I really appreciate that you pointed out that on a budget it's ok to buy non-organic. It's awful when people get the impression that healthy eating is all-or-nothing or that a non-organic apple is just as bad as a pop tart. 👍👍
Not only that but organic food is kind of a crock. It is three times as expensive as regular produce. And the conventional stuff usually looks better as well. Either way the produce has to be washed before eating so there is no real difference between them. I like supporting local farms and whatnot when I can but I don’t think eating all organic is the best thing ever. It is too pricy for a lot of people and it is just easier when you are on a budget. I just stick to foods that are in season since those are tastiest (though because of where I live there’s less of a boundary on that because it is warm here and some foods are grown year round) and least costly.
The best thing I like about the "on a budget" videos isn't the price, it's that the recipes usually have a smaller ingredient list (with more common items). When I see complicated recipes, I am just thinking : "don't have that, never owned that, never heard of that, etc." For this video I was thinking "I've got that ! I can get that too ! I can do this !!"
So, I just made this (w/o the snack and the breakfast), it cost me 17€ and took me two and a half hours! :) I got 9 full meals out of it. I of course tried everything all ready and EVERYTHING is so delicious! Thank you so much for the Video :)
Just found this channel, THANK THE LORD. Best vegan videos out there! To the point, beautiful visuals, and practical tips! My husband and I are just starting the vegan diet this week, and I was so lost. There's lots of meal prep vids on youtube, but none with good recipes. Sooooo happy I found this channel. It's about to be my best friend lol!
The sweet potato chili is the most cheap, delicious things I have every made!! Thank you so much! I am not vegan but I am trying to incorporate more vegan dishes and I am just in such awe at how full and nourished I feel after eating something so simple cheap a delicious. Seriously, thank you!
I literally just finished praying about finding quick meal plan options. When I discovered your page. You’re so knowledgeable, and these recipes are delicious! Thanks for sharing, just subscribed! You’re gorgeous too!
This video is such a game changer! I’m a student and constantly stressed about $. I made all of these recipes and enjoyed them all, but especially the kale and roasted beet salad. Now I know I can eat lots of veggies and still stick to my budget. Thank you so much!
Background music on this, as per usual, is awesome... when you put links in the "more" section, could you start putting in where you get the background tracks from?
This video is genius! Budget friendly, inventive - hello carrot tops, sweet potato for oatmeal - and so ridiculously easy! Not to mention your whole presentation. Truly fantastic!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This was the push I needed to really start I'm on day 3 of being vegan! I made your lentil sweet potato chili and it came out perfect(: I love your videos keep up the great work, I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle(:
The sweet potato curry recipe is amazing. If you want a way to make the curry thicker and get some Omega-3s, you can add ground flax seeds in the curry after the aminos are added
So many different, creative options!!!! One of my favorite vegan sauces is a puttanesca sauce with eggplant, onion, tomatoes, garlic, and Greek olives in place of capers and black olives. Soooooo good over pasta!!!!!
You are simply AMAZING-and your aura is beaming through the screen!! I started out on this Vegan journey in January, and I have become a new person. No more digestive issues, skin has been enhanced, energy level improved, the list goes on. Your recipes are very enticing, and I'm experimenting more-thank you!!
Not only was this one of the most helpful how to videos I have ever seen but your warmth and spirit really light up a room. You can tell this video was made with love and light. Thank you!!
If you live in a city you might have access to veggie/fruit stands that selling the "seconds" from the grocery store. I found a few in my city, and they usually have better uncommon veggies that are more fresh like collards, mustard greens, thai basil, trumpet mushrooms, etc. I can usually walk away with all my fruits and veggies for the week for under $20. when I splurge, its more like 30! Those are great to find if they're in your area.
Just finished watching 2 of your videos and added you on IG. I must say you're awesome! I'm new to the Vegan community (1 year in). Decided to change my lifestyle after my father past away and this has been the BEST change to my life I've made in years. Thanks for the inspiration 💪🏾💪🏾.
Your dishes look absolutely divine! Can't wait to try them with non-vegan family. By the way, if anyone's looking for spices, check the Hispanic food aisle. The spices there in plastic pouches are less than half the price.
I jumped into being vegan for health reasons, I'm very excited about learning more, experimenting and cook for life! By the way you are absolutely beautiful! Blessings
I tried two recipes the 1st curry dish and 3rd sweet potato chilli turned out great. I usually dont cook and just became vegan so I loved it. I was pleasantly surprised how great the dishes were. Please do more of these videos. Thank you.
I just made the carrot salad one! I exchanged the beets, my husband doesn't like them, with sweet potatoes and bell peppers. It's so delicious. He said he'd be willing to try beets next time so we'll see! Thank you for this beautiful!!
