This worked perfectly on text in After Effects. Thank you! Is there a way to add this same effect to a group of vector shapes. I have a text logo in Illustrator that I would like to give the safe effect to. Thanks x

Unfortunately this particular effect is only possible to do with after effects text layers

You need to reduce the smoothness like shown in the video, then it will flicker

The animate button is still there in after effects 2023, I have confirmed that myself. Maybe you've made a mistake on the way?
@@SmertimbaGraphics I may have to check around, it's the second thing I've noticed isn't where it used to be, I know it's in the program but whenever I use the drop-down menu it doesn't have an animate button. I'll rewatch and keep trying though thank you.
Just to make sure, are you are dealing with a text layer? Because only text layers have animate button. Something like a logo does not have it.

can you do this with a logo rather than type?
It is possible, but would require a completely different approach, since logo would not have all those built in animators that text layers do.

how can i make the flicker endless using expresiion
to make it endless set start to a certain value like 50% without making a keyframe on it, then animate random seed, alt click on stopwatch, then type time*10 for example

Remove text that has fill and leave only stroke text
how can I slow down the effect at the end? I want it flicker fast then slowly at the end
You can apply easy ease to keyframes and change the speed graph of the animation and create additional keyframes closer to the end.

Apply easy ease to keyframes and make animation go fast at the start, that should work, also move end keyframes further into the timeline.
@@SmertimbaGraphics do I change the random seed speed to high at the start and low at the end? If I move the end keyframes to further, it slows the entire thing down - but I want to only slow the last 0.25 seconds down!
Create extra start and random seed keyframes like 0.25 seconds or so before the end, set random seed really high like 1000, then move 1 frame forward and set it back to low, like 30. Then move end keyframes forward to slow down the end animation.
What if I want to manipulate one single letter
You can apply the effect to as many letters as you want

The font you use is different from the one I use, and the name of the font is the same but the shape is different, is there a solution?
I'm using Montserrat font from google fonts, check the character window, maybe the tracking values are different

Why don't you show which version you're doing it in?
I don't think it matters because this animation is done the same way in all versions. It was done in after effects 2022.
