was untouched. Over the pandemic i started playing on the piano, not as much as bothering to actually learn it, until the pandemic. We noticed the keys were waay out of tune and some barely even made a noise. We couldn't bring in someone to tune it until covid restrictions loosened. It was last year when we finally got in someone to tune. He was clearly an old man, of course from the same company as our piano. For about an hour or two we helped in cleaning and scrubbing keys before he started tuning. It was barely half an hour unti the piano was tuned and working awesomely, then he started playing I know nothing about the ins and outs of the piano and playing it, but i never expected a tuner/cleaner to be able to play the piano. That man completely changed my view on their profession. He played classical pieces im quite familliar with and even songs my family requested. My brother and his wife came to drop by while he was playing. So the whole family was just there hanging around while he finally brought life back to our piano, about an extra hour. He was great at the piano. He actually couldnt speak tha well of english and spoke a different dialect, but the moment he played those keys the whole mood changed. Our house is quite big and spacious especially where the piano was,the only thing you could hear was the piano being played. Man got a great tip and a big smile on his face. He said that it was rare to be asked to an encore! Great christmas.

Bluegrass musicians, specifically the banjo, use a special tuning key that drops the tuning to an amount, it's kinda like using a Floyd Rose tremolo to drop and raise the note with 1/4 turn back and forth at a whim.

i just realized are most of wooden part made of processed wood called medium density fibre (MDF), not entirely crafted from solid wood? I recognized here most of inner lids has no wood grains and finishes, looked similar to certain furniture made today. MDF in industrial aspect are easy to fabricate but has weakness to humidity and temperature than solid wood which used in old/antiques pianos. so consequently modern piano need to maintain regularly.
To be honest, I actually like the out of tune version of Golden Hour! It seems sad, nostalgic, and wound healing at the same time. I need a full version!!
Honestly loved it! The imperfection in it gives the song and it's meaning an endearing quality, like the admiration felt for the person encapsulates all the things someone might want to hide. Meanwhile there's something sad about it, as if the love is unrequited, perhaps also due to imperfections. I don't say this often, but I'm shook.
That before and after was by far the most beautiful thing I've seen and heard. The way how the piano sounded like a dying memory, absent of any hope as it seemed to stray further into the abyss until an angel arrived to reach into the gunk of this void, pulling the piano out and cleansing it back to full health, and upon being restored, it plays clean and strong just as if it were reborn...
The best way to describe an out of tune piano is nostalgic and the more out of tune it is the more it amplifies the sadness of it but no matter how out of tune the piano is there is some form of beauty still left in it

To be honest, I actually like the out of tune version of Golden Hour! It seems sad, nostalgic, and wound healing at the same time. I need a full version!!
Honestly loved it! The imperfection in it gives the song and it's meaning an endearing quality, like the admiration felt for the person encapsulates all the things someone might want to hide. Meanwhile there's something sad about it, as if the love is unrequited, perhaps also due to imperfections. I don't say this often, but I'm shook.

That before and after was by far the most beautiful thing I've seen and heard. The way how the piano sounded like a dying memory, absent of any hope as it seemed to stray further into the abyss until an angel arrived to reach into the gunk of this void, pulling the piano out and cleansing it back to full health, and upon being restored, it plays clean and strong just as if it were reborn...

The best way to describe an out of tune piano is nostalgic and the more out of tune it is the more it amplifies the sadness of it but no matter how out of tune the piano is there is some form of beauty still left in it
I kinda like the way an untuned piano sounds like it reminds me of horror games or something gracefully creepy.
