Good vid mate.
One thing to add is to support the inner race of new W- Bearing when pressing the hub back on otherwise the the hub will push the inner race out of new wheelbearing
Yeah thats a good tip mate 👍
2nd thing I noticed 1st was the wheel bearing inner and outter magnetic ring goes to the inner side
Thanks for the vid friend, we across the big pond with these in the states really appreciate your knowledge for our G8's.
Gday mate
Yeah no dramas its all about helping a mate out.
Dirty thumbs up 👍
Great video. Only thing I did different was I made a leverage lock bar that bolts onto wheels studs to stop lifting when undoing centre bearing nut.(long flat bar that hits the ground with two holes to go onto wheel studs.) again well done video👍
Sweet dude thats a great idea 👍
Really like the tools used breakdown at the end, that's perfect
No dramas mate
Awesome mate, very detailed and clear instructions.
Thanks bro
What an fantastic and extremely informative video, it's like your here guiding every me step, but the beers aren't flowing 😢 thanks heaps mate truly appreciatebthe effort you have gone to on this tutorial up and beyond any I've seen subbed thanks
No dramas mate
Cheers Bro. Completely put me off doing this myself. Bloody over engeneering. Your vids are the best though Dude. Keep em coming.
Thanks mate
I hope they are getting better
Dirty thumbs up 👍
Take it easy
Great video, very informative, and leaves nothing out
Cheers mate
Well done old mate. Very well presented. Now I'll go ahead and see how much skin I can lose doing the same job :)
Haha thats gold mate
Take it easy
Very Easy to follow, Great Video !!
Just a note to go with this video - unless you have a 100 ton press, the trip to a local mechanic / machine shop will be a requirement. Small 10 ton presses don't have the oomph to move the bearing out of the housing. This is not something to try with a slide hammer as your bearing puller.......
Yeah mate not wrong 👍
On ya mate that was bloody awesome 👍
Legend! Gonna make my day a hell of a lot easier
Sweet bro
awesome job, well explained
excellent video
Very interesting to see. Assuming VF is the same or very similar? Getting ours done in a week so to see the time and effort required certainly justifies the cost.
Yeah mate it abit of a job 👍
Good work Byron, enjoyed the vid 👍
Thanks dude 👍
Great video.
Given me the confidence to do this myself
Cheers :)
awesome very instructional
Cheers mate
Thanks so much for this dude! Am about to do this job on the weekend. Subbed.
Nice work mate
thank you.. made easy
Best video out! Awesome! Onya mateee.
Excellent 👍
Thanks for the video. What were the symptoms of it being bad?
Gday
Noisy and movement in the wheel
Check out my video on the mazda cx7 front wheel bearing i show how to check it out at the start
Good video
Cheers mate
champion thanks mate
No dramas mate 👍
Good job mate
Cheers mate
I was under the impression that those particular suspension bolts were TTY and should be replaced when removed?
Oh thats something i didn't know about
@@downtheshedwithbyron Quite a few on a VE If I remember correctly, caliper and hub mount bolts included.
@@dazaspc thats cool to know do the have this in the workshop manual
Could you not leave the car on the ground in gear and park break on with a wheel chocked to loosen the centre nut?
G'day mate
Yeah bro thats works as well
Cheers
@@downtheshedwithbyron as a CV joint Grease monkey, it was our go to because 9 times out if ten the nuts were bloody hard even with an extention on the breaker bar. Thanks for the video, brilliant step by step. Never done rear bearings on a late model Commodore 😉
@@adam3842 no dramas mate take it easy
Hey mate is this assembly and the sedan assembly the same?
Gday
Im not sure but it should be
Good video mate
Cheers bro
Take it easy👍
Bloody Legend
Cheers mate
Hey mate, that bit of sheet metal cover around the brake hub is tinging occasionly on my VE when driving and when I had it jacked up today and rotating the wheel, any idea of the possible cause of this? Thanks mate
Gday mate its probably the backing plate check that out
@@downtheshedwithbyron Thanks heaps mate I'll check that out
thank you !!
No dramas mate
Good jod mate
Thanks mate
I have an issue I cannot find the solution the handbrake shoe kit on the car I can’t seem to put it back together it still has movement in the spring ? And the shoe moves out of position
It should just lock in these a retaining clip
perfect
Cheers mate 👍
Do I have to get a new hub too? Is it safe to reuse it and just get a new bearing?
The hub should be ok if the parts shop is good you might be able to buy the hub for the just in case and if you dont use it take it back
And a new bearing
Need to do a “ how to “ video on replacing the front holden ve sv6 wheel hub
I see what I can do mate.
@@downtheshedwithbyron no worries mate, I’ll hold off on replacing mine until you’ve provided the goods. Cheers bro.
@@stabrio78 haha if you in Perth I can help you out
@@downtheshedwithbyron damn.. now I regret living in west syd 🤣🤦🏽♂️
@@downtheshedwithbyron sorry about starting up the convo again, but I ordered the part last night and now I’ve got the question of… do I need a slide hammer or is there another way to get it off?
Why did you replace the hub
Just the bearing mate
Did you say 36mm socket?
G'day mate
I think i did ill have to double check the video
A 36mm socket is required to remove the axle nut. I have done this job on both sides of my Pontiac G8 (Holden Commodere in North America) and that was the socket sized used for the job.
There is no way 425nm is accurate, I can't even get mine to hit 220nm, please respond as I'm genuinely stumped
Gday mate
Id have to double check pretty sure i got the torque value from sap bearings and shafts
So why can't you get it to do up ?
It is the correct value for the axle nut per the service manual:
Tighten
Tighten the nut on first pass to 150 N·m (111 lb ft).
Loosen
Loosen the nut on second pass by 180 Degrees.
Tighten
Tighten the nut on third pass to 425 N·m (313 lb ft)
Crimp nut.
Bro, you need a hew shirt....lol
Yeah bro
How much does this cost at shop?
Gday John
Im guessing an hour or 2 in labour plus parts.
Cause I took the hub down to pedders suspension I paid for the bearing and half an hour of labour for the press.
Hope this help you out take it easy👍
Thanks for that info !
I was wondering where to take it to get it pressed out and new one in…
gday bro, i was doing my diff the other day, and i put the front lower control arm bolt backwards, ive seen how youve done it and i can change it, but is it going to affect it at all? just cant really be bothered lol
Nar i couldnt see why it would
@@downtheshedwithbyron alright cheers man, hopefully there’s no problems with it
@@Lucasperks06 let me know how you go bro
@@downtheshedwithbyron yeah no worries g
that tyre is bold too.
Yep I let me mate know that was his next thing on the agenda after the wheel bearing tyres and a wheel alignment