Thank you so much....this is my first week as a vegan. You have helped me more than you know! Keep the videos coming, they are making a difference in my life!
I really enjoyed this! I'm been eating a vegan diet for a couple months now and this was an excellent idea to switch up the foods I'm making for my family. Thanks!
I love herrrrr 😩😩😩 thank you so much for thinking about those who are trying to budget, and making these vids superrr quick, and simple, and easy to follow ! You’re amazing x
Im grateful for your existence. Thank you for sharing your lovely recipes. I always know I’m gonna learn new tasty meals thru your channel. Bless you Queen
Your content is so well produced, and it is amazingly comprehensive. Thank you for jumping right in and not wasting any time. I always see these grocery hauls, but I don’t know what they do with them! You’re doing such an amazing job bringing this lifestyle to the real world. I can’t go: raw-low-waste-freegan-vegan all at the same time, but I can buy and cook all those foods! You’re proving it that this is a great way to live and that it is sustainable and approachable.
This is very helpful, because been trying to change my diet and I've been thinking about taking the easy way out like getting sprinly. This is much cheaper and I'm learning what to do on my own.
Just made the coconut curry and whoa 10/10 would recommend. Maybe only add one cup of water instead of two for a creamier curry but other than that it's delicious and soooo easy to make.
I've tried to incorporate more plant-based meals into my diet! I'm so excited to try all of these this coming week as I start the challenge of only eating plant-based for a month! (Which will hopefully lead into that being my lifestyle for a long time!)
Lidl or Aldi's is great for purchasing organic produce and canned goods on a budget as well. I have gotten tons of organic produce on a budget with ease. If anyone has one in their area, it is a great option if you want organic produce for cheap!
this is wonderful, cheap and hearty meal for under $30. my only concern is the level of salt that is used in the dishes. i would recommended using apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and celery salt as useful replacements. another recommendation is to place salt in the meal after the meal is cooked as salt loses it saltiness when cooked. thank you for your recipes i would be trying them.
I'm honestly feeling really great after this. I feed two people six days a week plus four people one day and a big batch dessert every Sunday and have gotten my overall grocery budget to around $75-$85 a week (we're flexitarian technically but most meals we eat are vegan)!
You are my absolute favorite vegan TH-camr. I just found you and have learned so much. I ordered your book on Amazon and excited to recieve it. Thanks for all the information and motivation!!!! I am a beginner.
I made the mushroom and barley risotto, OH MY GOODNESS! It's fantastic! I did sneak in 1/4 cup of dry white wine with my vegetable broth. This recipe is a keeper for sure!
I am a sucker for kale and sweet potatoes!! I bake them and eat them with vegan butter all the time!! Best food to eat!! Thank you so much for your vegan ideas!! I ran out of oil and everything else in my house. This will help me get back on track when I go grocery shopping this weekend. I appreciate your dishes. I mix stuff together myself all the time. It's kinda funny but the dishes actually come out delicious!! LOL. Love your beautiful smile, your calm demeanor, and keep cooking!!
I love this video so much! Everything looks wonderful, but I think my favorite one is the first curry. As for saving money, I find that buying spices at Indian markets is cheaper. You can get good deals at the end of the day at farmer's markets. I also like to buy ingredients from bulk bins, especially for pricier items like nuts. Thanks for the recipes and wishing you a happy New Year!
Omg im obsessed with these dishes. Never thought to add sweet potato to my oatmeal. Definitely trying these next week. We make your recipes on the road, in our van. We travel full time. Thank you for keeping things easy and simple for us to follow!!
I love your videos. I have been cooking some of the foods you have on the videos. Cooking vegan has really helped me to lose weight. In the future, can you make more videos for breakfast and snack foods, please?
I'm on the first day and the curry was sooooo good! Absolutely amazing and so easy. I've been trying to become vegan for a year now and this definitely helps!!
Great video :) Like you said, I shop at 3 grocery stores, however I buy organic for everything (except lemons, avocado and mushrooms). I bring a list, stick to it and get bulk grains/rice/lentils from my local health food store. Thanks for the great recipes :)
These look amazing and delicious! I am sure either way to make the items turns out great, but the recipe on the blog and the video have instructions. I followed the blog and it still turned out lovely for the sweet potato and tofu curry!
This is exactly what I needed! College starts next week for me and I’m cracking my head on what I should do for my meal preps. You’re a life saver girl!
also, I do not eat processed white anything.. Brown rice/legumes in bulk.. TJ's rice/quinoa/black bean/red lentil pasta is the BEST!! Canned diced tomatoes (no salt) can be had for 49 cents a can around here.. cheaper on sale! I do shortcut, however, with Aldi's veggie and lentil soups.. all veg.. makes a quick gravy! Not bad for an ole' granma!! And Ohio has the best peaches and apples when in season!!
