My grandma passed away two years ago this December. When my family was cleaning out the old farmhouse we found a bunch of older fisher price toys in the attic crawlspace. I was checking out the children's hospital and noticed the elevator wouldn't come all the way down to the ground floor. So upon investigation I found a 82-83 mail away hooded Cobra Commander and a 12in Rambo M-16. And I also have and love copperhead and the water moccasin. Great work, really enjoyed . Major Bludd and Destro seem to be the two that most people think should be on the list. Destro was close, but even though Major Bludd was a favorite early on, Hasbro just kept releasing so many cool figures that Major Bludd fell off my Top 10 list pretty early on.

Cool video. I loved Firefly and Storm Shadow. I honestly liked most all of the figures that came out up until around 1990, then I lost interest. I also had the Water Moccasin and for whatever reason, I had Copperhead and CrocMaster as fighting buddies. Now, all of these years later, my boys like the old action figures. If they still made the 3.75 inch figures today, I’m convinced they couldn’t produce them fast enough.
I have a nice collection , my sons finds them cool . I’m older now so I collect them as a hobby & it’s still feels cool. Would love to tap into that old imagination that allowed me play with them 😂😂😂
Great choices. Zartan, Copperhead were two of my favorites in addition to many of the ones shown in this video. Nice photography of these classic figures. Thanks.

Yeah I got to tell you I really really enjoyed the water moccasin when I received it new from Sears I think it was. Applying the decals and then getting many hours of play out of the thing and the fact that it floated was really cool too
There were so many Cobra greats, it's hard to pick a top 5, top 10, or even a top 20! Your list is full of some of my favorite figs as a kid, but Wild Weasel, the BATS, Crimson Twins, Alley Viper, Night Viper, Desert Scorpion and others were also heavy hitters for me. Great list though! Right now, my Water Moc is on display, piloted by Copperhead, of course, with Ninja Viper nestled in the gun turret, Firefly to his left and Storm Shadow on the right.
For me, Storm Shadow and Firefly(I always thought of Firefly as a Ninja from another clan allied to Storm Shadow's clan. With Firefly specialized in sabotage and arson) They both would have been number's 1 and two on my list respectively. Right behind Zartan. Who was my all time favorite action figure to this day. In my adventures Zartan was almost always the most dangerous and best hand to hand fighter. Not even Quick Kick or Storm Shadow(the next two best hand to hand Fighter's)could deal with Zartan's mastery of near every Martial Art that ever existed. This is because Zartan was always an Ancient being who could not die naturally. And could only be killed from certain equally Ancient weapons. This was why Zartan changed colors too camouflage himself, and warp through walls like we see in the cartoon. Because he held Ancient mystical powers learned and honed over the hundreds and thousands of years of his lifetime. Zartan always worked for himself, playing all sides against one another(just like in the cartoon). But in my universe Zartan was never a coward. And feared no one or nothing. Not even when death was about to claim him. His ancient wisdom taught him to never fear death and to welcome it when it came for him. I wish I had bought three of him. I saved lunch money, paper route tips, and lawn cutting money to buy Zartan and two other figures, with an accessory kit as well. His gun looked just like the one Eddie has on the cover of the Somewhere in Time album of Iron Maiden. Oh man did that fuel my imagination. The 80's action figure era was the best there ever will be!
excellent list! other than the crimson guard (never had one as a kid) being supplanted with scrap iron, and putting the viper at #1, my list would be identical.
Dreadnoks were always the best, man now looking back i only had 1 crimson guard wish I had more.. man I love the poses you set up on every character I used to spend hours setting up the perfect pose's before we even played good ol days
I love the Dreadnoks! When they came out as figures, I think that was the last time I got REALLY excited about getting a new toy. I got a lot of toys after that, but Ripper, Buzzer, and Torch all on the same day was SUPER exciting for me! I excluded the Dreadnoks from this list as a separate organization or it would have left off most of the others!
