All the build up energy going directly into the ring and into the user, would make them explode like a bomb. It's like a river (emotional energy) without a dam (power battery) to safely control the "water."

Iirc one of the Guardians of the universe had them all sent to Kyle as sort of a distress signal because the rest of the Guardians of the universe were doing evil stuff
