I read about the quality of Mobil 1 on an enthusiast forum many years ago and was convinced of it’s superiority. I’ve run it in almost anything with an engine and thus far have had no oil related issues so you probably made the right choice there. Getting the 0w whatever is important to modern engines if they specify it. Life was simpler when you could just choose between two types! I don’t own this car but was intrigued to see the engineering of its engine. You’ve done a great job of showing me more than any typical review focused on the driving experience. Thanks!
Just wondering. You put the oil filter on and added oil. Shouldn't you add a little extra oil to fill oil filter? Which I'm thinking 3 quarts even should fit?
Good question. I believe when the manufacturer states oil capacity- the volume of the oil filter is also included in that figure. Most engines oil pans do have a "buffer" of sorts to allow room for the oil to expand when it is up to temperature. For the i3 specifically would adding 3 qts even hurt? Not sure.
Hi! Sory fo bad english. First is a open Oil filler neck. Second is a Pull out the dipstick. Then unscrew the oil under the engine drain the oils P. S. 3L minus 2,6L = 0,4L
Hard to tell from the video but the drain plug washer looked more like a steel flat washer than a "normal" copper one with a crushable ring embedded in it. Is this true or was it just the camera angle ?
@@EcoBelkin I would recommend ethanol free gasoline for the Rex. Other than thatit should be fine. I have my I3 codded to HSOC under 75%, so the fuel in my Rex tank gets used every 3-4 months. A little bit of Sta-Bil would not hurt if your I3 is not coded and you don't get into using the Rex, but only a little is needed.

The scratches and indentation on oil filter removal is pretty standard for an oil change 👌
Great video thanks! I got the oil from my BMW dealer $11.17 per liter. Slightly cheaper than Mobil 1 one liter individual bottle at $12.99.
Nice, you get very good pictures with good light, good work
Bought myself an I3 today.
you also needed to fill the oil filter 2/3, then run it with the REX on for a short drive then fill up to the dip stick to the line.
This dude is serious. In the rain. Over gravel.

I've seen torque spec of 18-20ft-lbs for the drain bolt. I always use a new crush washer, just not worth the risk of drips for the cost.
Agreed on the crush washer

Yeah, pulling the dipstick out let's the oil drain easier.

Nah it's like a steel flat washer.
Even purchased the "crush" washer from the dealer.
Where’d you get the Ramps from?
Ordered from summit racing- in 2020.
Cheap then- Hella expensive now.
As the petrol in a REX tank might not get used for many months is any additive recommended ? To stop the fuel degradation.
That is a good question.
I don’t have an answer. My rex gets used just about daily.