I had Tomax and Xamot but always wanted the crimson guard. My favorites that I had were snake eyes and storm shadow. Later it was any of the dreadnoughts.
Storm shadow and firefly were definitely my top five from Cobra, I loved Copperhead too, playing G.I. Joe’s past my 10-year-old kid self, but it turned into role-play, where I would use dice and rulers and we would create scenarios, including hiding figures in the bushes where you would have to take your troopers through that path to rescue another G.I. Joe. On your dice roll if you didn’t spot a sniper or a Cobra trooper hidden in the bushes you would get shot and killed. 😂 I basically stop playing with them after getting into comic books, but I probably kept the Joe’s on my bookshelf for years even a Hooded Cobra Commander at my work desk. Yo Joe!
I never had enough figures to make a top 10, but I can say my fave cobra figures were: Crimson Guard (my first cobra figure ever), B.A.T. (Lot of accessories!), Golobulus, Desert Scorpion. Always wanted Dr mindbender, classic Storm shadow, viper, regular cobra soldier and destro.
Firefly and Storm Shadow were always my favorite. But I really love that I acquired mint complete with file card in all of Snow Serpent, Techno Viper and Eels…..I had them as kids! Great list!
Nah, he just gave me the figure and I gave him the money...but for a minute there, I was thinking, "I wonder what picture they'll use on the milk carton?"
@@WeHadThat storm shadow probably was going to kidnapp you because of your parents' secret lab. snake eyes probably foiled the plans. sorry I drifted off in to nerd world there. what I meant to say was, cool story related to you getting your figure.
@@camcordernonsense5264 Haha! But yeah, Snake Eyes saved me and he was so fast, I didn't even see it. He was probably beating up the real kidnapper while Hawk was selling me the Storm Shadow figure.
I never got the og Stormshadow! I would look everywhere or even on family vacation. The only time I found Stormshadow, his accessories were gone from the packaging and so I passed on getting him. I did get the new Stormshadow though when it came out.
Storm Shadow was definitely the best...but many other cool ones were forgotten from this list: Zartan Destro (Both chrome and gold) Major Bludd The "Twins" Cobra Commander with battle armor
Well he does limit himself to 10, and mentions that he didn't include the Dreadnoks because he thinks of them as another faction. Zartan being their leader would exclude them. Same could be said of Destro too.
I actually never liked Tomax and Xamot. Zartan, I count as a Dreadnok and I didn't include them on this list, but Destro was close to being on here! There were so many that a limit of 10 is tough!
Another great roll out of classic figures, I had a lot of Cobra characters on your list ( though I definitely would have added the B.A.T.S )with Storm Shadow being my all time favorite!
I had about 4 of the ones on your list, I loved that Viper figure that came out, it was definitely in my top 5! If I had to add my own entries to that list, I'd put Techno Viper, Motor Viper, battle armor Cobra Commander, Tele Viper, BAT, and Wild Weasel.
Storm Shadow also passes the Law of "Diminishing Ninjas" test. As a lone ninja, his Ninja Value (NV) is 1. However, because of the Law if he had another ninja as a partner, that ninja would only add half the NV that came before it, or .5 NV. And each added ninja adds only a half of the last added NV. So NV of 2 cannot be reached. This is why a lone ninja is almost as much of a threat as a horde of ninjas.
Favorite Cobra list. That's tough. All time favorite came late on the list with The Headman and his Bounty Hunters. The Bounty hunters looked awesome and I loved characters that had equipment that attached to them and they had sawed off shotguns. After that it would be Alley Viper BAT Night Viper Night Vulture Firefly Crock Master Tomax & Xamot Snow Serpent with a SNOWBOARD! Roddy Piper
Storm Shadow was my first real memory of peg disappointment. Must have gone to TRU every chance I could and did not find him. Once I did, loved all of the ways you could put weapons on his backpack. Still, Firefly will always be my favorite Cobra figure. I like that your reasoning includes how you used them, like the Crimson Guard was almost more character as you only had one. Or Cobra Commander was mostly in the base. As a kid I didn't have multiples, so, my Cobra would die, and then be a different Cobra. Still prefer the Officer, with the silver logo.
