Becky Please don't walk away from your grill when it's on fire like that. Close the lid and get the flames to die down. With the wind at your house you could easily set your house on fire with the grill so close to your house. I just want you to be safe.

Just a note for when your cooking less then a full tray of cupcakes.
Put cake filled in the middle then fill the rest with water. It stops them from burning and also helps to keep the pan from bowing due to the higher heat on the empty ones. Will also give you a more even cook time

Oh Becky!! Oh my GOSH! This pound cake recipe is the one I've been looking for! My late mother always had a pound cake on her counter, I mean ALWAYS. My father wasn't a huge dessert eater but he LOVED her pound cake.
I have been searching for the recipe she used and have not had luck until now! It's THIS ONE!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this.

Hi Becky, here in Australia where we grow tons of pineapple, the best way to grill them is in a cast iron griddle steak skillet. That way you get the grill marks and can use the butter in the pan to baste as it’s cooking. The recipe you read out actually says pan, not directly over a flame.

    • @christinemckenzie6492
      @christinemckenzie6492 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Yes, you were to leave it in the pan on the grill. Otherwise grill first before the syrup mixture.

Another option is BBQ trays. The thin foil brand ALCON makes some that my family swears by (we buy them from Costco). Gives you grill marks and has small slits so the heat comes up but its grooved so the oil/fat gets trapped.
Another option would have been grill them and then marinate the warm pineapple.

Fun with the flames! The recipe may have meant the English understanding of grill, which is broil, instead of the American meaning on a barbeque. And a pound cake topping that I like is to take frozen fruit - berries of all kinds, peaches and even melon balls if you have some - combine them and let sit in a jar on the counter for a couple of days till it just starts to ferment. Poured over the pound cake it's delicious - and usually purple and pretty. Thanks for your interesting recipes!

Add the pineapple scraps (from 1 pineapple) in jug of water (4.5 cups), add sugar (1/2 cup) and cinnamon (1 stick), and leave to ferment for a day or two. Becky, a cooking tip for kabobs. Soak your wooden skewers in water for about an hour before adding your food to them. It will keep your skewers from burning up while grilling. Rather slow down the burning of them. You do a fantastic job!😉 Love your enthusiasm! 🤩😊

I am on leave from work right now due to having a back surgery. Having this time off to heal and finally have some time to do a few things, I’ve been making some of your recipes. I just got done doing 2 batches of your no kneed bread to cook tomorrow for the 1st time. I am so excited to finally try this one. I also borrowed my sisters Dutch oven and I really need to buy one ASAP! Thank you for just being you! I have enjoyed watching you since you started and just have honestly learned so many things from you. Truly thank you. 😊

I knew the open flame plus all that butter was going to be a bad idea. I think the recipe is intended for a flat top grill where the pineapple doesn’t come into contact with an actual flame.

Great video, I love that you bring us along to your day-to-day! Your rice salad inspired me and I made it yesterday, it was absolutely delicious! My husband cannot have bell pepper so I used radishes instead, it definitely changed the flavour, but the herbs and vinaigrette was so tasty and it didn't feel like it missed anything.

Becky, my family makes cream cheese pound cake whenever we have a get-together or if we're going to a party. Just a note: You can use all-purpose flour if you want. The cake will come out just fine. We also will change up the flavor, almond, vanilla, lemon zest and juice or orange. The whole amount will fit in the pan, but sometimes, we will put a small amount in a cereal bowl. It just all depends on how it comes together each time you mix everything.
    Enjoy your get-together.

That first pineapple looks very green, the second one looks much better. We lived in Hawaii and I got very spoiled regarding pineapple! Look for the deepest gold you can find, and when you get it home prop it upside down overnight before cutting to let the sweet juices redistribute. I actually can my own pineapple because that commercially canned stuff just won't do after having wonderful fresh stuff! Also, when you slice fruit and add sugar, add a bit of vanilla...the difference it makes is astounding

I’m remembering an old recipe. Maybe called Thelma’s triple layer pound cake. Split the cake 3 ways making layers. Each layer with fruit of choice.
Pineapple-Strawberries-Blueberries. Juice drips into cake. Putting whip cream in between each layer. Make a design on top.
Traditional to Fourth of July celebration.
    Red- white-Blue.
    It’s a big hit.

42:45 a tip my family started doing: because the different items going on the skewers require different amounts of time or heat to cook, we started just making skewers of all potatoes, all your protein, all peppers, etc on separate skewers. That way you can add to the grill or take off so some is not overdone on a skewer and being burnt or falling off while trying to make sure another item on the skewer gets properly cooked when you mix and match on the skewer. Then the grill master or whoever after the skewers are taken off the grill, take the skewer by the end and slides the food off onto a cooking sheet. Then people can serve themselves with a spatula/spoon what they want from the cooking sheet.
Another tip, put a little space on your skewers between the food items so heat can properly cook. If they're all jammed up on the skewer, you're going to have uneven cooking and not good for meat(might not be properly cooked all the way through).
Also we like using the wood bc the metal rod skewers heat up so much and the food falls off of them and doesn't cook as evenly. Cooks the red out of any steak too if you care about that.

Hello from Buenos Aires, Argentina! I love your recipes.! I love pineapple, so I try to use all of it. With the smaller fleshy parts and the cores you can make pineapple jam. I add about 1/2 cup of sugar per cup of pineapple I have. I don't add pectin to it but I do puree it with an immersion blender. If you wash the skins thoroughly before cutting into it (I use a brush) you can boil all the skins and the little "eyes" you cut out with about a 1/3 cup of Splenda per gallon of water and the skins of about 2 pineapples and let it simmer for about 2 hrs. after it reached boiling point. You'll have to strain it with a very thin strainer or a cheese cloth. What you will have is a delicious pineapple flavored water/ light juice which is very refreshing in summer. It can be canned . I water-bath quart jars for 20 min . All the best for this growing season and a plentiful harvest!

I just made new pound cake recipe and omg it was so light and fluffy not dense like they normally are. I will keep this one in my rotation. Grilled pineapple rings have the best flavor and you don't need to add all that brown sugar and stuff to it! You can also try grilling half of a romaine for salads and that is delicious also. Make sure you soak your wooden skewers overnight or at least a couple hours so they don't burn. You could have put the entire recipe for the pound cake in the bundt pan and it would have risen to the top but not overflowed.
