What prevents a child from bending the gate by pushing in on the hinged joint? That should cause the latch bar to pull sideways from the latch and eventually wear it down.
@@DIYHGP Not pushing down, but into the panel at the hinges. If the hinge wants to bend, it will effectively shorten the length of the gate and pull sideways at the latch. Try pushing on each hinged joint and see what happens.

Each section of the fence has casters on the bottom that bear the weight of the fence and any child hanging on it.