I guess I was lucky to have a Storm Shadow because we lived in Mexico and my dad brought it for me in one of his trips to Houston. Later I bought at least 2 more myself in the opportunities I had visiting the US
It would be cool to see a cobra commander figure where there are removable heads for both hooded cobra commander and the helmet. The Cobra Eel would make a great fan channel exclusive if it came with a clear stand that allowed you to have him in a sense float like he is in the water. Something like those stands that allow Superman to appear he is in the air. That type of stand would be what sells the figure. Like he is floating sideways and swimming. I could see it really popping on a shelf.
There actually are a few Cobra Commander figures with interchangeable heads. But not in the original o rings. The 4" figures had heads that popped off of a socket so interchangibg was easy.
Well did not make your list at all, but Scrap Iron was my fav Cobra figure. Baroness and Firefly were next as favs and glad they were high on your list. I cannot believe Scrap Iron did not make your list, lol. Over the years many Cobra stood out as must have figures but the 3 mentioned were always my favourite.
Great stories I play with my GI Joes until I couldn't play with them any more and more or less because I got too old or because it would just seem silly but I played with them all the way up until High School just be quiet and I had a Storm Shadow which I did wipe because he beat up a gorilla and one of the cartoons and I froze him in ice for awhile don't ask me why
Although I had stopped really 'playing' with them, I still bought GI Joe figures even after I had my driver's license. The first place I drove was to get GI Joes. :)
Given the amount of awesome figures to choose from, this was a great list. I can't even begin to think of a top ten list, but as a kid, and even now as an adult, the Hydro Viper is still my absolute favorite G.I. Joe figure and would easily be my #1. The design is otherworldly when compared to other Cobra figures, and they seem like they would fit in better with Cobra-La.
I love the look of the original Cobra Commander. The silver faceplate gave him a lot of mystery.
Yep!
So sure.
Hooded Cobra Commander was the GOAT Cobra Commander. Helmet/face shield Cobra Commander was #2 in my opinion.

Destro, B.A.T.S., and Wild Weasel seem to be some of the main ones that aren't on my list that most people would have added!
My favorite Cobra was the Alley Viper
That's a good one!
Nice list... I like too Croc Master, Scorpion Desert and Destro special forces....
Croc Master came very close to being on this list!
I wish I still had my V1 Cobra Commander.. shame I blew him up back in 92
Ouch!
Destro? Maj. Bludd?
Destro was close. Major Bludd wasn't so close. I liked him a lot when he first came out, but so many figures that were cooler to me came later.
i'm 48 and I want to go back playing with my Joes 😭
The wars would be so much better now that i can afford to buy my own toys🤣
You can!
@@kingmoomoo4207 Right!?
excellent list!
other than the crimson guard (never had one as a kid) being supplanted with scrap iron, and putting the viper at #1, my list would be identical.
Nice!
You didn't have to own them to be on your Top 10 list! Sounds like you did have some cool ones though!
Firefly and Storm Shadow were always my favorite. But I really love that I acquired mint complete with file card in all of Snow Serpent, Techno Viper and Eels…..I had them as kids! Great list!
All of those are excellent figures!
odd that candy was replaced by stormshadow.
so did you get in the van or not?
Nice list of Cobra action figures and so much better to actually have them in my collection!
Sounds like a great collection!
@@WeHadThat Yes it is. Hving two of each is awesome... One for p[aying with and one for display.
@@agnethaladuff8559 Excellent!
The COBRA uniforms still scare me a little. Cool.😎
Haha! As they should! 😉
Great pics!
Thanks!
I never got the og Stormshadow! I would look everywhere or even on family vacation. The only time I found Stormshadow, his accessories were gone from the packaging and so I passed on getting him. I did get the new Stormshadow though when it came out.