I Love your video, it's so comfortable to listen to you! I meal prep every week and still end up eating the same thing once a month. Thanks for all these new ideas. However, here in a smallish tourist town in British Columbia, I just spent $5 for a non-organic sweet potato. I grow most of my cold-weather foods (in this 4 month growing season) to save money especially since a small bunch of kale is $3.50 but sometimes I wish we had American grocery store prices for things like red peppers ($3 each :() or Cucumbers. I'm always so curious what prices are like in other places.
savemarla hi to answer your question, I’m from Georgia and a bag of kale is $2.94, cucumbers are .66 cent. Which i do agree kale is expensive. I wish i lived in a real to grow my own vegetables.
Question on Beets: How do you get the 'dirt' taste out of them? I rinsed and rinsed, put a ton of salt and garlic and it still tasked like dirt when I removed the skin. Love your videos!
This video was honestly inspiring. I’m not vegan but I’m looking for healthy meal ideas. These meals are simple and look delicious! Gonna try some of them! Thanks ☺️
Just made the tofu curry for me and my boyfriend. It turned out great!! He’s a big guy who doesn’t eat vegan, and eats waaaay more than myself. Not only was it so delicious -but also it was more than enough food for us! (I also added cumin and extra garlic)
Happy New Year!! Love the video and the 🎶. I have to admit, there are times I go to the 3 meals with the sweet potato chili and listen to the music..I get so happy
I bought all the ingredients for these meals for about $35. My barley’s not done cooking yet, but the roasted veggie and kale salad is great! That carrot gremolata... Whoo! I’m excited to try the other recipes now!
Absolutely love this! perfect for a uni student! But also wondering, I don't have an oven in my dorm (just a stove top and a microwave combi grill), and i'm so used to roasting veggies- now i'm not sure what to do and how to incorporate it in my meals but also have it taste great? I don't wanna keep stir frying it
Omg this video was absolutely amazing! I loved the way you put your content together. Your recipes were really unique and had so many original elements. They look so delicious, clean and healthy; your video really makes me want to create your recipes!
I just moved to a new place recently so i'm currently on a budget, i buy legumes and grains in big doses at the most cheapest markets i know (even if it is a bit far away, i buy a lot so it lasts for long time)
Thank you so much for taking this month to inspire us! I hope that in some ways you can continue through the following months with maybe one upload or recipe/ tip to encourage new/ hopeful vegans. Because it Is a lifestyle and takes a lot to master, as you have and made it your own! I love your channel! And your smile is so warming, and never judging, as some vegan YT can be.
Ooh you just gave me the best idea. I make my girls packaged brown sugar oatmeal nearly every morning. But now I'm going to add some ore cooked and pureed sweet potatoes from now on. They'll add texture and a bit of sweetness and obvi hella nutrition. Your channel is so so good. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Ur videos make me feel I can do this, while I am mostly overwhelmed... Can u please write ur recipes in the description for ease. Can u also make a list for beginning of week shopping list for first week vegans.. Ty so much
I love shopping at my local produce stand, things are so much more budget friendly and I get the freshest produce. They also carry a larger variety then my local grocery stores and I love knowing that my money is going to support an actual family in my community, and not some big corporation. I also love to plan my meals according to local sales. Like stocking up on bogo items
Amen to that!! I shop at the farmer's markets too. Part of the reason we moved to LA was so that we could have access to fresh local produce all year round. Not possible in NYC :( I also LOVE that you plan your meals based on local sales. That's a great tip!
SweetPotatoSoul thank you! And yes, fresh produce is a must! That's one of the few things I love about Florida. So much fresh produce all year round. And yes, the sale planning has helped me so much with my budget and meal plans!
I really appreciate that you pointed out that on a budget it's ok to buy non-organic. It's awful when people get the impression that healthy eating is all-or-nothing or that a non-organic apple is just as bad as a pop tart. 👍👍
Yes!! We agree :)

oh yeah they still spray their food with preservatives
If you don't mind eating pesticides, then why get organic?
But pop tarts are vegan!
The best thing I like about the "on a budget" videos isn't the price, it's that the recipes usually have a smaller ingredient list (with more common items). That's awesome, how did you go about reheating your food throughout the week?
Just found this channel, THANK THE LORD. Best vegan videos out there! To the point, beautiful visuals, and practical tips! vegans always have such a gorgeous glow! I'm trying to gradually transition to completely plant-based :) thanks for all the great ideas!!!!
