Merveilleuse version, le texte écrit pour la circonstance est juste fabuleux, la cohésion musicale est de très très haut niveau. The real soft machine !
I loved listening to John Peel and Top Gear in the sixties and seventies. I am sure I remember hearing this at the time. Lovely to hear again after all these years. I loved Soft Machine Third. Still love it now. Thanks!
You definitely did! I have a cassette recording of most of this taken from a John Peel show in 1981. The track is so long that the tape ran out before the end, so cutting off John's inevitable comments, leaving me unable to name it. The advent of lyrics search 2 decades later finally solved the mystery. A real masterpiece.
If I had to make someone listen to a piece of music that describes what is good about British music, you can forget the Beatles et al, this is it. Wit and musicality writ very large indeed.
My favorite version of this fantastic song.

Thought I was going crazy. This is the only version I could find with these lyrics.
I assume Robert improvised and re-wrote just for this session. He was a creative titan at that point. Just brilliant (my favorite version).
@@postive-vibesmy fav version too, not talking about the wonderful guitar solo.
Robert Wyatt, a true iconoclast!

By far the superior version of this amazing song...
Sempre quis saber o que ele cantava. Thanks for lyrics.
maximum, the best of S.M....Wyatt in excelsis deo!
Les trentes glorieuses s'achève sur ce morceau, c'est la fin d'une époque et de toutes les désillusions que cela a provoqué.
I assume the nod to “the old Pink Floyd” means before Syd departed.
Tune and a half
👏👏👏👏👏
Ouch. Digital artifact nastiness at 11:25.
Jesus Christ! At top volume that is painful!
th-cam.com/video/t2WQViRXa-A/w-d-xo.html for the missing climax
Quite a lot of suspense and resolution missing from this CD rip with the skip.