Copperhead and croc master were dreadnoks in my joe world and they still are in my classified display 🤘🏻
Those two both seem like decent Dreadnoks if you don't have any Dreadnoks!
your firefly suffers elbow arthritis!?! it seems like I hardly see elbow cracks on the earlier figures.
Firefly suffers from so much that I'm surprised he's still together. He saw a LOT of action over the years!
@@WeHadThat ours too. so cool.
@@camcordernonsense5264 Do you still have your chilchood Firefly?
Storm Shadow was definitely the best...but many other cool ones were forgotten from this list:
Zartan
Destro (Both chrome and gold)
Major Bludd
The "Twins"
Cobra Commander with battle armor
Well he does limit himself to 10, and mentions that he didn't include the Dreadnoks because he thinks of them as another faction. Zartan being their leader would exclude them. Same could be said of Destro too.
I actually never liked Tomax and Xamot. Zartan, I count as a Dreadnok and I didn't include them on this list, but Destro was close to being on here! There were so many that a limit of 10 is tough!
Great list.
Thanks!
Another great roll out of classic figures, I had a lot of Cobra characters on your list ( though I definitely would have added the B.A.T.S )with Storm Shadow being my all time favorite!
Yes, the B.A.T.S. could easily have been on this list! The problem with a TOP 10 list is you can only have 10 figures on it -Haha!
Those are good choices! I wasn't crazy about the battle armor Cobra Commander though, but the rest were cool!
Stories in "The Tick" comic book support this theory!
“The numbers don’t lie. And they spell disaster for you at Sacrifice” - Scott Steiner
25th did Copperhead, Eels and Troopers well.
So far, I'm awaiting those and Snow Serpents in Classified.
Woah! A Classified Snow Serpent would be so cool!
great choice. I agree. Bests of the bests
Thanks! There were a lot of other figures that were almost on this list! My Top 10 list could have had 15 figures -Haha! :)
Love the list. For me, it was Wild Weasel at #1, that map on the leg and cool shades too :)
It was rad that he had that map on his leg!
Favorite Cobra list. That's tough. All time favorite came late on the list with The Headman and his Bounty Hunters. The Bounty hunters looked awesome and I loved characters that had equipment that attached to them and they had sawed off shotguns. After that it would be
Alley Viper
BAT
Night Viper
Night Vulture
Firefly
Crock Master
Tomax & Xamot
Snow Serpent with a SNOWBOARD!
Roddy Piper
Thanks for sharing your list!!! A lot of those were a little after my time, but Croc Master was very close to making it onto my list!
The officer was definitely cool! The silver logo came off of mine though.
If you’re from Georgia I wonder if it was the Lionel Playworld up on Cobb Parkway that you went to for toys.
I went to the one just north of I-285 on Bufford Hwy. 😃
Good list
Thank you! It probably changes every time I think about it!
I love how you pose your figures "in the wild."! Great video. New subscriber.
Thanks! The photos are the most fun part for me!
1:41 we called it "glass face" Cobra Commander back then
Very good picks!!
Thanks!
Awesome video, nostalgia every time I see vintage Gi joes
Thank you! It was a fun video to work on! :)
I like that clear stand idea for the Eels!
Storm Shadow is my favorite character in the entire G.I. Joe mythos.
He's such a great character with a lot of depth for a toy line!
Great list!
Thanks, Tim! :)
I'm not sure why Scrap Iron never really struck a chord with me, but I don't think he was ever really much of a favorite of mine.
@@WeHadThat No prob, every fan will have there own faves and dislikes. Nothing wrong in that. You gave your list which is fine
Thanks for the reply.
Almost identical to my list. Copperhead was my favorite.
Copperhead is awesome!
Storm Shadow was totally worth the risk you took. I'd take that risk now for one new on the card!
Haha, now I wouldn't be afraid at all! I'm a lot taller these days! 😆
The Hydro Viper is pretty unique! I never had him as a kid...or as an adult.
@@WeHadThat Get yourself a Hydro Viper, and strike fear into your Joe’s! :)
@@Dormition I'll keep an eye out for one!
