Such a great toy line! The figures and vehicles were so well designed and they’re rock solid! I can’t remember anything ever breaking.

(According to my mom) When I was a toddler I loved the Fisher Price playsets... The Garage, The Castle*, The Farm, etc. But after a while my play started to focus mainly on playing with the "Little People" more than the sets.
When I started getting Adventure People I loved them even more. This I do remember...compared to the Little People, they had so much more articulation. I had two Clawtrons and I used them as minions for Brainoid. Brainoid was a cyborg with a gelatinous brain in a clear dome helmet. one robot claw arm, and in a space suit. It seemed natural he was the leader of the bad guys. Him and his Clawtron soldiers were the main bad guys in lots of my adventures. I still have those three figures along with a handful of other Adventure People and my Alpha Star and Alpha Probe.
I also have Firestar 1 and X-Ray Man as pilot. I think I have regular X-Ray Man and X-Ray woman, but I'm not sure... I know I _had_ them, if I still have them I have to check, but that's all in storage.
I also know for sure I still have the Land Speed Racer and the pilot with an orange jumpsuit. Only, as a kid, the Land Speed Racer was a Star Fighter that always played the "good guy" and would battle against the Firestar 1 and its pilot that played the "bad guy" (also under the command of Brainoid).
*The Fisher Price Castle is one of the greatest least talked about playsets ever. Everyone talks about the greatness of Castle Greyskull, my Greyskull broke so easy and was constantly falling apart.
My Fisher Price Castle was sturdy and had all the features Greyskull had and more!
Yeah, it was scaled to play with the Little People so once I outgrew playing with those in favor of Adventure People, then Star Wars figures, then He-Man and G.I. Joe figures...the Castle kind of got forgotten. As a kid the Castle was a "baby's toy" as an adult I have newfound admiration of how great it was!
In comparison with Greyskull, it had the trap door that dropped 3 floors through a tower into the dungeon, it had the flag on a spring, it had the drawbridge that could be raised and lowered, over a moat no less.
In addition, it had a secret hidden compartment behind the staircase, it had a cave built into its side on the outside and a secret entrance into the castle from the cave, PLUS it came with a dragon (with great articulation!) that could live in the cave. It came with a King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Knight, Archer, and Footmen, granted they were Little People, but still...
It came with horses and furniture and a carriage you could hook a horse up to. The Little People could ride in the carriage and the knight could ride a horse so they were like getting vehicles along with everything else!
All this came in the one playset!!!
Sorry for the digression, but I love talking about this Castle whenever I get a chance 😝
    Best Regards!

Yeah I remember that castle, it was pretty awesome. If you were lucky to find some green army man scaled knights, it became more impressive.

These were awesome toys back in the day. Nearly indestructible. If I couldn't break it as a kid, it couldn't be broken, trust me.

  • @lake_cooper

Oh my God. I still remember the way these toys moved and felt. Like the rubber raft...the orange part "clings" to the yellow part, but can be popped on and off. I was only four, but remember every detail of all these. This is almost emotional. My mom died when I was seven, but all these toy videos give me a time warp back to life while she was still here. Thanks for all these memories, reminded... 🙏🏻

These were some of the first action figures I had. Considered them an improvement on the weeble wobble figures and no leg fisher price figures. These figures along with Star Wars, Gi Joe, Tonka and all similar size figures became know as "men with legs" among my friends due to the very literal fact that they had legs. As in "Do you want to play men with legs?" When we got a bit older, I wanted to name our band "Men with Legs", never happened. We played Star Wars and Gi Joe story lines sometimes, but mainly all figures were thrown together in some post apocalyptic adventure.

The FPAP Rescue Rig was my first 3 & 3/4in figure and veh set, still own it with all original accessories to this day. Loved the line, tho as Star Wars and GI Joe gained prominence, the human FPAP figures were often just civilian casualties. 😬😄
The sci-fi themed figures were the best, imo; the various astronauts, X-Ray Man & Woman, Clawtron, Opticon and, of course, Brainoid!

Some of my go to action figures always! Loved them, had the jeep with tent, canoe awesome set. I still have the Shuttle set with the 2 figs, a pull back dragster with race driver, and the blue frogman with white boat, yellow sled.. love them still .. surprised we never seen any of this line remade yet..

These were awesome! I had a ton of them back in the 70's. My favorite figure was the Skydiver set. He was Evel Kinevel to me.
I loved the motorcycle set too. They were Ponch and John to me.
The set with the collie dog was massive! The biggest set Igot of these back then. Iwas watching Jaques Cousteau on PBS and Johnny Quest cartoons, so this set really appealed to me.
I also loved the space sets. Didnt get the Alpha Probe, but I had the other smaller space ships. Yeah, those aliens were super neat! I used to pretend they were in Star Wars when it came out. There was a guy in the cantina in a helmeted space suit too which I noticed looked a bit like these figures.

    I had the diver.
He came with a treasure chest an octopus and a raft.
He was the main hero in the bathtub.
Usually fighting other lame figures like the guys from the black hole and the star trek the motion picture guys for control of a drugstore speedboat!

Love FP Adventure People. The Wilderness Patrol and Northwoods Trailblazer were my favorite sets and still have them both. Sadly my original Red figure was lost in a boating mishap he and the Ranger got into on a lake. Have X-Ray Woman and the pilot X-Ray Man but not the regular one. Loved that they were so cheap about 8 or so years back when nobody really cared then they suddenly got very collectible and the prices soared.

These were my first line that I tried to collect that hadn't just been the older kids' toys handed down to us, like GI Joe was. Novclue that there were so many until just a few years ago, but they were and are still my fav of all toy lines. Nine and eight (and I think a kid from another line) were in countless adventures as Dr. Quest and Race Bannon (Johnny Quest). And the patriotic biker stood in as Captain America until Pocket Heroes 1st line had the real deal. The sci fi ones would've been an even bigger hit with me, but I didn't spot any until a little older and only the majority of them as an adult. Though I did have the odd inhuman robot with the flip up lense; I got him from a yardsale and was an adult before I learned not only was it AP, but even an action figure at all. I was sure it was some spy decoder gizmo as a child.

wow I had completely forgotten about these. Between me and my 3 cousins, I think we had just about them all. Then StarWars and then GI Joe happened, but you are right we used them in those adventures too.

My favorite was Dean, I drove him around for hours and he took trips in my pocket often. I haven't seen much like it since other than Imaginext figures, actually a shame Adventure People never tried the whole collectable figure game.
Been meaning to do some collecting of them as restoration work is little more than paint touchups for such durable toys. I think the X-ray people certainly made an impression as I recall an homage to them in a modern figure.