The entire time I was watching this, I couldn't stop thinking about how gorgeous your skin is! You're glowing!
Background music on this, as per usual, is awesome... when you put links in the "more" section, could you start putting in where you get the background tracks from?
I never thought of adding sweet potato to my oatmeal!! It would be so good in maple brown sugar oatmeal
Me either! That one blew my mind.
I am really going to have to start buying them raw!
Does it taste good??? I’m so curious because this could really help me go vegan cause I use cows milk and I wanna stop but vegan milk isn’t an option
@@mixedemotions8141 Why are vegan milks not an option for you?
Your skin looks amazing!!! It's the brown glow for me😁😁
This video is genius! Budget friendly, inventive - hello carrot tops, sweet potato for oatmeal - and so ridiculously easy! Not to mention your whole presentation. Truly fantastic!
Omg! Yes! You’re my favorite vegan! You make being vegan practical and accessible!! Much love 💕
I am SO glad I found you.
And girl, that hair and skin is EVERYTHING. You are glowing out here. Just beautiful✨
You are amazing for newbie like me (single mom of autistic son) with a grown son to feed. Thank you and so many blessings to you!

I tried the curry dish and I love it!!! I added fresh ginger and I served it over brown rice and beans cooked in coconut milk!
Just made the sweet potato lentil chilli. SO good! I’m so proud of myself because I don’t cook often. 😁

Aww, thank you so much Althea!! That means the world to me 😘
Agreed!!! She is so gorgeous and so happy! Its infectious! She makes me happy! And that FOOODDDDDD. OMG!!!!♡
Her skin is flawless...*it* looks darn near edible!
Yah I have to agree, I’m not even vegan just contemplating the lifestyle, your video is so inspiring and I luv your hair!
Agreed! The moment her face appeared on my screen I was struck by how glowing and beautiful this woman is, and you can tell it comes from the inside 💛

Made the sweet potato curry last night. It was fast, easy, and DELICIOUS. Thank you!
I made the mushroom and barley risotto, OH MY GOODNESS! It's fantastic! I did sneak in 1/4 cup of dry white wine with my vegetable broth. This recipe is a keeper for sure!

You are my favorite vegan channel on TH-cam!!! All of your videos are wonderful and spot on for what I'm looking for. Much love from a fellow vegan 💛

Happy New Year!! Love the video and the 🎶. I have to admit, there are times I go to the 3 meals with the sweet potato chili and listen to the music..I get so happy
I cooked the sweet potato & tofu curry!! So good 😋 Now I'm prepping my meals! I'm so happy for me!! 💜💜💜
I bought all the ingredients for these meals for about $35. My barley’s not done cooking yet, but the roasted veggie and kale salad is great! That carrot gremolata... Whoo! I’m excited to try the other recipes now!
This is super wonderful, your videos are so pleasant and concise, and all of your recipes are amazing!
Thank you for such a wonderful inspirational video. I didn't have barley so I used farro in your risotto recipe. It was yummy!
Absolutely love this! perfect for a uni student! But also wondering, I don't have an oven in my dorm (just a stove top and a microwave combi grill), and i'm so used to roasting veggies- now i'm not sure what to do and how to incorporate it in my meals but also have it taste great? I don't wanna keep stir frying it
The curry and chili look amazing! I CANNOT believe these recipes are so cheap. Amazing!
Love these ideas I'm counting down to Feb. 6 already have my book pre-ordered
Omg this video was absolutely amazing! I loved the way you put your content together. Your recipes were really unique and had so many original elements. They look so delicious, clean and healthy; your video really makes me want to create your recipes!
It;s 2020 and I'm still cooking your delicious mealpreps on a regular basis! Love from the Netherlands.
Awesome! About to make the meal plan for this week!! Thanks a lot for the inspo❤
And your smile is so warming, and never judging, as some vegan YT can be.
thank you for this. i am on a budget and often struggle with shopping healthy without spending too much. great tips...thanks!
Ty so much
This was amazing and so helpful, as I am trying to transition into more plant-based eating for my new year’s resolution . Thank you, Jenné!
I don’t watch a lot of TH-cam but you are one of my favorite channels and I bought your book. Keep up the good work
I love shopping at my local produce stand, things are so much more budget friendly and I get the freshest produce.
Not possible in NYC :(
I also LOVE that you plan your meals based on local sales. That's a great tip!
SweetPotatoSoul thank you! And yes, fresh produce is a must! That's one of the few things I love about Florida. So much fresh produce all year round. And yes, the sale planning has helped me so much with my budget and meal plans!
