Justin Y. That’s because Studio Ghibli OSTs resonate a specific calming effect imo. Anyway. A wild adaptation might or might not be cool but it would tarnish one of the things that makes SG OSTs ambrosial.
Animenz, I want to take this opportunity to thank you ! I am a pianist myself, but before I discovered your Channel 2 years ago, I was rather lazy at practice and I never made any real progress. Playing the Piano was fun, but I was never motivated in becoming better. I‘d rather sit in Front of my screen and start playing video games or watching Animes than playing some random classical piece over and over again. This was until I discovered you and your Anime-arrangements. The Idea of combining my Hobby (watching Animes) with Piano was fascinating! Your arrangements were beautiful and also not that easy to play, which is why I had to improve my skills in order to Play them. Because of you I found a new purpose in practicing. And today, playing the Piano is my favourite Hobby and I strive to become as good as you. So thank you for inspiring me and I really look forward for your future arrangements! Keep doing what you are doing !
Fun fact: the exact samething happened to me. I even asked my parents to continue my piano lessons in my city's conservatory, but I stopped because I didn't work enough, I couldn't deal with both school and piano (and guitar). Now, I keep practising everyday on my own to improve as much as I can. Thanks Animenz for giving us motivation!
lol, I can relate to this as I was just a lazy ass that only really put in half the effort into my practice. After seeing Animenz and Theisther I kinda had a change of heart towards the piano. I stopped seeing it as something that took away my gaming or anime watching time and saw it as something that can further my love for the medium. An absolute inspiration in my case and I'm sure for many other musician out there who've seen his work.
Same with me. I've been playing for a few years and I know I can be way better than I am, but I guess I'm too lazy. But seeing how far you can go with playing the piano really motivates me to do better.
A mix of fancy and simple is best. Some of these anime cover types try getting super fancy and ruin the piece. Often taking the sound and making it sound like mud.
The soundtrack, the artwork...a perfect rendering of the wonders of youth, how children see the world and their limitless imagination. The flamboyant colors of the artwork and the innocent playfulness of the soundtracks....all of it is mesmerizing. Studio Ghibli and the composers made a wonderful world as seen/felt by children, while showing daily struggles, but the strong emotions and relationships make it all worthwhile.
He has already been teaching in a city of Germany. I tried to visit him once but sadly he wasn't there that day and my whole journey was kinda wasted 😢😂

Thinking about the future withou Ghibli beautiful films and adventure makes me fall apart.....their songs are so magical, flawless...! I just wish i could keep dreaming about them in my own imagination. GHIBLI NEVER DIES!!!
I am so happy you included The Wind Rises in your medley! It is one of my favorite Ghibli stories, but you don’t hear it very often. Thank you for this beautiful arrangement!
Wow, I’m speechless! I watched every studio ghibli movie when I was a little girl and now I started rewatching them, because they were such a big part of my childhood. Those songs touch my heart and I had lots of tears in my eyes. Everything is just beautiful and I enjoyed every second. Thank you for this masterpiece.
To be able to improvise that long with such accuracy is already commendable, but to be able to play with so many subtle details yet still manage to maintain the sentimentality of the song with little to no practice is another level entirely. You are truly godly.
The castle in the sky was the first animation movie I ever watch in my memories, even before Disney movies, and he’s still my favorite it’s give my goosebumps
This is gorgeous. It filled me with such a sense of nostalgia and joy. I love your arrangements so much- they’re complex without being cluttered, and they always capture the mood of the piece and send me to someplace else... someplace better. Thank you so much.
This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. That score is every bit as great as anything John Williams has ever done. I am so proud to be involved in any way to this movie. I do the English voice of King Jihl in the film. It's a small part but it became my introduction to Miyazaki. This music is so soothing and just puts the evils of the world on hold while it plays.
