  • Cruise Control Fix for Honda Goldwing. In this short video I will show you one thing to check for if you are having issues with your Cruise Control on your 2001-2017 Honda GoldWing. It simply could be the small Bushing on the clutch lever handle or one of the 2 micro switches which detect whether the clutch is pulled in or not. Have not fear...If MEMPHISMIKE can fix it, YOU can too, as I am not the Best of Wrenches in town. Thank you for watching and do not forget to hit the LIKe Button, Leave a Comment and SUBSCRIBE!

You can buy the entire kit to change the clutch and brake from wing stuff "do not just change the clutch", should also use some silicone grease to keep it lubed. If you can move your levers up and down replace bushings.

    Thanks. Worked like a charm.
Would like to add that for some reason the original bushing had the hole goes all the way through thus allowing the loose handle. The replacement bushing hole doesn't go through all the way letting the cable/plunger to push against the back thus much more fitting and no more loose fitting.
I suspect the bushing is wearing of and the hole gets punched through.
    Nevertheless, great video. Thanks.

Thanks so much for posting this video. I was about to pull my right hand switches apart thinking that was the problem and assumed I'd have to replace them. But in fact after watching this I discovered pushing forward on the clutch handle I could engage cruise control. I ordered the bushing and sure enough, when I pulled out the old one it was pretty badly worn. Cruise control works great now. You saved me many hours of frustration and many hundreds of dollars in unnecessary replacement parts.

My issue is that when I barely touch the cruise control button itself, the Cruise Control light flickers on and off. I'm sure it's probably gooped up, so I'll have to disassemble the switch and clean it out. However, I'll also replace this bushing at the same time! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! I keep at least 2 extra bushings on hand at all times. I use special anti seize grease (worth) , it’s a copper based grease, very high temp , very slippery. Since I’ve been using that grease ( 25+ years ) I’ve only used 1 bushing in 15 years. During the off season I go over the entire bike , front to back top to bottom. You never know what you will find during a thorough maintenance inspection . Long Island NY

I'm an old farm boy. Anything that moves gets lubricated. I worked in a Honda shop after retirement and quit in 02 when I broke my back..it doesn't draw as much dirt as you might think. Even an occasional drop of spray lube will help. Don't forget the brake lever either. I love your channel.

@@boulevardm109regypt3 typically that is the same issue we all have. It will not engage. You probably need to replace the micro switches on the left clutch side and perhaps the bushing in the clutch handle. Or, your clutch levee may be wore out. What is happening is, because those parts are wore out, the bike thinks the clutch is engaging and cutting the cruise control off. Try this. Get the bike up to speed…push you clutch lever OUT and see if CC will engage. If it engages but then goes back off after you release clutch, you have found your problem. Did i not cover this in the video?
