This track is about being so broken-hearted that you become a person you don't recognize, like a stranger in your own body. To me anyway. Also a great tune.

Finally the red cape(possibly the most desperate version of all three)solved the incapacity of the "normal" defeated versions of grief and anger. Beautifully crafted. This happened to me. I litterally was not myself and was not able to feel anything. I accepted every bad idea, did things I would normally never have done, took every suggestion as something to hold on to. All I did was run... run... run... keep running or die. After a long time feelings started to come back and they hit me so hard... I felt so alone and I was so damn scared... It took a LOT to get back from that and even more to be able to truly and fully love again.
Genius. His girlfriend leaves. First he grieves. Then he looks back on himself and and gets angry because he didn't do anything about it. Then he looks back on himself again and accepts what has happened and does whatever it takes to get his girl back. At each stage he's chasing his future self who is one step closer to solving the emotional problem. And once he sees the past version of himself who was upset or angry he avoids them.
I see it as about the learning process of heartbreak and how we get through it. There's no way to change the way you feel. Just have to run towards solving the problem.

I'd been digging Hot Chip for a few years. Heard this tune and had to scope out the video. Crushed. I'm just crushed. It's so freaking good. Words cannot express the gut punch this video provides. It's like the meaning of life in 5 minutes. Sometimes you feel as if you're watching yourself, making stupid decisions, throwing away what matters. "What was I thinking? Who am I?" Then you try like hell to make it better -- and you do, a little. Pain, regret, redemption. You learn, you grow, you promise yourself to be smarter, to be humble, to be a better person. Maybe you will. Say it loud.

I just found this video randomly after seeing a meme on Twitter that said "Eat hot chip" in it, and I found the video and your comment eerily perfectly fitting the situation I'm currently in. I have autophobia which is the fear of being alone, and especially the fear of being abandoned by a loved one. I recently fell in love with a woman I've known for 10 years and she was clear she was not ready for a committed relationship right now being she was recently out of a long term relationship. We spent the last 2 months basically attached at the hip, and all of a sudden I haven't seen her in 2 weeks because she said she was too busy, but we still talked daily. There's only 2 things I need to keep my autophobia in check, either being in the presence of the person I'm most attached to, or knowing a date when I will be able to see them again so I can have that to look forward to. Well she would not give me a date when we could see each other again and after 2 weeks my phobia kicked in and I felt abandoned and it caused an extreme episode on Wednesday filled with terrifying anxiety. It feels like I'm falling out of the sky without a parachute every waking moment, and that caused me to say extreme things to try to get to see her so the crippling anxiety would end because that's all it takes to end it, no meds needed, just the presence of my loved one even if it's only for a couple hours. I proceeded to unknowingly guilt trip her during my episode because while that feeling is happening all rational thinking goes out the window, saying things like "My daughter keeps asking when you'll come over and it's breaking my heart because I can't give her an answer" and it really upset her, and now I'm worried that I messed everything up and I'm heartbroken on top of the autophobia. I just really wish she could understand that it's the condition talking and not the real me and forgive me and find a happy medium. I really don't think I'm being irrational just asking to know a date when we can hang out again, but maybe I'm wrong.😔

Lo que pasa es que las disqueras y MTV dan prioridad a la música de sus continentes, es decir por ejemplo sale un paquete nuevo de reguetoneros y las radios tienen que hacer sonar ese paquete porque tienen contrato lo mismo ocurre en Europa y solo gira esa música en Europa se promociona en Europa. Existe un pésimo manejo de Marketing también y además promocionarse en el mundo por TH-cam y Facebook es demasiado caro. Pero la música está regionalizada, más bien te cuento que llegarán Brasil 😎

One of the most brilliant videos.
Conclusion: When u got a problem, go out of yr self see the whole thing as a 3rd observer...And then your heart will show you the right way...

Hot chip are one of a handful of bands that have consistently become fuller, richer and at the same time very true to the sound they made for themselves with every album. I'm so excited to hear what magical wonders are in store for the new album, but from the sounds of this and huarache lights, i think i can safely applaud the probability that they have outdone themselves yet again. absolutely beautiful.

Not in a mainstream way though, the female vocal sample reminds me of all those vintage deep house tracks that are popular now, but they still have that british 80s synth that features in every of their tracks

Strangely, there seem to be multiple revivals occurring simultaneously. Multi-vivals. Almost like some sort of commemorative collage of the last century's popular genres.
50s rock, 60s/70s psyche, 80s synthpop, 80s/90s House, 80s/70s Disco-funk, and so forth, without one clear-cut monocultural movement.
